I'd do amsoil my self. Very nice budget build there bud. I miss my old second gen dually cummins. 508,000 km on it and engine had zero blow by. Hope the wife is still doing ok. Tell her we wish her well 😊
I have run 5w-40 in my 03 H.O. Cummins for the last 200K miles with zero issues. Pickup currently has 300K and uses no oil. I also run it in both of my 6.7 Fords and on those Ford recommends 10w-30 for normal conditions or 5w-40 for severe conditions. Keep up the good work and I enjoy your videos.
Me and my wife have a love hate relationship with those baby gates. They are a necessary tool for keeping the little ones out of danger though. I pray her foot makes a speedy recovery, broken bones are no joke.
For best oil production I use fleet guard lf 16035 stratus pore fluted oil filter. It filters out the really small particulars and it is a Cummins subsidiary of Cummins witch is is called Cummins filtration. I used the filter on my 1989 12 valve 03 Cummins and my 2021 3500 6.7 Cummins.
We need to run 5w 20 in stuff here in Canada with the - 40 temps in the winter Then keep spare batteries and starter motors on hand if they last that long before they rust out
I think the part number difference is for synthetic and nons synthetic oil but I could be wrong. I’ve noticed that part number difference to God love Cummins same oil filter from first GEN to fifth GENs
You can always look at owners manual. It will list everything you need to know about the oil. Also, if you’re running the full synthetic more than likely wouldn’t have hurt as long as it Mitch, the additive package requirements. I hope she is ok.
Nothin wrong with a Gasser as long as you are not towing heavy. And you have enough trucks for that. Great for payload, gas is cheaper than diesel, oil changes are a lot cheaper, no replacing fuel filters all the time, don't have to plug them in to get heat out of the heater in cold climate in a timely manner (I know the new ones dont need it). Using that truck for a snow plow is a great idea. Pushing a snow plow with a truck is very hard on the front end and drive train. Better to beat up that ole gasser than tear up a truck with a cummins. It would be cool if it had the V10 but that old Magnum will get the job done.
Hey Sam, I hope Tayler gets well soon. You might want to put a door on the storage room to cut down the shop dust. Then you only have to clean the door. That silver truck looks good. I liked the Canadian content with the Petro Canada oil.
I have owned 3 generations of ram trucks and have to say miss the 98 sound compared to the 2024. They sound like trucks back then now its just there. Almost to quiet.
I’ve got to check what oil I bought for my 16, and check the manual for what it calls for. I always run Valvoline oil. I bought full synthetic for my he 16 but run Dino oil in the 03 and the 93 first gen. Sorry to hear about your wife. Saying a prayer for a fast recovery for her
We have the new 6.7 powerstrokes and we always run 5w40 have for the last 10 years in 2 pickups we pull with on the farm but they also say you can use 10w30
It’s about 115-125 dollar price tag, but the hot shot’s secret green diamond fleet oil is a really good choice being that it has FR3 infused. That and their EDT fuel additive help out the trucks for better efficiency.
I was doing 5000 mile changes and when the Fuel Injector had to be replaced there was sludge on the top end. So I now do 3000 mile changes. Of course I have more miles towing than you have total. I use the synthetic blends. I do not trust the full synthetics. Since I am always where it is warm going south to north and north to south, I use 15W40. I use Mopar or Cummins filters.
That row of diamond 💎 c trailers looks really professional.. my dealer gives me a free oil changes every 3 months. My dealer told me said the old school oil 15 w40 delo 400 was hard on drain back and on egr and soot filters.
The only difference in between those filters is that the 7620 has a grip on the bottom compared to the 1607. That is it. Ran both filters on my truck and noticed zero difference in oil pressure or anything really
In my 2004.5 the first common rail cummins. I used mobil 1 0-40 with the mobil 1 filter oil change every 12k sold it with 275k miles never had an issue.
Servicing your vehicles doing preventative maintenance. Is a way to keep things internal happy. Now parts are going to break high use high mileage, it’s going to happen but piece of mind knowing you did your part. A 106 dollar oil change is better than a new engine
Hey at least you admitted the mistake, probably saving somebody else from making it. Hearing of several dealerships still using 15-40, and have had to warranty a few engines.
You had me second guessing myself on the oil weight. Here in Arizona we went from overnight lows in the high 20s to a high in the 70s within a week. So I will stick to the 15w40 lol.
What machine do you recommend someone to start there business with I want to do stuff like root removal, demolition, bush clearing, mulching want to spend under 45k
Ever just toss your used oil in the fuel tank? I had a buddy who always did, I have, never had a problem. Common rail and 24v. Also I'd rather have thicker oil, like new gassers that run 0w-30 its all for MPG. I don't know how much I trust folks who build shit to break.
I do Costco 15W-40 kirkland brand i did it in my 2015 ram 3500 n 5500 and now i put it in my 12V and runs the same . but i do oil change every 10k do to going on highway all day everyday some traffic but not much . my work is hot shot tow car state to state
I can’t figure out why they did that i always dished on ford because of the oil they ran. Every diesel truck should run on 15w40 every farm construction site mining site stocks it now you got to get specialty grades of oil makes no sense.
I run schaeffer's 5w40 in my 22 and I change ever 5k also because it's lucky to get 4k on it in a year so I don't see the problem with changing evey 5k
Wow surprised by all the crazy comments about a simple oil change. Run what the oil cap tells you or what the manuel says. I run 5w40 T6 all year in my Duramax but I live in MN. Never a problem and helps mpg. Yes you always prefill your filters when you have a turbo to prevent dry run. It won't hurt anything it's new clean oil. Its not like you haven't been doing your own maintenance for years i think you got it under control😂.
The 6.7's dont show you real oil pressure.. Its just a calculation based off of coolant temperature and RPM... You could put ATF in the crankcase and it would show you 50 PSI when you start it... Look it up.. The ECU is making up a number and showing it to you so you can feel good about monitoring your gauges.. Aint that a bitch.
Dont put any stock in the factory oil gauge, especially in the 5.9 trucks. Dont believe me? Go ahead and unplug your sending unit and start your truck, itll read at 40ish psi for i believe 30 seconds before it drops to zero. The computer is lying to you! Most 5.9s only read 10-20psi on a mechanical gauge when hot, which is perfectly normal.
I like to hook my mechanical gauge up occasionally just to keep an eye on it, high idle reads 50 psi, that’s an 07 5.9 I believe the factory gauge has to read less then 5 psi before it lets you know there’s an issue. Definitely seems like it should have been designed a little different.
Yeah new power stroke uses 10w30 to from what I hear idk I quit diesel game like 12 years ago no more was use to buying diesel that was cheaper than gasoline it’s rip off now
I have had good luck with the OEM non greasable ones as well. NEVER use any aftermarket. They NEVER last even with the zeros. Different quality of metal!😢
Reason number 5000, why I like your videos. You aren't afraid to say you made a mistake. I hope your wife's foot is okay.
I'd do amsoil my self. Very nice budget build there bud. I miss my old second gen dually cummins. 508,000 km on it and engine had zero blow by. Hope the wife is still doing ok. Tell her we wish her well 😊
Have really been enjoying the truck content! Love seeing you keep these old second gens alive.

Fleetguard oil filter
We need to run 5w 20 in stuff here in Canada with the - 40 temps in the winter Then keep spare batteries and starter motors on hand if they last that long before they rust out
I’ve always used 15- 40 Amsoil and have it tested at every oil change and looking for fuel in oil .
Feel better soon.
I think the part number difference is for synthetic and nons synthetic oil but I could be wrong. I’ve noticed that part number difference to God love Cummins same oil filter from first GEN to fifth GENs

100% with you there on 5k oil changes I don’t care what the book says
It’s about 115-125 dollar price tag, but the hot shot’s secret green diamond fleet oil is a really good choice being that it has FR3 infused. That and their EDT fuel additive help out the trucks for better efficiency.

Love those old Fords
I was going to say something about the oil, but was thinking damn that guy knows way more than me. Maybe I am wrong 😂
i wonder if u do a small outer lip on the outside of your tool boxes on the new 5500 that way the water runs off around the box following the lip
That row of diamond 💎 c trailers looks really professional.. my dealer gives me a free oil changes every 3 months. My dealer told me said the old school oil 15 w40 delo 400 was hard on drain back and on egr and soot filters.

That's no stranger that's a Ford RANGER. After the swept line and charger. Think a guy would swap a small diesel into that unit.
Hmm, I've been sick myself. I'm not mentioning oil or trucks. Hope Taylor is feeling better!! 8) --gary
wix makes Napa filters the platinum has better flow rate for syn oil. I get wix or napa which ever is on sale the Golds are as well
You had me second guessing myself on the oil weight. Here in Arizona we went from overnight lows in the high 20s to a high in the 70s within a week. So I will stick to the 15w40 lol.
I feel like it’s all a bunch of bs I like 15 40 lol
You should do a video on how to fix the cruise control on a 2nd gen
I used to buy filters from fleet filter.
Heck yeah hero 👍🇺🇸
Hey, hope Taylor's foot heels fast ! !
I always abide by the owners manual specs. The high paid engineers put the specs/tolerances/viscosities for a reason.
I pre fill my oil filter on my 12v I use T6 .. Broken foot sucks , what's that cost in the US ..
From my understanding all napa filters are Wix made filters and they parallel the wix levels.
I think Napa gold is same thing as wix just repackaged as Napa
I use 15-40 don’t know was 10-30 that’s crazy idk I put ol delo in mine
Let’s see that new tool box on the back of the ‘22 5500!!
Every 5,000 miles on oil changes 15-40 rotella full synthetic in a 16 ram 3500 ho Cummins 125,000 miles no issues
Sweet I like to hear that. Nicely done
What machine do you recommend someone to start there business with I want to do stuff like root removal, demolition, bush clearing, mulching want to spend under 45k
That air bag comment at the end was hilarious Sam lol btw I liked the video and always have liked all your videos throughout all the years.
I liked your video… as always… but my question is what’s up with the ranger? lol
Not mine. lol. Storing it

Hey just a heads up the gauge on the dash for oil psi is generated not an actual live psi reading
Yeah that’s what ppl keep telling me lol seems weird
@@VBELTandSON i was disappointed were going backwards
Wix makes napa gold filter's only difference is one digit in the part number that's it
Yup she knows how to get you to do more housework. My exwife has brittle bones so been there several times.
I can’t figure out why they did that i always dished on ford because of the oil they ran. Every diesel truck should run on 15w40 every farm construction site mining site stocks it now you got to get specialty grades of oil makes no sense.
What is used to mount your spare to the flatbed headache rack?

i wanna be able to two all year round without sny issues i want the best reliable truck for that
whats the besst cummins for towing snd working
Wow surprised by all the crazy comments about a simple oil change. Run what the oil cap tells you or what the manuel says. I run 5w40 T6 all year in my Duramax but I live in MN. That's a really good looking 3500 you got there. What wheel/tire setup are you running?
Hey is there a reason ehy you sonr use delo
The 1607 is for 89 5to 02. The 7620 is for 03 to 24.
How much for the dodge truck green extended cab 360 gaser I'm interested in it
I think you need to Cummins swap the old Ford crew cab.
Both of them
all this and she has a broken foot? Damn I hope it goes ok
as far as pre filling the oil filter i would rather risk contamination then have a dry start

Look it up.. The ECU is making up a number and showing it to you so you can feel good about monitoring your gauges.. Aint that a bitch.
The 5.9s same way. At least on the common rails. Not sure about the old 12 valves or earlier 24s though
I’d like some new hats FYI
It will do the same thing .
Dont put any stock in the factory oil gauge, especially in the 5.9 trucks. Dont believe me? Oil is cheap compared to an engine and lost time do to being broke down
Exactly right
Yeah new power stroke uses 10w30 to from what I hear idk I quit diesel game like 12 years ago no more was use to buying diesel that was cheaper than gasoline it’s rip off now
Like theo says” fu*k em that’s why
If your falling for that shit go to dealer and buy your oil !
Ya don’t do that
Second
First
Third
Fourth
Sam! I see a mistake, NEVER use aftermarket U-Joints unless YOU know the quality is better than OEM. Spicer is what you should be using..
Spicer didn’t have the grease zerks tho:/
Ok, but a little more research and I think you will find them. I too had to look around but was able to get them for my 3500.
There is a HUGE difference in quality on U-Joints. BELIEVE me, I learned the hard way.. 😒
@@wesscarey4475 I didn’t buy cheap ones tho so idk.
I have had good luck with the OEM non greasable ones as well. NEVER use any aftermarket. They NEVER last even with the zeros. Different quality of metal!😢
Oh boy I had my Fair share of run on with the ole baby gates also 🫣. 🙏🙏🙏 That Taylor get well and no major surgeries needed
