- I'm really sorry that I haven't been able to upload videos lately. My laptop and videocamera were stolen the second day in London, together with other important things. It's not being easy and I lost years of work and valuable memories or compositions, as well as a lot of money, I hope you understand.
This is just a short video recorded in my room here in London. This is the Jessica piano solo by Chuck Leavell, that my teacher Mike Drinkwater showed me :) Have a nice week everyone!

Tonight, James shouts at a lorry, Hammond eats pie, and I wear a hat.
This piano solo is an absolute BLAST to play and it's left my hands for the time being as I get rustier. It's awesome to see other people rocking it and having so much fun with it.

I've watched so many of your video's and they never get old at all. Keep going for that scholarship to college to make your knowledge expand even more. But I don't think they can ever change your skill on the piano. Keep going and never stop t'ill you reach your goal. Love from the USA!

The phrasing in this solo is benchmark..
An aspect of true musicality that is so sadly overlooked in so many cases where ultra technical trickery takes the front seat. Don't get me wrong, technical proficiency is very important and impressive in its own right, but when it comes to musicality - something you can always follow along with and enjoy when it gets stuck in your head - it's phrasing like this that creates those truly memorable experiences with musical masterworks.
@@ratfacedudeguy_ This is not necessarily a very difficult solo technically, but to get the phrasing down right and have it sound natural and musical takes some time. Great job on this one. Like Leavell's, the playing sounds like a musical conversation, not just notes being played.

What scale does this use??
A Maj Pentatonic mixed with Am pentatonic. I'm just beginning to learn it!
WillowFilmz Yeah, most of it is A major pentatonic, but there's a few chromatic riffs thrown in there, with a good number of little third "tickles" as I like to call them (where the minor third grace notes into the major third--here that's C going into C#) and then the climax of the solo with the rock-y chord triplets goes more into an A blues scale, which incorporates the sharp fourth/flat fifth, but still with a lot of major-minor interplay on the thirds. Very typical country bluesy stuff at that point. But the bulk of it is based around the A major pentatonic.
