Two new Abom Quotes for the day "I'm a machinist, not a grinder." and "I'm a machinist first, a welder later." Gold!

Adam, I want to share with you that you have caught the attention of my 13yr old daughter. She's really interested in welding and now has become increasingly interested in machining. She also loves operating farm equipment now and had played around on some small excavators also. She says she wants to learn to do it all. She likes the Tig welding you did in this video. Thanks for posting these family friendly videos. You just never know who you are inspiring for the future.

Adam, for sure, you're a machinist and a good welder but overall, you're a perfectionnist, it is the most important quality for a machinist.

It's his own shop. He used to work at another shop and built this shop up during the weekends and after work. About a year or so ago he decided to go on his own full-time, depending on the revenue from Patreon, this channel, and the jobs he does at his shop.

Adam , it always amazes me how different machinists are trained to do the same job. I hope some day to run up to north Fl. & sit down with you and have a looooong talk , we do things somewhat differently because we were trained differently , I have learned a few tricks from you on lathe work ,( thank you very much ) I would love to show you a few things on a knee mill to repay that kindness ! :) Keep in mind I got my journeyman machinist book in 1977 (McDonnell aircraft AFL-CIO local 31 ) so I been at it a long time. Over the years we in the machinist trade all learn from each other as the guy that tells you " they know it all !" ----- oh boy , Stay away from him lol . My opinion is the more we get to watch others do the work the more we all learn. M/P

My O' math teacher had a phrase he called it the "Art of Mathematics; knowing many methods of get to an answer and finding the best way to get there. The understanding of functions and the ability to dance with the numbers." He would add "Everyone has there own dance and best way to get there." He really like it when I used the phrase, "I got to the answer after Massaging the numbers." Awww the good ol' days!

Just wanna say love the channel. I work in the food and beverage industry welding stainless. After we make a weld we let it cool a minute and hit the piece with a wire brush while still hot and it takes of the discoloration. looks much better. Unless you gonna paint it. Just passing on a little tip. Awesome videos thanks again.

Hi Adam, I'm new to your channel and have probably watched dozens of your videos over the last number of weeks since subscribed. I have thoroughly enjoyed each and everyone of them so far and although I've been in the trade and Manufacturing / Production Industry for almost 50 years (qualified as a Fitter & Turner 1970 - 1974), one is never too old to still learn new tricks. I admire your skill to not only just perform your projects on your machines and equipment, but also your ability to keep your audience (at least in my case) entertained throughout your videos. I'm from South Africa and since we're currently "Locked Down" to mid April, I'll probably watch ALL your videos to pass the time as I just love the conventional equipment and methods. Well done and keep up the good work and I can't wait for the next project ... !!
PS. Just loved the comment on the chamfers : - "I'm a Machinist, not a Grinder" !!

Re: the welding critique; Good enough, satisfactory, sufficient, acceptable, suitable, reasonable, agreeable, adequate, usable, all right; these words do not necessarily mean compromise in any endeavor, just a point at which nothing further of substance will be gained by additional effort. Don't let perfection be the enemy of good enough.☺

I would have left just enough on the overall length on the welded end to clean up both pieces after the weld on the grooved end to really make it look like one piece. Take it for what it worth but I will still be watching.
