I have used the Sonax Alcantara Cleaner with great success on my GT3 and on my friends BMW. Just remember when using a brush use light pressure so you don’t damage the alcantara. Great video! 👍
Great video. Actually more recently I find that if I just use a good leather brush consistently I don’t need to use cleaners very much. It keeps the fibers loose and actually removes the dust and dirt quite well and prevents build up of the cleaner.
Great video as always AF! I bought some of the Sonax cleaner years ago when you posted the video on the red GT350. The cleaner works great if people are timid on using a wire brush on the steering wheel you can use a soft bristle toothbrush as well to get good results FYI !
Thank you for explaining not only the how, but the why. I find it so useful in learning when someone explains why! With the wipes - I can't get either of those 2 brands where I am. There are a million wipes to choose from - baby, bbq, oven, antibacterial disinfectant, heavy duty etc.. is there something I should make sure to avoid?
Excellent video!!! I haven’t used any liquid on my alcantara steering wheel or my recaro seats. Picked up some soft bristled brushes from O’Riely auto parts. Basically I just brush the alcantara without any liquid for fear of ruining it. Your video has alleviated some of that fear. Come spring I will use the advice in your video. Thanks!!
So the fast orange hand wipes worked great on your tools as well if you have that rubberized material like plastic dip on your tools it really cleans something like that up really well !
yeah i use the wipes for lots of stuff and discovered how well it worked on Alcantara about 10 years back when I was at show and a transport guy got the seats dirty on a customers Ferrari he had some on his trailer and it worked awesome.
AF another great video!! Im looking forward to your specific videos on detailing. I would love to see more of how you go about polishing and paint correcting!
Thanks for this video! I recently bought a type r and the top of the alcantara wheel is matted down and flat and I want to bring it back to life, I hope this works for me!
@@autofanaticcars I have about 30-40 new towels in a box and a new bottle of the sonax cleaner I purchased a week ago along with their brush. Gonna be a fun pre superbowl cleaning session lol
Use Sonax for my 13 Boss 302 SW with a high quality soft bristles brush I picked up from AMMO NYC & have been very happy with results. Also use a $5 (washable) fabric SW cover I picked up from Walmart for when I play tennis or hands are sweaty otherwise or when I drop the car off at the Ford dealer for service to further protect & minimize the dirt accumulation some. Thanks for the post & tips otherwise as I'll try a couple of the add'l products you use on my next cleaning. Would definitely be interested in the engine bay cleaning & what parts needs protected related thereto.
Great Video. Hopefully I will minimize my cleanings by wearing what I designated as driving gloves. Which is a pair of original Mechanix Gear Gloves. I cut the thumb and index finger about half way for touch screen use.
Always found this gen of mustangs strange how they went round vents in the middle and rectangle by each door. It probably bothers me too much…but it wouldn’t stop me from owning a Mustang Cobra (for instance) 😅 But ya…never really understood their thinking…it just felt like they quite part way through the design. I figure they should have stuck with rectangle across the centre of the dash or on circle vents on all of them.
you can use on suede i have a stiffer brass brush for boots and jackets I use but you do not want to over wet the suede as it can become stiff and hard when it dries

Many thanks for this. I recently bought a car with alcantara literally everwhere, and have been looking for all sorts of tips.
Sonax stuff are pretty legit they’re perfect finish works awesome!

Thanks Phil for the demonstration. 👍🏻👍🏻

Thank you so much for this video. I like how you explain everything in detail which will aid in the longivity of the alcantara.
Glad you enjoyed it!
Nice video love the details on the actual science behind the material
Great idea to make these individual detail videos.. can’t wait for more!
After u re-built my wheel, it’s all I ever use, great video, thanks for the demo!
Right on!
Another great video from uncle Phil! Thanks playa!

hello, what paint do you recommend to restore the middle ring of the red steering wheel?

excellent video, but do you really think it is necessary to use hand wipes ?
There a safe and simple way to clean and not harsh
@@autofanaticcars This process will work well for maintaining a well-maintained surface, correct?
Thanks for this video. After a month should I add a layer of carpro essence plus or fusso ? Thank you.
you dont use those products on the interior ever
Perfect video thank you sir. Keep them coming.

Where did you get the brass brush? Can’t find a nice one like that. Great video 👍
local shoe repair shop best place to find one
Good information Phil.

So the brass is actually softer than a nylon brush I’m assuming Phil? Interesting
yes the hairs on my brass brush are ultra fine i use it for all my suede jobs and boots
Does this technique work for suede also?

I need to do this to my Aston. Just been scared 😂🤣
Hahaha! Amazon claims Fast Orange wipes do not fit my 2018 GT350!
ha ha ha thats funny
Why do they even put alcatara in cars it seems like a pain to clean and seems less durable then regular leather they just being cheap ?
Better grip, lighter weight than leather and much more expensive than leather
@@autofanaticcars but it seems less durable how much weight diffrece is a alcatara steering wheel gonna make compared to a leather one ?
I would highly suggest against using a brass brush. I ruined my wheel using one.
Brass? Bro why would you ever use that!
