Unmask Art i understand good art takes time but my question to you is can I start a drawing and come back to it week later and it still be great..... I always feel like I have to rush my work since I never have set time to dedicate to my art
I have a painting that I've been working on for 6 months now. I just work on it when I feel it. I have no doubt it will come out great. Because I never forced it to completion. Sometimes fresh eyes makes it better.
Yes very helpful. You didn't mention one point you pointed out in your earlier videos: sharpen your pencils! As for suggested topics, I haven't watched all your videos yet so I don't know if you've covered these topics but drawing trees and foliage with coloured pencil is something I have most trouble getting to look right. Maybe three topics, close, medium and long distance? Also tips on highlights on semi-gloss (like skin) and glossy (like glass/metal) surfaces?
Unmask Art This is really helpful, thank you! I’ve just started with coloured pencils on my channel so am interested to get as much advice as possible 👍🏻😊
thank you for this video, it has already helped me. I am disabled & a senior with terrible hand tremors. so anything I can learn will help me. again, thanks
Hi Teresa, I sympathise with you because of medication I have a hand tremor and I find coloured pencils are the best way to covercome this because you have more control. I am a senior now and with lockdown here, having a hobby like this really helps, Best wishes Yve
This is super clear and helpful. Sometimes other artists will stress me out so much about color theory and color blending and color this and that and never once really talk about the sketch. And uh...you're gorgeous too, thanks so much for the video ❤🎉
I spend a lot of time learning coloring techniques from various videos, and you are, hands down, the best teacher/demonstrator I have found so far. You are low key, patient, and clear in your explanations. I especially appreciate that you identify the colors you are using, specifically with the brand and number. I would move on to your patron site, but admit that I am not as interested in most of the subject areas (people, pets, animals etc) taught there. Peace.
No, he looks like he is staring into the screen he is reading from. It is a very simple video that does not go very deep, and if he wants to increase his followers for more complex instruction he needs to learn to actually lecture or teach without reading.
I really enjoyed this short video and although I have used coloured pencils for sometime I found it educational. I have just ordered the new 100 set of Derwent Lightfast and cant wait to get them and try them out. Love your style of teaching and peace to you in this troubled world.
My coloring is limited by stamped images for cardmaking. But want them to look as good as I can and love colored pencils. You are an excellent teacher. Thank you
Loved your video! I just started drawing and using color pencils. Learned a few things along the way, on my own. Your video helped me leap ahead. Thanks!!
YES!!! I don’t do my own artwork, at least not at this point....although I am getting to where I am starting to add in my own elements to images that I am coloring, especially if there is a lot of negative space around the image, so who knows, maybe eventually I will. So many colorists sadly do not understand how vital it is to layer, layer and layer some more...a few do, but so many say, “Why? It’s just coloring for relaxation! That many layers isn’t necessary!” My response always is, “How realistic do you want it to look?” Most aren’t into super realistic though and have zero desire to do so. For me, I am continually working on getting as realistic as possible. I have come a long way, but have a long way to go still .
Made by a steady hand, Thank you also your drawings makes you always calm n steady so it's easy to make another new drawings, I Wanna Try it Myself I got some steps from You
What a nice little video; thanks so much for taking out the time to share your knowledge! 💕 I also love all of the art in the background!! Those swatches and chibis... so cool!! ❤️
G'day from AUstralia, mate. I have a question about old wrinkly skin. I am trying to get a most realistik texture, which means that the wrinkles need to be convincing. The veins and the skin discolourings are working fine, but the skin is yellowish and between the wrinkle lines there are highlights, which make the yellowish skin even paler. I've tried to cut eraser pieces into shape, which didn't work well and then I applied white pencil, which had no significant effect at all. White never seems to cover properly and I was wondering if there are other methods to create smooth, silky highlighted lines? I'm using Faber-Castell Lotus Colour pencils (set of 36).
Hi Unmask Art. I just discovered your videos. Have watched 2, this and the 7 ways to blend colour pencils. I love the quality of your videos and the information you share. You even showed with an example of the capsicum. Thank you for your efforts.
Great advice 🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔 Maybe it's the paper choice I've been making wrong when I've decided to color in some of my art work with Prisma colored pencils. I'll have to try on better paper🤓 And for sure color pencils are way cheaper than me using my Copic Sketch Markers 💰💰💰💰💰
Will, thank you for this video. This is so well done and just love how you executed this tutorial. Very slick and so professional. More of these pretty please. Huge thumbs up.👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍❤
I'm fairly new to your channel albeit I have watched every single one. I'm an x oil painter, landscape and wildlife. The new mediums for me are Pastels and Colored Pencil. Your teaching method is very concise and clear (rare combination even on your live videos you don't miss a lick.) I'm an old dog that has decided to pick my art back up and watching your videos has helped me get back on track. Truly appreciate you sharing your knowledge and talent. As a side note: I was tickled at the process you went through to visit Anna and the horrific trouble you also went through. Son, you have the patience of a saint...LOL. More than I would have had. Good luck to your marriage, Anna seems like a very nice girl and am happy for you both. :)
Thank you so much for taking your time to give us your knowledge with your experience using colored pencils . I am a beginner I’ve been into trying to learn on my own by watching tutorials and reading blogs for 8 months now I’m still a colorist ( I’m building confidence each day to take it to the next step of drawing ) I can see improvements in my work compared to my start out although I have a long way to go I hope to someday be really good at drawing realism as I see it , my fiancé has confidence that I will someday but we shall find out . I really found your information very helpful I actually took my first written notes while watching this video I’m looking forward to seeing more of your videos and learning from your valuable experiences and information . Thank you once again for such valuable information and for having the desire to share with those of us that are looking to improve like so , such as myself , and thank you for giving me more confidence that I can accomplish my goals . Please Keep up the greatness within your valuable teaching skills that is clearly easily understood along with your amazing beautiful art for the outcome of your knowledge and your time will make you very special and so greatly appreciated in many countless ways by us future artists
I wanted to ask a question… can you make money of that little drawing ✍️ of the bell pepper 🫑? Or you just do it for the fun of it? Do you sell every artwork or just the big canvasas?
Lol . I started off with 12 colour pencils too! But then I slowly upgraded to larget sets. I now have a 48 colourpencil set . It's not even like high quality . Just student grade . My tip is to save up money. And after a year or so you will be able to get a better set probably . Or you can get 1 pencil by 1 pencil . So like prismacolor sells singular pencils . Get those and slowly grow your collection .
Thank you so much this helped me so much turns out that I was making a lot of mistakes no wonder there was always sth wrong with my drawings Is there a video where teaches which colors go best with each other I have a problem with that too
i always love to draw potraits using colored pencil. but the more i draw them the more i can see how weak i am at shading so i am very thankful to watch this! so helpful and inspiring 💜💜
I noticed that your white pencil is shorter than rest. As a kid I didn't realise the use of white but as I progressed with art, I always end up buying more extra whites whether it is oil, acrylics or pencils.
I managed to get that fabriano paper you recommended but got the cold pressed, not hot. Do you know if it will work? I'm struggling a bit so I don't know if it's the paper, pens (walnut hollow) or me.
Thank you, yeah tracing makes a lot of drama but gosh, if you want to improve your coloring skills, tracing is just a way to ficus more on these skills!
Oh my gosh. The sharpness of your colored pencils brought me back to a horrific memory from first grade. A classmate sharpened a pencil for me and she was so proud of how sharp she got it. I went to grab the pencil but my hand accidentally bumped hers, and the pencil poked her in the eye!!! I was so scared! I felt like poop for a whole week man. I never wanted to have to sharpen another pencil again. Luckily, she was okay! I thought I had blinded her. 🥺
Peace everyone, let me know what you think of this tutorial and tell me what you want to learn next. Hope you enjoy it and don't forget to share it. ✌

You're voice is very calm and clear, almost like the Bob Ross of colored pencils! I'm excited to try out these new techniques in the future. :)
I was thinking the same thing!
Bob Ross with dreadlocks
I know its out of subject but wats the sauce of ur picture?
Right! Lol...He kinda helped me with his info, but he didn't really show any techniques! Bob Ross would have definitely went into more detail!

Hi teacher, for Luminance, polychromos and prismacolor is better smooth paper or rough paper ?
Paper is a personal preference. I like smooth paper the best. But I know many people that like coarser watercolor paper.
Oh my gosh. The sharpness of your colored pencils brought me back to a horrific memory from first grade. A classmate sharpened a pencil for me and she was so proud of how sharp she got it.
