My 914 couldn't be in better hands! I'm super excited to see how this turns out; even if the start shows up some things that are a little more of a challenge than we might have expected...
It’s turning out to be an entertaining Sunday night, just watched the delivery on @Shmee150 channel and now seeing experts uncover what could be a horrific truth of buying a mistreated classic.
Because you are so close to the proximity of the Netherlands your best connection in needing wiring solutions is the company Kroon Wire Harnesses. Good luck on the build! A 914 owner of many. 😉

really happy to see how much you guys have grown. I was onboard back in the 1800 subscriber days. Really happy to see business growing and you guys doing well.
@@yorkshirecarrestoration Your not just entertaining your work is superb, I have worked for a while with some great engineers making spray booths and the gas heaters for them and also factory heaters from scratch very little was purchased and the welding had to be good but most of the workers could do such seamless repairs that I have seen on this channel that takes real skill.
I`m a bit older, born 1968, and i remember that here in Germany i saw quite a few of these 914 Porsches. And i really wanted one of them, actually liked the shape and the proportions of that little car a lot. So i subscribed to your channel and am looking forward to see the progress of this restoration.
I'm from the UK, born the same year (but obviously not quite as old as you ;). Our second family car was a Morris Minor that I later went on to buy/inherit. An exciting quirk to driving her was the drivers seat was only secured to the floor on one side, so every time she went round a left hand corner, it felt like the car was up on two wheels :)) Favourite feature was the foot operated high/low beam switch! a silver round button on the floor that looked like a flat mushroom, left of the clutch pedal.
Another amazing series, love Tim’s passion for all things automotive, class collaboration, well deserved recognition of being a go to place of expertise and skill, well done lads 🤩🇮🇪
I'm really looking forward to seeing this happen. And now that I'm subscribed, I will be watching all the other projects as well. Many hours of great restoration content, and I'm here for it guys!!!
I used to have a 76' 914/4 with the 2.0 liter fuel injected engine. Mine also had some rust issues. Mine would still do 120 mph. I love Porsche 914's. This is going to be a cool car when he's done. Thanks.
I'm so excited for this.. and seeing new channel.. I'm definitely going to watch all the videos as I work on my Z32.. but I can't wait for those RX cars.. you have a new fan in the U.S.

Good to see 914s are getting the recognition they deserve now. I ran a 1600cc version of the Type 4 engine in a Formula Super Vee for a couple if seasons in historic racing. Good days!
I stumbled over this channel after a furze video, you guys are amazing. And I hope these tubers are paying you proper money and not getting rediculous rebates.
The experience you make now in 2024 reminds me on my experience I had to make in the early 1980s. I bought a 1,7ltr from 1970 with a little accident at front right side. After repair of the damage I had closer look to the engine compartment and found ...... nothing under the battery. A lot of patchwork was required to pass TUV. Best regards from Germnay
Don’t worry Tim when Ryan’s finished with it it’ll look brand new again it’s in very safe hands I’m sure hes does things like this in his sleep gonna be a great project 👌 I went on holiday to Yorkshire about 30 years ago and the dude where we stayed had a red one for sale for a grand I was tempted I must admit I do like them 👍
I was involved with a 914 (Electric!) race car back in the late 90's. The brakes are terrible, but you can improve matters quite a bit by removing the pressure limiting valve from the rear firewall and throwing it as far as you can. It's the highest point in the whole hydraulic system, but has no provision for bleeding! We then fitted BMW 318i front calipers (mounting lugs need skimming), which gives you larger pistons and a much bigger pad. The chassis is quite lacking in stiffness, even when not rusty, so it's worth investing in a 'flexi-flyer' reinforcement kit.
Would be interesting to know where in Canada in began life. Lots of provinces here use massive amounts of road salt in the winter. I’d predict, based on the cars condition, even with previous repairs, it likely didn’t see too much winter driving. Being in Florida is, by comparison, a walk in the park.
Thanks for the video. This will be interesting, because we all know that there are always more hidden problems that will appear as Ryan digs in. Love it!👍
Gee whiz I love this video getting to see everything wrong with it and hearing you talk about it is so awesome Ryan but I know one thing shmees car is in the best of care with captain yorkshire in charge of it..I look forward to see you tearing into it and finding all the rust..thank you so very much for the upload buddy I really appreciate it and you guys.
After seeing a car someone sold my brother where the front wing was held on by a bent coat hanger and the inner wing of the Mk2 Estcourt was pulling away from the bulkhead as it went over bumps and that had about 10 months MOT at the time I believe you can find all sorts on old cars, I have seen cars that are 2 different years joined together with box steel rivets and some clever fiberglass work.
That rust in the rear quarter is from the hell hole, its likely that the rust there has gone into the right hand side sill aswell. Check around the jackpoints on both sides
Can't wait to see the work on 914, but I must ask as a fellow early RX-7 owner, are you going to do any episodes on the summer FB RX-7 in the background? Please
You will do great job with it! Can you do a video on the 106gti that shmee’s video showed you have in. Loved them back in the day would love to see a restored one
Much respect for Shmee and his pronunciation of Volkswagen, Audi and Porsche (yes, the e at the end is not silent). As a German, it was kinda delightful to hear these names pronounced correctly in english. Side note: Is that a Mazda (early RX-7?) in Sea-Mist-Metallic behind Shmee at the beginning of the video?
The Canadian history of this one would have put me off, because of the road salt used in the northern areas. Tim should have searched for one of these while he was here in the US southwest. That's where all the good restorable cars come from. I'd swap a Subaru flat 4 or 6 into it if it was mine, even if it means losing the 'frunk' for radiators.
You would be surprised how good a stock 2.0 litre motor runs and more reliable than a Subaru, never have to worry about head gaskets or coolant issues. If you drove a good one you would be impressed. I was a Porsche tech and when I serviced my first 914 2.0 litre in 1973 I bought one and still own it, all original, but of course I didn’t drive it in a Canadian winter.
This is going to be an amazing repair! I think it would be quicker to build the body from scratch rather than repair the original considering how much of it needs to be done. I'm only slightly joking. :)
This is certainly a project. With all old cars, one man's meat and all that, I never really understood the interest in these cars, but thankfully we are all different. That is a shed, it will be very interesting seeing how YCR tackle it. maybe time to invest in a Celette jig? Don't know if anyone else caught it, but the amazingly comprehensive comment from someone who was obviously an expert on restoring these cars has just mysteriously disappeared. I was going to suggest YCR offer him a temporary job! Anyhow, tons of great content to come on what is fast becoming a mega favourite channel.
We haven't removed any comments, we don't need to invest in a jig as we already have one and obviously it will need going on the jig as you will see in comming vids. I (Steve) have been restoring cars like this for almost 30 years so no need to employ anyone. But thank you for watching.
@@yorkshirecarrestorationThink I might have caught you at a bad moment or something. Same with motorcycles. Yet my favourite bikes are the oldest (1977) and the “rescues” are the most satisfying. When I ride a beautiful looking & working bike that had been tortured, killed and left in a rotting shed, I enjoy every moment of the stupidly expensive restoration I’ve done.
