My 4820CH has same noise since brand new. It has the Kukje A2300, 48hp.

Mind makes that exact same noise I'm pretty sure it's normal I believe it's an anomaly that has to do with the injection timing I don't think they time to these engines for optimal power and performance they timed them for optimal fuel economy Anyway they all make that noise so if it means there's something wrong then there's something wrong with all of them

That is pretty much the conclusion I have come to. (Pre)Detonation in a diesel can mimic a mechanical noise, and since it goes away under heavy load, that is probably what it is. Yes, the engine is definitely detuned, they had to keep it at 25hp or under to not have to equip it with the emissions garbage. When the warranty is done I might adjust things a bit, I have the Cummins specs for all the power ranges and applications for the A1700, it is nominally rated at 37hp. I wrenched my way through college working as a diesel and heavy equipment mechanic.

@artthompson7805 could you share those specs with me on tuning the engine up? I just got a 2515h, mine has the same exact noise as well

@@ryanhollinger5702 Since I still have five years left on my warranty, I haven’t really looked into it.
Increasing the output is likely going to involve more than a simple adjustment.

This is great information. I bought mine about 3 weeks ago ands wondering what that sounds is. I'm glad it's normal. I'll be interested in tuning mine up when the time comes. It's good to know there's some headroom to these models.
