This is brilliant! It came up on my browser while searching for content on the US college campus protests on Gaza. I live in Greece and sadly all mainstream channels here are at best keeping quiet on the matter, or are plain pro-Israel. Few independent media, mostly internet-based, are speaking about the genocide in Gaza. And I just wanted to say, the protests have restored my faith to humanity.
Thank you for not letting people forget about the atrocities in Gaza and holding the US and Israeli governments to account.
How about the Palestinian government? Don't forget holding them accountable.

I have not seen any mainstream media be able to say things about Israel so directly and at the same time in a neutral way. Very effective way to present the truth to a vast audience.
I would disagree. Jon, and I guess by extension, the whole team, don't appear to be "neutral" to the tragedies in Gaza, as they evidently care deeply about it (and the hypocrisies enabling it). But they're being markedly fair and objective!

He's absolutely right...that level of hypocrisy within our foreign policy, especially in the case of Israel, with whom we have SIGNIFICANT leverage absolutely is unconscionable. We need to do better, and if we are going to insist on cosplaying Team America: World Police, we should at least be holding everyone accountable to the same standards, ourselves included.

Section 1091 of Title 18, United States Code, prohibits genocide whether committed in time of peace or time of war. Genocide is defined in § 1091 and includes violent attacks with the specific intent to destroy, in whole or in part, a national, ethnic, racial, or religious group.
That is how the US defines it. In whole or in part.

I find it concerning that I’ve been saying all this about Afghanistan, Iraq, and Israel/Palestine since 2001 when I was 17, and yet some ‘adults’ from then still haven’t figured it out 22 years later. If you are claiming to be the ‘righteous’ party in a conflict, you have to do the right thing even if it puts you at a disadvantage.

They used the Hamas attacks as a pretext for the attack on the civilian population of Gaza that Likud has been wanting to carry out, which is in lock step with the program of the Herut party (that's Likud's daddy) since the day it was founded one month after the state of Israel was declared. Many Likudniks consider Sharon a traitor for his unilateral pullout from Gaza because he "gave away" part of Greater Israel (even though he did it as a tactical move to strengthen the program to absorb parts he considered more important), and they saw this as a golden opportunity to get back in while having a leg up in the PR war.
And in this case it wouldn't even put US at a disadvantage to use their weapon support as leverage to strong-arm Netanyahu to a cease-fire, open negotiations and transfer of hostages. It would show that they don't bend on their foreign policy just because of active partnerships. Although the EU hasn't done much better in promoting their two state approach either and some European states send weapons there as well. Either US or EU needs to step up at some point and show some spine or their foreign policy principles will never be respected again.
It’s painful to be self-critical, go against one’s own cultural groups who over-power us all with patriotic, Christian nationalism propaganda to guilt people in their local, social support systems using scare tactics to brainwash their life stability. This is the methodology of applied fascism being used by politicians in our donor controlled corporate government and media. Jon Stewart is way ahead of the intelligence curve. He can be funny, he can cutting, but he’s always brilliant. Even when he’s doing the comedy there is still an “edge” to his persona. I missed him when he was gone.

I'm only saying this because of one simple reason: I don't understand why Stewart is being put on this untouchable hill like he is Christ himself when he is just another cool great commentator as Colbert, Oliver and Noah. Honestly the attitude towards Stewart feels a little cultish.

They've published countless more stories chronicling how Bibi in his own words personally supported Hamas, curated their rise to power, and funded them to the tune of $30m a MONTH to better divide the Palestinians and so he could use them to undermine any pressure for a 2 state solution or a Palestinian state. By their OWN WORDS, this war is NOT about Oct 7 - they have repeatedly said publicly in Hebrew that their goal is ethnically cleansing Gaza of Palestinians Aka "thin out the population" "mow the lawn" etc. to claim their "rightful lands".

Perhaps in that instance the Frenchman was made fun of for the blatant but somehow hidden colonialism in Africa. France doesn’t really have the moral high ground on these issues, though so few people know the extent of it.
The US patriots declared war on French wine and did what any red-blooded 'concerned' freedom fighter would do, stopped referring to them as French fries- hence-forth they would be "Freedom Fries" for as long as Old Glory flies over our HOMELAND or until people got tired of it.

This movement is relying on the fact that the majority of non-Muslim Americans have never once read the Quran in its entirety. All they see are dead kids in Gaza and thousands of war casualties never once examining how the fact that all these deaths are a result of the inability of many of those Muslims on that side of the world to simply live peacefully with the Jewish people in Israel because their religion of Islam teaches them NOT to live peacefully with them and that they should all be eliminated in principle. So when they're constantly attacking Israel due to that religiously-induced hatred and Israel responds accordingly like any country would, then of course it makes Israel out to be the bad guy when it's actually the complete opposite. Sad, right?

The civilian death toll in Gaza and how these numbers are completely manipulated by Hamas and are not questioned by the mass media and Jon just falls for it.
1. About 12k of the 33k who died are Hamas fighters.
2. Another 5k are natural deaths that would have happened anyway (in a population of 2.2 mil).
3. According to Hamas figures, 70% of the deaths are women and children, thus 10k are men. If Israel killed 12k out of the 33k, almost all of whom are men - that makes all men that died in Gaza Hamas fighters, as well as 2k of the women and children. Hamas lies.
4. The actual rate of civilian to combatant in Gaza is less than 1:1, better than most modern wars between ANY western armies.
5. Another very significant number of deaths was caused by 25% of Hamas' rockets (about 3000 rockets landed in Gaza shot from Gaza) that landed in Gaza on its population that has no shelters and is not allowed in the tunnels.
6. An additional number of deaths was caused by a dysfunctioning healthcare system, abused by Hamas in contrast with international law, causing these places to become military targets rather than places of healing and serve as safe havens.
7. Hamas uses child soldiers. That's why there are 33% more 14-17-year-old boys that died in the fighting, whereas no such gap is found in the 0-9-year-old casualties.
The death toll is high and real, but Hamas needs to lie and inflate the civilian casualty figures to survive by getting the international press to pressure Israel to stop. The truth matters and so do the facts. Spread the truth.
