Your one lucky SOB Cargellin.. I only have a lowly C7 Corvette Z51 M7 Velocity Yellow with a Supercharger , long tube headers, xpipe.. But this video really helped on cleaning my alcantara steering wheel.. :)
Love your work! I usually use a dedicated alacantara cleaner with a detail brush and gently agitate the product on the surface. I wipe it down with a microfibre like you are doing and brush the alcantara at the end!
Great information sir and good instruction on how to get Alcantara clean and restored SAFELY! That's the key with Alcantara. Take your time! It's a durable material if you keep it clean from the beginning. Even once a month "maintenance" cleaning makes a HUGE difference with Alcantara.
The trick is definitely keeping it clean from the beginning lol. To many people are letting it go years then trying to reverse it. That's when Mr magic hands needs to get involved and do witchcraft lol
@@STATUSDETAIL Absolutely. Wealthy people generally don't tend to be into detailing (Very very few) because they either don't have the time for it, or, quite simply, just don't care about it. If their expensive supercar get's all trashed up, they just sell it and buy a new one. OR, thankfully for detailers, they bring them to a reputable detailing facility to get it brought back to new like condition. On the flip side of that thought, if you and I owned one of these beautiful machines, I would be out in my garage on a daily basis wiping off the steering wheel of any oils, wiping and vacuuming the interior every day, rinseless washing it after every use, etc. etc. Hell, I do that with my Nissan 370Z which is in like new condition after 9 years with only 15,000 miles on it. It literally still smells brand new inside. If I had this Supercar, I'd probably sleep next to it every night, LOL.

Good information. However, I have never seen anyone use interior cleaner on alcantara. I’ve used sonax alcantara cleaner for years and found the best results with that, I use the same methodology as you though. Good to know there is another way!
You definitely can but probably only really needed on the crazy dirty stuff. But having said that the gt3rs steering wheel was really bad. Worse than the LT. And that came out amazing
so glad Im not the only one that thinks the carpet lines on the dash, doors etc are tacky on a supercar. Use them on the carpet if you like but please stop doing it on the dash, doors and a pillars.

If they are alcantara then this method works. If the car is literally brand new then I'd wipe once with gyeon prep then go for it. I personally do not really like smart fabric on alcantara seats. Or steering wheels. I use l1 leather gaurd actually and reapply more frequently. Smart fabric in my experience slightly altera the feel and has a pretty strong smell. It's great on convertible tops and carpets. But other people will disagree with my opinion. So you can definitely use it in an interiors on your seats or even on fabric seats

I would probably try the exact same method I just showed in this video but if you're really struggling you might want to try diluting Tide and water into a spray bottle.

It should be fine. But everyone's idea of soft and medium will be different...... So this is not legal advice lol In theory a soft brush attachment on a vacuum should be fine 👍

I clean my wheel regularly so there is not much dirt left, mainly the material feels dry and flat. After next cleaning if I brush more like you are doing will that bring back the fluff or is there a point where its too far gone? (Bought it used and the previous owner NEVER cleaned it)
How many miles on this car? How old is it? How do you clean it? Assuming it's not very old... Like ten years and really dirty I believe you can save it. It's pretty important to really "scrub" the fibers when damp with cleaner. Then use dry towels to suck that moisture out. Then brush the lightly damp fibers to kind of revive them. Will this same stuff work with a different leather cleaner? Or is there something specific about the Geyon cleaner? I’ve got a Type R and I need to clean my driver seat up. Cars a few years old and it’s starting to look a bit dirty and worn down.
You know that backing glue that is yellow color on the back of headliners ? I have that all over my B pillar that is wrapped in Alcatara because I removed B Pilar and some of the Al cantata is full of that dried glue material . Will that come clean the way you did the steering wheel ?
@@Rezparviz hmm I'm not sure. I have never tried to clean something like that. This method might work. Getting it wet enough might soften the glue and dissolve it enough to remove with the microfiber. Be gentle and follow the steps. If fine correctly at the very least I don't think it will get worse.
Would it be wise to do a "rinse" pass after the cleaning to try and draw as much cleaner out as possible so it doesn't act as an attractant for more dirt?
I really don't want to add extra moisture in for no reason so technically doing that might just get more water in the fabric. It's tough to say though it could potentially help. By the time I'm finished with this process I never feel like there's any soap left behind and the steering wheel is pretty clear as well It could be something worth trying though
@@santotepicoelchico if it's fuzzy and I'm understanding that description then it's probably fraying and I don't really know a fix for that. It's kind of like ripping itself apart. Usually from aggressive or improper cleaning. By nature alcantara is a little bit fuzzy. So I'm guessing yours is really fuzzy to use this term.

Typically speaking alcantara is synthetic. It's not real suede. I just tried to Google active x suede and alcantara and didn't get much info. The photo looked like a normal cloth seat. So not sure I can speak to that material. But gyeon leather will work on fake leather. Or sealed leather like previous older ford gen interiors. I would assume any alcantara type surface you have in your car especially if it's high touch like a steering wheel will benefit from this process. Until I see this stuff up close tho I can't say with 100% certainty

How do you stop the peeling on alcantera? Or at least clean off the lose fibers. My steering wheel has little fiber like pieces peeling off where my hands are while driving and it is annoying and I can’t get rid of it

They change the name from mild to natural and I have not updated the website yet. That is the correct product though identical. I tried this. The more times you clean it the worse it looks after it drys because you’re pulling the black color out of it I think . What I want to see is how to get it black again like when it was new
Hmm I have not yet seen that. My current daily driver has alcantara steering wheel. We will see how it holds up. I keep it pretty clean. It should not need repeated hardcore deep cleanings. Just minor stuff once it's fully sorted out. When I first got the car it looked terrible
@@STATUSDETAIL if the wheel is all alcantara you might not notice it as much .just google a pic of a mercedes amg car with leather/alcantara wheel and look at them brand new vs ones that are even 3-5 years old . Alcantara is always way lighter after a few years

That doesn't make sense to make a steering wheel completely wrapped in synthetic suede... Guess thats why you drive with leather gloves on... It is a super car though
Yeah leather is much preferred for a daily imo. My car has alcantara on either side of where you normally hold the steering wheel (3 and 9 o'clock) and it's a bit of a pain to keep it looking good. You barely even need to do anything with leather if your car gets parked in a garage.

Many of my customers with super cars wash and do maintenance details at home. They love it and it's very relaxing for them.
I’d still do it. It’s satisfying to put the effort and see the payoff.

The Gyeon leather brush is a medium softness in my opinion. The detail factory brush is very soft

Natural is mild actually! They changed the labels recently.

Yeah leather is much preferred for a daily imo. My car has alcantara on either side of where you normally hold the steering wheel (3 and 9 o'clock) and it's a bit of a pain to keep it looking good. You barely even need to do anything with leather if your car gets parked in a garage.
