This video is different from my normal product testing videos, it has more raw footage FYI. I had a sluggish bathroom sink drain and decided to clean the p-trap to help clear the drain! This is the first time doing this and I was learning as I went along.

I love the real commentary how nasty our drains really are, it is disgusting but it has to be done. Thank you for sharing this video with us.

Thank you! I wasn't sure how viewers would respond since it is different from my usual videos. I just wanted to show that we all are learning how to do things and even the drains need to be cleaned!!! Thank you for watching!

Ok, I know I’m weird but got excited you had a video about cleaning p-traps. I love DIY videos about clearing sluggish drains and toilets. It’s a nasty job, but it comes with a sense of satisfaction when it works, and you know you did it yourself. Hooray for you!

I am glad you enjoyed this! I wasn't sure how my viewers would react to a more DIY Vlog style versus my product testing videos. It did feel good to complete the job and I did choose to include my moments of defeat to show exactly how it went!! Thanks for watching!

Thank you so much for the DIY videos, I love them! They really help me to figure out how to do these things myself. Please do more of them. Would love to know how to "clean the coils" on my fridge, clean out the inside of a furnace (if you use a forced air furnace), and how to flush a water heater! These are really helpful videos!!

@@FieldOfFocus Thank you so much for your reply and for your kind words! Personally, my wife and I both watched this and well, most of your other videos, and we really both love the DIY videos a LOT. We also love the bacteria videos as we are both in a medical field (she's in physical medicine and I'm in psychology), and the cleaning product testing. We also appreciated the video you took while waiting for your son in your vehicle answering viewer questions as I was curious as to your scientific background as well, and wow, have you got some amazing credentials and FANTASTIC experiences! Keep up the great work!!

Way to go!!! 👏🏻Great job of you with your son’s guidance for tackling the drain! That took a lot of courage.
Maybe use a sharpie marker to point which direction to open and close that tricky side. To keep my drains clean I use lots of hot water like from a tea kettle, then pour down baking soda, followed by vinegar which and will foam up. Also the hot water trick can be followed by Dawn instead, wash and repeat.
Good idea for future is to pick up some speciality brushes that are long and bendy, even bottle brush’s will help.

I’m curious if you can test a couple of things:
    • How dirty bathroom towels, hand towels, or face wash cloths get if used for multiple days
    • If a dishwasher is enough to clean and sanitize baby bottles instead of constantly hand washing and then boiling after feeding the baby

There are drain brushes that you can use in the future. It’s like a snake, but has a brush at the end of it. They’re for jobs just like this so that you don’t have to use the paper towels.
I don’t blame you for wanting your hubby to do it from now on though. You poor thing! The number of times you said “Gross!”😂😂😂
