Wow, look away kids -- or watch and learn, because this is terrible shop technique. Rushed and reckless. How do you still have all of your fingers hacking away with a box cutter like that? I saw your bench vise, but you drilled into ABS or GFR plastic without it? Some kid trying to mod nerf is going to watch one of these videos, grab their dad's drill, and start trying to drill holes with one hand and hold the blaster in the other, slip, and drill a hole in their hand. Guaran-fuckin-teeit. Oh and you have calipers but don't use them to measure barrel ID and dart OD? Sloppy. Sorry for going off on you shit like this just makes me cringe. Best part of this video is when you were wearing your safety squints and ear protection. Please try to set a better example in the future.
I was drunk and justin started filming. This is not a role model video. That said, every risk taken was calculated. I always cut away from myself with the box cutter, the torque on the part from the drill bit is tiny, the "slip of the blaster" was a deliberate over rev and not an accident (you can hear me say "got him!" before it cuts), There is no point calipering the ID of the barrel since there is no way to measure anything but the smallest ID at the tip which is too small. But thanks for being the OSHA guy, a lot of people will not be as familiar with tools as I am to know what risks are safe and what are not
Hey guys, me mig and psyk have done these with better performance. A big part of the issue it seems for you may be the tank outlet valve, the seal between the tank and the turret, and although those barrels seem to be snug, you may be losing quite a bit of power there as well. That's just from my experience with it. I also couldn't tell from the video, but double check that the barrels are fully rotating before air release/tank fire
THe barrel definitely rotates and fires properly (I stared down it while wearing safety glasses!) and I'm pretty sure you're right with the turret seal being bad. I might try buffing the spring and using better padding or something -R
If there is anything I learned from this video is that Ryan really likes saying "Okay, so..." Can that be in every mod tutorial video, just a montage of Ryan saying that?
heheh there is always a phrase that my brain uses to prime myself for talking like "okay so", :alright so basically" etc etc. Helps me start talking and then not stop till im done -R
I know you made it as a joke, but "sprangathang" is actually used lol. See it a lot on the forums and RUclips channels and anyone saying we don't, or "I've never heard that" is lying to make you look foolish.
No one is lying that says that term isn't used. I've worked in many jobs, and have worked on a modded atv's, motorcycles, RC cars, tons and tons of mountain bikes, air rifles, and now dart guns and never have used that term nor had anyone around me use that term... It's a case of some people have never used the term, nor seen it, and simply the fact that some have. In short, it's not a commonly used term, but some internet groups must be passing it around amongst themselves.
Got me! But really, many people likely haven't ever heard that term used. Of all of the paid work and just good old tinkering I've done in multiple fields, when watching the video I had to kind of wonder who gave you guys the idea that was a normal term, as I'd never heard it once in multiple types of work where springs are used. Just sounds like a slang term that some use and others don't. Still, great video! Love to see the follow-up where you get that Air Max 10 working on a bigger tank. I personally love the Buzz Bee stuff (just got extra clips in 2 days ago for my Destiny along with extra 12 round mags for the Mega darts). Great company to take on Nerf, and they're great to deal with. I like seeing you guys at MTB showcase some Buzzy stuff.
IAmBobololo I'm am engineer in the US auto manufacturing industry. we use the term frequently within our company and with OEMs like GM, Ford and Tesla. I always just assumed everyone used it since its an industry standard term.
Hi guys, I actually worked with one of these early on. I put an XBZ in to see if I could get the power, and it worked. I always intended to come back once I built up my skills. I remember having to improve the spring pressure between the tank and turret to get it firing properly. I tried to make long barrelled, swappable turrets so the blaster would actually be practical. I failed to make a workable friction fit to plug the barrels into the original turret, so I was thinking magnets this time. How would you make this into a swappable turret blaster?
I just order an Air Max 6 after watching this video, I realize this thing is capable of semi-auto, so in theory, If one can find a small enough rubber bladder, or heck rig a soda bottle to the air line, you could basically make these into a poor mans Mad Hornet.
You know what would sell well? A t-shirt with MTB quotes. One t-shirt says "ok, so" and have that plastered all over the fucking shirt. Needs other quotes but I can't think of any right now
Thats not how those tanks work, it doesnt matter how much air is between the valve and the tank as there is basically an internal one way valve that is reversed as soon as there is a pressure differential and all the tank air so dumped out the front -R
It is. The combination of a one way valve from the pump and the vent button acts as a poor mans 3/2 valve. The blast button vents no air from the inside of the tank since there is what is effectively a one way valve inside it. Its a bit hard to explain via text sorry -R
Close! Its the shirt of VMM-264 as I think you figured out :D I freakin love the Osprey (I'm an aeronautical engineer and aircraft fanatic) and I met these guys at RIAT airshow in 2012 and had an absolute blast talking to them so I bought their shirt and patch. I took some great photos of their display too!
No. They are aftermarket gen 3 Koosh Darts. They come in any color you want, I got them in neon orange. You're like the 10th person to assume they were old school streamlines. :D -Justin
you can make the tank biger, we german have do this.. a DIY is in the Blasted.de Forum. its easy blasted.de/threads/airmax-tankerweiterung.4699/#post-69944

Jack Ryan he was drunk for the first half of the video ._.
I like the fact that you did most of the work within one single day.
Good work!
pSykSG And even at 2:00AM in the morning .-.

I love how the petg amd dart that shot out got better performance than the rest

Maybe the Pull-Ring Turret mod like peeps used to do on Swarmfires.
-Justin
Where do you bought your pneumatic stuff ? Can you gives us names ?
Thank you for your videos !!!

Conversation between Ryan and PSYK
R: How do I make the Airmax Ten better
PSYK: Longshot Lube Man, Custome 3D print Man
You guys are great at moding !👍🏾🤘🏾👌🏾
The proper term here in Minnesota is Spring-a-ma-thing
I just order an Air Max 6 after watching this video, I realize this thing is capable of semi-auto, so in theory, If one can find a small enough rubber bladder, or heck rig a soda bottle to the air line, you could basically make these into a poor mans Mad Hornet.
Yes we do say "getting into the spring of things"
Where can I find similar fit petg? Some of the stuff I've bought in the past with thick walled 1/2", but darts didn't have a lose-fit.
"Don't try this at home kids"." Oh shit fuck.."
You know what would sell well? A t-shirt with MTB quotes. One t-shirt says "ok, so" and have that plastered all over the fucking shirt. Needs other quotes but I can't think of any right now
Put a hornet tank in it. It would probably work a lot better
Is that a new 3d printer? (The big one) what is it?
It's called "The Beast" by Cultivate3D.
-Justin
Drunk modding everybody
Awesomeness me video guys great work
The release button probably vents too much air, leaving none in the tank. :S Great concept tho
Thats not how those tanks work, it doesnt matter how much air is between the valve and the tank as there is basically an internal one way valve that is reversed as soon as there is a pressure differential and all the tank air so dumped out the front -R
I thought that control was done by the stock blast button. Could be wrong.
It is. The combination of a one way valve from the pump and the vent button acts as a poor mans 3/2 valve. The blast button vents no air from the inside of the tank since there is what is effectively a one way valve inside it. Its a bit hard to explain via text sorry -R
Nice squadron t-shirt. The insignia looked like the one for my old squadron HSL 46. On closer look its not. Looks like your fan of Ospreys.
Close! Its the shirt of VMM-264 as I think you figured out :D I freakin love the Osprey (I'm an aeronautical engineer and aircraft fanatic) and I met these guys at RIAT airshow in 2012 and had an absolute blast talking to them so I bought their shirt and patch. you guys should make an Hpa Maverick
Oxolotleman why? For an ultimate sleeper?
what was the printer in the back and ey from melbourne straya mate
you have so much room for a tank in that gun, and yet, the tank is super tiny. wtf XD
You should do a colab with angus from makers muse and do a bunch of 3d printed parts
random question, why are you guys always modding and doing stuff during the early hours of the morning
what was the attachment on the front of Ryan's electric screwdriver? I can't seem to find it online.
Its the torque setting adapter -R
www.bosch-do-it.com/gb/en/diy/tools/ixo-collection-torque-setting-adapter-3165140776264-category-pmdb-id.jsp
Make.Test.Battle where do you get FEJ's?
FVJs? ebay, aliexpress, etc.
Though sellers don't use the term FVJ.
-Justin
ADD A TITAN TANK! MWUAHAHAHAHA
:O
-Justin
American Nerfer here. ... we call them 'Thingy'
hey guys there's this new invention called a Dremel you should use it sometime
we don't call them sprang a thang we call them springs JUST SPRINGS
Has the work on the pump action shotgun stalled? Why did you take down the video for it?
It was never published and I am having 3D printer trouble so I cant print parts right now :( -R
:(
As an American, I can confirm that "spring-a-thing" and "spring thing" are NOT a thing in America.
damn... I was so sure... :P
what are the dimensions for the PETG he uses
no, we don't call springs spring things.
18:03 what's that yellow, orange and blue gun on the table?
the seal between the tank and turret sucks . it leaks a lot
so where's the link to the files for that crimping tool?
www.thingiverse.com/thing:2251604
Damn, now I want one!
Can you make it available to buy the shirts on American apparel tshirts because I like the quality of those better, thanks
I picked the "Premium Tee" option instead of "Budget Tee" on TeeSpring.
-Justin
please do a tank expansion guide
Has there been any updates to the thunder hornet?
Nah.
-Justin
+Joshua Greig love your profile picture!
take the airforce blowgun and make something
Check the seals between the tank and the turret
See if you can put a retaliator pump grip kit in a Tri-Strike
I have one but you would need to epoxy back the slide because I somehow broke it
Didn't we do this in January?
>.> -R
where do I find petg?
the air max 6 hits harder and probably has a bigger tank
Papa Goose same tank
You look like my mom after one sake shot(your drunk were ya)?
Yes, he was.
-Justin
Funnily enough if I recall correctly sake was the drink of choice that night... -R
I'm pretty sure no one has sprangathang for at least 20 years.
You just said it now.
-Justin
Godamnit I played myself.
THe Plot from the movie "Contact" was USed to help aid the part of the video 12:25
66 Fps
"EXECUTIVE ORDER 66!!!"
Sergeant Serendipity LMAO 😂
We don't say sprangathang but im going to
no its spring
yes
Lol what did i just watch
7:08 no we don't say that
Hi
hell no we don't sat that
Try a hpa rapidfire 20
Already did that! -R
Just replace the crappy stock pump with a "tire valve to MIP" adapter and some extra nylon tubing, all from the hardware store, and DONE.
Confirm! I am American
Hell no! I'm American and from the south, we do not say that.
Brown Davies He watches too much non-American youtubers
Lel. Doodleaccike
-Ryan MTB 2017
Okay sooo
I am American i can confirm
no one in America says that
No all
Ok so
try maverick tank
A maverick uses a piston not a tank -R
rcman 247 stupid
If it's pathetic use elites!
No. Using Nerf branded Elite darts wouldn't change the facts that the air tank is too small and the back of the turret isn't sealing properly.
-Justin
well they fly fast cuz there crap and plus ur
using old streamlines
No. They are aftermarket gen 3 Koosh Darts. They come in any color you want, I got them in neon orange.
You're like the 10th person to assume they were old school streamlines. :D
-Justin
Brass?
And large asf tank
it swing of things but ok i am american
you can make the tank biger, we german have do this.. a DIY is in the Blasted.de Forum. its easy
