As a Celtics fan, I do think this series would’ve been different had Jimmy been available. I’m not saying the Heat win, but it wouldn’t have been four blowouts. It’s hard to really judge the Heat based off of this series.
@@Alx1116Most Celtics fans feel this way believe it or not. It’s almost like 4 playoff series in 5 years fosters a healthy respect for an opponent. Wild, I know.
Heat fan here, it feels like Herro doesn’t fit with the team and the Rozier-Duncan backcourt was consistently better, but on the other hand trading for a star is terrifying with how many teams have failed after doing just that. I think some move needs to be made either way tho
Them stars also don’t have a coach like Spoelstra that I’m confident can take a team with more then Jimmy and Bam on it and actually draft a big and let Bam play PF
I'm not a Heat fan, but I still believe that they should've traded him in 2022. His value was never higher than it was that year when he won 6th man of the year. And maybe this wasn't realistic, but going into the 2022/23 season was when the KD, Kyrie relationship broke down in Brooklyn my first thought was "Miami should send them a package". I think they could've at least put together a package that was comparable to what the Mavs put together for kyrie with Herro in it
Heat fan too and I love Herro, but the problem is I dont think Herro would be as good on another team and other teams know this. Heat are maxing out his abilities and most teams know they couldnt get the same from him because they dont have a coach like Spo or a team like Miami. So imagining a trade is hard without Miami losing more than theyd get back
@@roshango125ab yeah. 2022 offseason or the KD Kyrie sweepstakes were our best opportunities to flip him for a needle mover, since we know brooklyn was interested in him. Now idk if anyones giving up a truly good piece for a trade centered around herro.
I can say as someone who is closely following this draft Zach Edey to the Heat doesnt make much sense to me, especially at 15, this draft while weak has an abundance of good PGs that should be lottery picks and one of them is practically guaranteed to drop from the lottery, Topic imo is the only PG guaranteed to go top 15, not that he's the best but 14 teams arent going to risk missing the next great Nikola. That leaves Dillingham, Collier, Carrington, and maybe even McCain who all have nice playmaking skills, the Heat just can't pass up on that, they could easily grab the steal of the draft if the cards fall right, anyone in the middle of this draft could.
One thing that I don’t comprehend about Herro's game is how he hasn’t adapted the 30 ft three pointer like other young guards. On top of that, he gets abused on the defensive end. If he can just increase his viable range and improve his one-on-one defense (mostly bulking up) he can immediately become a CONSISTENT 24, 5, 5 player.
I remember first seeing you on sb nation and u were my favourite, and the joy on my face when i found your youtube was amazing❤ keep it up man love this channel
Wizards fan here. Ive been rooting for the Heat every year they’ve been in the playoffs, but I think they should keep Jimmy one more year then build around Bam. Plus they need to cut the bullshit if not caring during the regular season and make moves. The Celtics made moves to get better and the Heat really haven’t changed anything. Thinking they can run it back and make another run in this East is not gonna happen if they don’t make some big changes.
This was a great vid but I disagree on Joe Cronin being petty. It's wild to me how quick people forget """"Dame's agent"""" (it was Dame. It was always Dame his agent was just a mouthpiece) was threatening to not play for a team that wasn't Miami. Loyalty is a two way street. We appreciate the 10 years Dame and if you want out then you want out. But the franchise is called the Portland Trailblazers. Not the Portland Damian Lillard's. We went for a very similar package and defied the idea of a star player screwing over a tiny market team like Portland by saying he won't play for any team but his preferred destination. I know Heat fans have their panties all in a twist about it still but imagine if Jimmy demanded a trade and said he wouldnt accept anywhere other than the Lakers. With their absolute nothing assets. Imagine they offered you Tyler Herro, Nicola Jovic and 2 1sts for Jimmy. You'd probably not be so happy about that, I imagine.
That is exactly what happened and honestly it’s exactly why I thought they shudnt do much in the off-season set aside bam and Jimmy everyone now to me is pretty much tradeable. now what they can get is the real question in this market getting superstar players really isn’t the thing anymore
Idk much about Edey, but ik he’s a good paint presence. He’s not a monster offensively but the heat have good offensive options with the chance to improve in the offseason. If D Mitch gets picked up by them that’s huge offensive upside. Hartenstein would be a fire ass addition though.
The Heat will be alright. This was unfortunately a down year with injuries for them, mind you, 3 ECF/2 NBA Finals appearances in 4 years and they are easily a Top 3 seed when fully healthy.
Maybe I'm misremembering, but I'm pretty sure Tyler was never the sticking point in the Dame trade talks last off season. I think it was more Jovic+Jaquez+Picks that they were hesitant on.
I know this was only an off-handed comment in the video but I'm not sure I really buy into the Cronin pettiness thing. He inherited the GM job in an incredibly awful position after Olshey, the guy who actually wasted Dame's prime, was finally forced out due to the toxic workplace environment he cultivated. The team was really poorly constructed when he got it, and he kinda got stuck between a rock and a hard place. They took a shot at the wemby sweepstakes to try and save it and lost. Reports have it that he tried to shop the third pick around but obviously the offers for it were never going to net enough for what Dame wanted, that team was way too far off from contending for a title. Then he gets puts in a position where Dame's agent starts intentionally trying to tank his own trade value to force his way to Miami by both leaking it was the only destination he would accept, but also having his agent call up teams to try and convince them not to trade for him. Like I don't blame him for wanting to go where he wants to go, but the GM was put into a really weak position to actually negotiate and as much as people in Portland love Dame, he's got to consider the direction the team goes after moving him. Whether or not there was some level of pettiness involved in what he did is definitely possible, but the only sources I've ever heard for that are coming from people like LeBatard and given how he was talking about Portland's GM as though he were a servant of Satan himself I find those claims dubious.
The heat are like an nfl team with a mid qb. They are going to be too good to get a top draft pick and too bad to win a chip. *kOC voice* they need to blow it up.
There was some report that said that Pat Riley didn’t want to include Herro in the trade, but it came out like a week after Dame was traded to Milwaukee
Idk how accurate that report actually was though because no way Portland would’ve traded Dame there without Herro (not like the trade package was very good with or without him)
hes huge and seems like he has some solid basketball skills. now bare in mind I only watched 1 Purdue game last year, and it was the final vs UConn, but he looked dominant and tbh the rest of their players were well below him, he was the source of their entire offense and defense, and Purdue went like 34-5 last year so
