- Today, we're going to take a look at the cards that Yami Yugi might be using if Yu-Gi-Oh! Duel Monsters aired today with all the modern cards available to current players.

Working on this deck was so much fun! Some cards I forgot to include in the honorable mentions were the Quarter Century collector's cards like Magicians of Bonds and Unity and Paladins of Bonds and Unity, as well as Chronicle Magician and Chronicle Sorceress, but none of those cards are very good anyways, so it's no big deal.
I basically tried to smash as many pieces of archetypes built from the cards in Yami Yugi's deck together as possible in a way that still comes out coherent. One card that definitely helps tie things together is Super Soldier Synthesis, as it works with so many different combinations of monsters in the deck-- It works with Frequency & The Magician Girls or Summoned Skull, Buster Whelp and any of the numerous Level 7 DARKs, and Dragon Buster and any of the Level 7 LIGHTs, such as Gaia or Reflection of Endymion.
Sadly the Buster Blader retrain isn't always treated as the original, so the old one turns out to be the better way to go.
I was really happy to squeeze a couple Summoned Skulls into this deck, as they're some of my personal favorites from his gallery of monsters, although if Magi Magi Magician Gal ever DOES get a TCG release, she's taking the spot of Archfiend's Ascent in a HEARTBEAT.
I can hardly wait to get the Jaden deck up, followed by the other protagonists.

I honestly hate to be that guy, but I honestly think Yugi Muto (not Atem) would use a deck that combines the Shining Sarcophagus with the Toy archetypes. He also would use the Silent Swordsman/Magicisn cards.
Oh absolutely, but this was meant to operate as a deck that would be played by the two duelists before they separated, if the series was set today.
Might as well throw in the Fruit Magician Girls too.

I definitely thought I’d see Arcanite Magician and Supreme Arcanite magician in here. I think they’d definitely be Yugi’s signature in 5ds and definitely pair well with this deck overall.
They were very much considered, but unfortunately ended up on the cutting room floor.

As far as little Yugi is concerned (not Yami Yugi), I'd love to see him run an Adamacipator deck, as an homage to his Grandpa's history as an explorer.
That's a fascinating take! They could even be run alongside the Magnet Warriors and Sentry Soldier of stone!
Sadly, if little yuges doesn't get the Shining Sarcophagus deck, I'm pretty sure the comments will roast spellcommander and myself alive.

The unfortunate thing about the Illusion/chimera archetype is that they just don't have much synergy with Yugi's other archetypes. Also, considering how their decks were portrayed in the Manga, the Illusion series is definitely more of Pegasus' thing for when he gets more serious after Toon World is destroyed. I could easily see Pegasus playing Illusions along with cards like Relinquished and Thousand-Eyes restrict

The Endymion archetype is an interesting choice. Never thought about them being used by Atem

I think you should do VRAINS versions of Yuma and Yuya's decks
Yuya's deck is coming and has some nice Link Support. We do have an updated Yuma deck, but no Links in that first one.
I like to think that in a Duel Monster Remake Yugi keeps around 20 decks, each with it's own iconic archetype, and that's why people can't beat him, he's too flexible and prepared to play with any deck he gets his hand on.

I've done a lot of work on it and have a friend doing artwork for it. I'm hoping to have something to show in the early new year.
Gazelle and Berfomet : We're Yugi's retrain cards. We can send 1 card in opp hand to GY, can summon Guardian Chimera in opp turn to destroy and draw 1-2 cards. And they use Endymion instead of us!!!

I don't think Yugi's deck would be so bad, so, no.
He'd probably use a Dark Magician core + 1 other archetype depending on the arc and that's it.
Such as: DM + Gaia and Curse of Dragon at the start
Next DM + Archefiend Summoned Skull
Moving into DM + Buster Blader next
Then DM + Black Luster Soldier Chaos deck
Moving to DM + Ace of Spades Cards and Slyfer
While the end would probably be DM + Shining Sarcophagus + a random Slyfer
It's been decade o built modern Yugi deck and I love how Konami modernized old cards like Egyptian god etch I trying upgrade it and built countless deck design including joey and Kaiba 😅
If you’re doing more deck profiles in the future, can you do Yugi Muto’s deck? I’ll even give you two archetypes to start with: Shining Sarcophagus and the Fruit Magician Girls.
Not 100% sure when, but Yugi’s deck post DM is definitely on the docket.

Let the man cool off he got things too. Do i want to see it absolutely but let him get his stuff done
Literally the thing I've been trying to do is to figure out which one of all of the archetypes Yugi spawned works together, I've been trying to synchronize every deck possible, the only one that has worked in my opinion is Boots up gadgets walking alongside shining sarcophagus if you use the battery trap card you can equip Trio Gadget activate the spell boot up order, you can summon Gadget Trio and begin The Shining sarcophagus play, other than that I'm trying to see all of these archetypes work together in some way, the goal isn't to be competitive but to make them work, some of these archetypes aren't even full on decks, Chimera and Buster Blader is an example
Oh trust me, it was no easy feat. I really wanted to include the new Chimera cards, but they just don't fit with Dark Magician, Gaia, Buster Blader, Black Luster Soldier, Face Card Knights, and Slifer in any easy way. On top of that, to play them, you gotta play Mirror Swordknight and Cornfield Coatl, which are just completely unrelated to anything else in the deck.
As for the Gadget Support and Shining Sarcophagus, those would be better for a Solo Yugi Muto deck-- this deck aims to try to capture the spirit of Yami Yugi, which is to say both Yugi and Atem from before they separated in one modern deck.
@@whambamduel I'm not going to lie I have always preferred little Yugi's style of dueling then yami, that's why I really love The Shining sarcophagus cards, but even that they still having a hard time combining with any of the little Yugi cards, electromagnetic Warriors is something I'm trying to experiment with, but I really suck at the electromagnetic Warriors because I have no idea how to extend plays alongside shining sarcophagus, I'm considering running double summon in most of these decks

@nivgaming1255 since these are creative character deck profiles that aren't meant to be competitive, unless stated otherwise, every card in this deck is played at a single copy.

I am honestly disappointed you didn't use any of the new Illusion cards including the Gazelle cards (also Illusion Magician)
The new illusion monsters have next to no synergy with the Dark Magician archetype, especially the Chimera cards. I wanted to include them, but they simply had to take a backseat to all of Yami Yugi's better known archetypes that *can* have synergy with each other. Additionally, I personally associate the Illusion monsters, and especially the Nightmare series with Pegasus, as I think it'd be cool for Pegasus to face Yami Yugi with nightmare corruptions of his ace monsters when he's getting more serious after Toon World is destroyed.
But even though the Illusion-type monsters didn't make it, we still have Magician of Dark Illusion, Aprrentice Illusion Magician, and Ebon Illusion Magician.
@@whambamduel yeah, I guess that's fair. Would still love to see a concept of what an Illusion only Atem deck would look like. I think they did it in the most recent Live Duel, I am pretty sure

Really hard to replace mirror force, magic cylinder, dust tornado and other useful traps huh.
Battle traps are not nearly as good as they used to be-- the space in this deck is already extremely tight with all of the different archetypes and synergies I needed to squeeze in and there are still other cards that just couldn't make the cut.
Honestly I'd rather yami just ran a more dark magician/buster blader exclusive deck if they were to do a modern duel monsters show or movie, too many decks spawned from his to realistically represent everything now it would work for joey because alot of his signature monsters got red eyes retrains

Everything about these feel amazing aside from Selene and the Endemion cards. Selene is just weird and Endemion is evil. I like to include a couple of Mythical Beasts instead.
@tinotcg5815 the issue with the mythical beasts is that they have next to no synergy with the rest of the deck, unlike endymion. Reading their descriptions, they seem to work exclusively with other Mythical Beast and Spellcaster Pendulums, where as Endymions are more generic, and their stats match the deck better with Reflection and Endymion both being level 7s

Gonna do all the protagonists and then all the rivals - so Kaiba is coming! (And hopefully we’ll get some of his OCG cards in the TCG by then!)
To me I see Yami Yugi/Little Yugi using a deck like this in a modernized style Battle City, Tournament, meanwhile I see DoD Yugi using the Shining Sarcophagus card's as a tribute and remembrance of Atem

@@whambamduel Oh it definitely did honestly I'm writing a story and I was thinking if I could I wanted to use this as Yugi's deck with a few alterations to keep it in the original Yu-Gi-Oh era
@@Cyber-House-Productions Ooh that's cool. Clearing out the Tuners, Synchro, Xyz, Pends, and Links, as well as the Buster Blader support, which revolves around the tuners, that gives you 10 more spots in the main, 8 more spots in the Extra Deck, and 1 more spot in the side deck. Honestly, some of the cards I really wanted to fit in, but didn't really have the room for, were more of the Chimera Fusion support pieces, as well as additional Summoned Skull cards, so you could easily play Archfiend's Manifestation, Awakening, Contract with the Abyss, and some of the Chimera Fusion pieces. Even Guardian Chimera, if you're feeling spicy.
@@whambamduel oh I would definitely using the Illusion cards in my story like more magicians in Yugi's deck is definitely something he wouldn't pass up on and an upgrade to Chimera and Berfomet. Maybe add the Berfomet centered fusion into the deck if Yugi wants to do that.

ahh yes yugi's modern deck. The ultimate brick deck
Obviously this deck isn't meant to be played in real life in any capacity lol, it's just a character deck. Every single anime deck, with the sole exception of decks in VRAINS, are all absolute brick houses. I've done test hands of this deck in EDOpro, and it's lucky to have at least one playable hand out of every 10 or so.
@@whambamduel idk modern kaiba blue eyes support is pretty consistent. I dont consider putting in obelisk because kaiba doesn't own it anymore

@whambamduel the video was talking about adding the new modern version of yugis deck monster. Doing the same with kaiba's deck would make it consistent enough to be rogue contender
@@kookou13 Yes, i'm aware, I was just clarifying what my own reply meant. Even then, the number of bricky anime character decks, even with modern anime support, far outweigh the number of cases like Kaiba.
You forgot Buster Blader’s retrain.
@BoukenRiser1221 No I didn't-- its just that the retrain doesn't work as well with Buster Blader support, as it only becomes BB on the field and graveyard, but we needed a monster that is buster blades in the hand and deck too, and only the original fits that bill

What about an updated deck profile of Playmaker and revolver from yugioh Vrains, Yuya, and Yugo from ARC-V, and Yusei, Jack Atlas, Akiza, Crow Hogan, Leo, and Luna, respectively.
We're aiming to do each series protagonist, then each series Rival, then each series Best Friends, Main Villains and Female Leads in that order, with tertiary characters after all of that. While some of these may be far sooner than others, it's only a matter of time and patience.
Honestly some of these are more interesting than others. I'm curious how you are going to deal with Judai's hot mess of a deck, but Kite's deck will likely not look too dissimilar to a normal Galaxy Photon deck.
@@Stinkoman87 Jaden's deck is well under way, so you'll get to see that too!
As for characters like Kite, yeahh, there's not *too* much room for creative deckbuilding, but I still have plenty ideas in store for characters like that to help keep things fresh :)

@@thefruitman3200 All of the protag decks are going to vastly be based on the anime, since that's the version of their deck that has the most support. Once we start getting into rival/yugibro characters, though, cards from multiple continuities of their character might have to start being incorporated to pull certain decks together.

@demetriusshuler1391 nice approach, but I'll be real, it's difficult to see much synergy here. The Shining Sarcophagus cards are more meant to be emblematic of when little yugi was ready to go on his own, so combining them into a Yugi and Atem deck from when they were together doesn't sit right with me personally. If the deck works for you, though, then more power to ya
Where's the ygo pro deck
Pretty sure everyone's said this, but I still feel like saying it too. Sorry to be this kind of complainer, but Pot of Greed should not be in the ban list. It was better off as a limited 1. It just lets you draw 2 cards. It doesn't always help. I should know. I've used Pot of Greed multiple times, and even when I get cards that help, I've lost more duels with it than i've won. It's not an overpowered card. It feels like they just did that because they wanted a change in duel flow, but it's just ridiculous. Talk about an overreaction.
maybe a slight errata that banishes the card after use so it cant be cycled from the grave could return it to limited
You lost me after the buster blader support
How come? Buster Blader support has awesome card lore, and it works with the rest of the deck. Even then it only takes up an eighth of the Main Deck and a fifth of the Extra Deck.
What movie/special is this scene [0:09 - 0:15] from again?

No Palladium Oracle Mahad?
The Palladium Oracles (both Mahad and Mana) would be more fitting for a deck exclusive to Atem, seeing as how both are his friends from Ancient Egypt. This deck is meant to be a deck representing both Yugi and Atem in the form of Yami Yugi from before Atem regained his memories, combining all of the pieces of their archetypes over the years that fit best together.

It's an honorable mention, but sadly there just wasn't room for it in the deck- I really wanted to develop as many of Yugi's strategies as I could, but the cost of that was some of those one-off cards.
Dark paladin….
Dark Paladin's job is better accomplished when split between Dark Cavalry and the Buster Blader Fusion. Each are much easier to summon than Dark Paladin, and the Buster Blader Fusion gains more ATK per dragon than the paladin and also negates all opposing Dragons' effects, forces them to defense position, and deals piercing damage.
So many errors in this video 😂
Yami Yugi wasn’t the protagonist
