    Street Photography is probably my favourite type of photography to do. It's so much fun just exploring a new place with your camera, and photographing normal life as it passes by.
    The Lumix S5II and Lumix S5IIX have some great features for street photography, and in this video I delve a little deeper into the different tools you can use in camera to get better results.
    I also share a few tips and tricks to get better results when you're out doing street photography, so hopefully you find those helpful too!

      Not such a place more weather type and time of day. Night time in a city after its rain. How the lights reflect of the streets, capturing water drops falling from an object or taking a picture of how paper or litter looks when wet,

    I like the tip about focusing on a color or something like that - it can definitely be overwhelming otherwise. Killer images and I love the colour tones you're getting on the preset! Definitely buying that asap!

    Bro I have seen countless reviews for this camera but the features that you have mentioned in this video have not been discussed by any other channels. This proves what a HYBRID beast this is. Thank you for the review! I was considering sony APSC but S5|| features are amazing for both video and photo.

    It never dawned on me to look for light rather than subjects.
    I'm not super heavily into street photography but that might have been influenced by that wrong mindset. Usually they looked a little flat (both from my S5ii and G9). I think this might be why. Should hold me in good stead for a trip to Japan I'm doing new year.
    Great advice, thanks! And that LUT of yours suits the LA backdrop almost perfectly.

    Great video as always. When out taking pictures i often make sure to get different angels. I have the 3 pic rule if poss. I will take 3 pictures of the subject at different angles. Of course if the its car or moving subject i just take a single picture but will take 3 pictures of 3 different cars from 3 different angles.

    I was born in LA and lived and shot there for most of my life. Looking at your photos was like a trip through memory lane; even now I can tell exactly where you were when you shot them. I have little to add to your excellent advice except for one thing: be willing to document the streets as they are. For example, LA is a car-focused city, so you will rarely see crowds of pedestrians as you would in NYC. San Francisco is known for its hills. Philly is known for its row houses and murals, and so on. As your own examples demonstrate, it's about being more excited about what you do see than what you don't.

    • @JoshCameron

    I have a question. What color profile do you use for your photos? Personally I shoot with log to get the widest dynamic range, but when I open my photos in lightroom classic they are underexposed whereas they were superb on my lumix s5. I read on the internet that this could be due to the color profile. Have you ever encountered this problem? What color profile do you use for your lut?
    Thank you for video !!!

    I'm interested in how the stabilization works with vintage manual lenses, for photo and video. I have a collection of old manual lenses and the IBIS is key to manual focusing long lenses and for get usable videos with manual lenses. It could be a good idea for a video.

    • @JoshCameron
      @JoshCameron  7 месяцев назад +1

      Noted, thanks for the idea! Any particular vintage lenses?

    • @amermeleitor
      @amermeleitor 7 месяцев назад +2

      @@JoshCameron no one in particular. But could be interesting to try from wide to telephoto. A 28mm, something between 50 - 60mm, and a long portrait like the Nikon 180mm f2.8 or other. The longer the lens, more difficult to focus manually, even on tripod, because the trepidation. Just try what you have in hand, vintage or something new, like manual chinese lenses.

    • @Tijlliekens
      @Tijlliekens 7 месяцев назад +1

      Works like a charm! Been using a bunch of different vintage lenses vut ever since I tried the 70-210canon fd, it just lives on my S5II. Defenitly looking forward to see more content of old lenses on the s5ii (x)

    • @ryszardzokowski812
      @ryszardzokowski812 7 месяцев назад +1

      On S1H and S5II IBIS perform even better with Vintage lenses. Maybe because you must set focal lenght manually.

  • @LaurenceLee
    @LaurenceLee 7 месяцев назад

    Hey Josh, I have a question. My s5ii shutter goes off so much faster when I'm in manual focus than when using autofocus. Is there a reason for this?

    • @JoshCameron
      @JoshCameron  7 месяцев назад +1

      It's simply because the camera has one less step to do before actuating the shutter. When in manual mode, the camera only needs to close the shutter, but with autofocus switched on, it needs to acquire focus, and then close the shutter.
      So, depending on the scene you're photographing, it could take a bit longer for the shutter to actuate depending on how challenging it is for the camera to grab focus. Hope this helps!
