I grew up in Scandinavia, I had the same relationship with librarys when I was young, in the 70's, my family lived the whole summer at our rent-summerhouse near a lake, and once a month the library-bus came! We almost emptied the bus every time, I mostly read everything by Enid Blyton! I loved books❤
I read that if you want a friend,compliment that person first, whatever it is he/she is doing, "you really skate so good"! Your footballskills are awsome!, You knitted that blanket so nicely....then after a few complimrnts you can try to talk alittle more. I taught this to my son and he said it really worked so good for him in school to make friends.
😂 I have Asperger's/autism and my mom made me read that when I was a young teenager, lol. I'm almost the age Sheldon is supposed to be (a few years younger) and as a female with autism I hadn't yet been diagnosed. We didn't know why I was different but she always tried her hardest to help me. I was not the least bit happy about being forced to read that book, but it was the beginning of my journey towards becoming a decent human being... though I still don't have any friends, but at least people think I'm sweet and don't realize I'm on the spectrum.
I almost never bothered making friends because I had a twin sister. Sadly she’s enslaved under conservatorship now by our abusive foster parent and not allowed to even talk to me.
And ESPECIALLY if you’re autistic. I’m autistic too so I have a harder time making friends but there are some really good friends I have and some of them are also on the spectrum.
