Your probably not wrong , BUT what if the watch fall in a "deep sea " that is 300meters deep ?(oh :-) I realized now when it fall in a 300 meters deep sea you would not find anyway hahaha lol) your right.
The upper-left "analog" display is actually quite useful in that it continues to display your local time when you're using the stopwatch, timer, or viewing another time zone. Its intent is far from being just cosmetic.
Yea last week i found out that stopwatch stops when you dont have it on display. 😂😂so you actualy need that analog display to tell time when you are using stw. 😂
I’ve worn this watch every day for years, Nick’s review is spot-on. The plastic case wasn’t obvious from photos and the paint has worn right off all the exposed edges. The ‘glass’ has scratched, and the ridiculous thickness of the black plastic framing throws shadows over parts of the display. However, it’s packed with functionality, has the best Casio digits for clarity, and at the price if you thump it you don’t cry. Having said that, if they made one with an aluminium case, sapphire glass and a much thinner internal moulding I’d buy the watch again and pay a tenner more. Relegated my Citizen Blue Angels to the shelf, and that was ten times as much.
If you're a watch enthusiast you would understand why they're so expensive you can't compare them to a digital casio it's completely different that's like me comparing a smartwatch to a digital watch.
I have a Bulova Accutron II that gains 1 second during the months between daylight savings time and standard time but my watch cost about $300. A $30 watch that gains 1/10 of a second per day is a great deal. I'm tempted to buy one to wear when messing around. Great review, Nick.

I have to say, Casio makes the best inexpensive watches on the market, as far as I'm concerned. I've had this watch for 6 months now and since I got it it's become my de facto watch. Even the wife noticed I don't really wear all my other watches anymore, even much more expensive ones. She even asked why I wear this watch even when I'm home, is it an automatic? (Face-palm!) This watch isn't just a watch, it's a tool. I actually find the timer, stop watch, alarm and world time quite useful and the digits are fun to watch as they increment (I must be the only guy in the world who finds this fun). The world time is useful for knowing the time difference between your place and some other part of the world, like when someone went abroad and I didn't know the time difference and I used the watch to find out what time it is there because we needed to keep in touch. Once you know the time difference of course you can easily mentally add or subtract the time difference without using the watch. The crystal scratches really easily but nothing a bit of toothpaste and buffing it while I'm on the toilet in the morning can't fix. The only other thing I noticed is, contrary to what Nick said about this watch gaining a fraction of a second every day, mine loses a fraction of a second a day, and doing the math I think it'll lose about 10 seconds a month. No big deal. I can easily advance the watch a couple of seconds every week or so. And coming from automatics, can I really complain? 😁 Nick was right. This is a very nice watch at a very nice price.
I also do notice that the watch loses time. I drive a Zamboni and ice cuts are at set times so I am looking at the time often. I notice over a few months the time is off. Kind of disappointing but I like the look of this watch. It's my go to watch as well. I use the timer on it when flying quads as well so I dont cook the batteries.
@@YourLocalIceMan my watch losses about 8 seconds a month, so I just advance it about 5 seconds every now and then. It'll slowly lose time but at least it's not late. It's very easy to adjust anyway, and a bit fun. Lol

The 'analog-digital' display up in the left corner actually does give some functionality. It is always displaying the time in your 'home' time zone. So that when you move to another zone in the digital (main) display you can still see your 'home' time. I agree it should be more legible, but it does serve a purpose.
I only was trying to say that the little analog dial can be a bit difficult to read depending on available light and on how good your eyesight is. My watch has it; I do use it. Sorry if it seemed like I was being absolute about this all!
I have this watch myself. It's inexpensive, it tells you the time, it's reliable, and the battery will last up to ten years. That's all anybody needs from a watch, isn't it? When the battery dies, I will just go and buy another Casio watch, at a very sensible price. :)
I've had Casio watches since I was a kid, and I'm 53 now. This is arguably the best watch you can get for under 50 dollars. It's not just a great watch for the price; it's a great watch, period. So many functions, a stylish appearance, a 10 year battery, good water resistance, light and comfortable. One has to be a real nitpicker to find flaws in it. There are a few, to be sure, but quite minor. Which is extraordinary, given the price. Just consider all the far more expensive watches whose flaws are numerous and more serious.
Love this watch, been wearing mine forever and it's still my go-to watch even though it's at least 10 times cheaper than everything else in my collection.
I've been looking for a cheapo quartz watch for a while now, and this Casio's budget bond gadget aesthetic is really speaking to me. Opted for the black version with the plastic band (at half the cost!) instead of this one with the faux-steel case.
I just ordered this gem. For me, it is an absolute winner. Cheap, but highly functional. I own several Casio watches, G- shock too. But this is iconic! The only thing a hate about Casio, is the openings for the attached bracelet. Makes it very hard to replace, if necessary.
You crack me up! First time watcher and I’m subbed now. I agree a lot with you on this watch. Yes there is too much text, the face design isn’t used the best way possible, the plastic and “metal” parts sure are loud, it’s geeky, and it does feel cheap at times. Plus some girls may not have a flood down south when they see it. However, some lady’s might think your James Bond and she will have a octopussy to show you. I have to say this is one of those watches that’s so “nerdy” that it’s cool. This watch got me back into lcd watches. Since they are 15-30$, you’re able to mod them and get creative without worrying. With simple and super easy mods, all the problems you had are gone and it’s now my daily. Removing unwanted text, changing the leds and flipping the polarized film, swapping bands and some paint have truly changed it. Even the woman loves it now. People ask how much it was, and they are blown away when they find out it’s from Walmart and under 30$. Anyway, cheers👌
I found the small analog-digital display useful when I'm in different modes like the count-down timer and stopwatch mode I can still tell the current time.
I have one of these and I just love it. I think I paid $17 for mine. Probably the sharpest looking and actually dependable watch you'll find at that price. I often wear it when I'm in situations where my Tag Heuer is a little too precious for the situation and feel good when I'm sporting it.
I have been wearing this watch for over a year. Kind of my work watch. I pretty much agree with everything you said about it. The goods and the bads. I actually misplace it so I bought the rubber plastic one. I finally found the mental one then misplaced the plastic one. Just last week I found the plastic one again so I have two.
Turn the analog/digital clock in the upper left corner into a digital compass. Then use the small line box thingy next to it to graph barometric pressure and it would be amazing! I love the kitchy world map thing.
Been trying to hold off buying this watch for many months now because I just don't need another watch, but today I realized I really like this watch so I just ordered it online! Can't wait to get my hands on it!!
Taxi Rider I love it! The bracelet feels cheap and hollow but it looks shiny and nice. Works very well and it's very light. Just gotta take care of that paint job and the acrylic glass. My wife thinks it's very nice, contrary to what Nick's fiancee's opinion! :-)
I've had this watch for 5 months ..a great watch for the price . If Casio made the same watch in a metal case and scratch resistant glass I'd buy two more and willingly pay more
Just bought this on a trip at a Fred Meyer's for $27.99 on sale. I normally wear either automatic Seiko or Invicta watches, (and an Apple Watch) but I think this is my daily driver. It really looks great and includes useful features, particularly the world time.
Just want to point out that the watch your reviewing is one of a series of "re-issues" of classic 80's Casio face layouts. The one from the 80's was all black-rubber material, and IIRC did not have the world map in the upper right. Instead I believe it had the clock face on the left and a kind of circular chronometer on the upper right. It was out around the the same time as the TS-1200. It had had a very clear mode cycle: Clock, Alarm, Dual Time (the one without the map just used 3 letter codes for the time zones), Timer and SW. It was impossible to get confused. I have this watch you reviewed and it is a mess to navigate. I think part of the problem is the decision to eliminate the recessed "adjust" button, but I might be getting my wires crossed. The designers were more limited then in what the chips could handle in terms of dynamic input. Now its a free for all and as a result they don't bother to think about what is and isn't user friendly.
I wear one every day and i love it to death, keeps great time, the world time function's super nice, it looks pretty fantastic, and for $30 it's fantastic.
I just ordered the one with the rubber band about half the price and since I prefer plastic or silicon bands because they are quiet, easy to wipe down I am doubly happy.
I love it too just comes across as 80s tastic showing my age but still im a nerd i can love expencive and cheep watches its about fun for me and im sure there are others out there. Who agree and if your not one of those people then who cares as long as you enjoy your own personal watch then awesome
I loved the original back when it was new and I was a little kid. Seemed futuristic and amazing. No wonder I was immediately attracted to this video when seeing the thumbnail just now. I don't wear watches but I still kinda want one
I got the gold or bronze model for $20. I enjoy it very much. Such a fun watch. The metal bracelet and the two green case models are the only three I would get if I saw them in a retail store.
I’ve loved your knife reviews for years, just got into watches, and now I can listen too internet dad teach me all kinds of new lessons, thanks papa shabazz
A delightful review. Wistful, truthful and full of worldly wise watch wisdom. I rarely laugh while watching reviews, but this timeless review had me chuckling with ineluctable mirth. A classic gem! Thank you!
I'm 47 and LOVE casio watches - probably my age. I have a DB-e30 in stainless steel - it's such a great watch BUT it isn't for everyone. My brother bought me a (cheap) smart watch, but I never use it because you always have to charge it. Not the casio - solar - so no worries there, and it can't be hacked! Great review, terrible jokes, good work.
The moment you dropped the word Server logs ... my eyes lit up. I was looking for a watch which I can wear while taking a shower and also while working on a Server issue. Thanks for such a great review.
"The fake rivets are not exactly riveting to me" :-) :-) :-). Fully agree. PS: I recommend checking "Just one more watch" on how to modify this watch (If , like myself, you think there's way too much text on this watch)
I bought this model recently to get away from using my phone as a timepiece. Pretty busy person and I love the 5 alarm functions. Way less distracting to manage my days with a watch and and a notebook. It also gets plenty of compliments.
Also, please, do NOT wear your watch in the shower! Despite the 100M water resistance, a hot shower can produce steam and that can effect the seals of the watch. When heated, the seals expand and when cooled, they contract. That can mess with the WR of the watch. Also, soap has a bunch of abrasive chemicals in it and that can get into the case back and possibly cause the seal to be deteriorated.
Knife guy here starting to get into watches. This video was made 6 years ago and you refer to it as a $30 watch and I purchased it today for $32. You can't argue with that!
GOAT watch, cheap, good looking, multiple complications, 10 yr battery, very accurate and 100m water proof. No other watch, not even patek can tick all those boxes.
Especially for medication the alarms are awesome. My phone is either empty or missing in action half the day, so having this literally keeps me alive. lol
I bought one, just for the look. After a couple of weeks, I must say the accuracy leaves a lot to be desired in comparison to my edc 80 dollar Pulsar quartz...... .The Royale runs like 5 seconds slow after roughly a week. But ok, it's only 30 dollars.
I thought all the printing on the case and dial looked like a cheap billboard you see driving out of town. I saw a Jody video where he used "Goo-Gone" adhesive remover on a Q-tip to get rid of the excess print on the case and the plastic internal frame. I did the outside only not feeling confident enough to disassemble the internals. I think it looks a lot cleaner with the "Illuminator", and "World Time" prints gone from the case.
Geek chic! Priceless. And "I love very much" is a beautiful thing. You're rather more than somewhat great with language Nick. Like, comment, algorithm satisfied and Nick gets to eat and do it all again. Thanks.
Just picked one up on sale this weekend for £22GBP. The inner nerd in me couldn't resist. Loving it so far (if not a bit fiddly to operate). Considering SKXMod to take this piece to the next level. Great review 👍
The only thing you missed is that no matter what time zone the display shows, the analog style clock on the top left always shows your hometown time. So no it's not just a fashion accesory, it's useful ...for example if you change timezone by mistake
I bought this watch 4 years ago cause i needed a watch I can wear while working and i work as electrician and electronic. So the watch had to be made from plastic, light, comfortable to wear, digital, to have backlight and had to have some kind of more advanced batterry systen because I didn't want to change battery on it every 2 years. So I came across this watch and bought it. Used it arround. 2 years until I ripped the bracelett apart. I could swap it for another one but the watch was so abused and scratched from every day use and it is so cheap that i decided just to buy another one. I watch this watch every single day and I like it so much. So many features and technologie for less than a 40 Bucks. That is insane. I will have to purchase Casio 5610u because it is again what kind of technology that watch offers for 100 quids, but I will keep WH1200 for ever as possibly the best ever watch for so little money that man has ever made. I like your review and the fact that you took so much time to review sucha cheap watch, but this little felow deserves it!
So closed to buying it but to find out its casing is metal coloured plastic instead of steel (in this case, the world time A500WA-1 is a clear winner). I know it's a cheap watch but the imitation metal case really puts me off
I keep hoping they do an all stainless version like Casio did with their Gshocks. I would be all-in. That said, I own this watch and wear it more than most of my Swiss pieces.
I ordered this watch yesterday and waiting so was looking for such videos... This video undoubtedly was very informative but that's not what I really liked to watch this over and over..... His choice of words were really catchy, interesting and funny at times.... I certainly can't go at once with that deal of info making a video... you need to be really talented.... And yes for those who will read what I had to say i would like to advise them to put a scratch guard you can get from any mobile shop and tailor it....incase you have such kind of a product. 😉 I already have casio edifice but I just don't like wearing it daily for its a bit premium for me unless some for some special occasions so I get this for it. But I am concerned now that the colour on it isnt very durable after reading comments so have to be really careful.
Good review. I like the watch. More likely to get it now that you mention the fix for scratches on the clear plastic. My wife on the other hand does not like the way this one looks. To me it is a microcosm of why Casio is such a cool watch company.
I found the video so entertaining I bought the watch today, the bracelet isn't quite IWC but it's like going back to childhood and that's worth the 20 it cost.
Hermoso Casio uno de los más buscados por los coleccionistas aunque Casio hubiera invertido un poco más de calidad como un cristal en vez de plástico. Buen video 👍
Nick you are hilarious bro I was laughing throughout the Review. I will be buying the silver and black version for fun wear and to get a bit of nostalgic.
Got a lower end casio it's really small on my wrist but I love it when I use it for my clock. I cut a small setting gap in the very end of the band to pass a rubber band through I use 3 rubber bands and can wear the watch to bed. With the metal back on my forehead there's no way I'm sleeping through that. The sound resonates through your skull feels like the alarm is INSIDE your head. Make sure you turned off the bihourly beep it will wake you up. I'm a hard sleeper mom worked shift work when I was a child I would be moved in my sleep so much I never woke up. Freaking out waking up with the wall on the other side 😡.
Thank you so much for this! Part of the casing on my old Casio Remote Control Watch (the steel band one) broke over the weekend so it won't hold the band in place anymore, :( therefore I'm looking for a replacement budget watch that still looks "tech-y" and I think you've sold me. This is now in my Amazon cart!

I found the small analog-digital display useful when I'm in different modes like the count-down timer and stopwatch mode I can still tell the current time.
This is what you wear when traveling, so as to not attract too much attention to muggers...if you wander in the wrong neighborhood.
donedeal correct, your not going to get mugged for a casio watch
@@williamlane9844 and even if you do lose it it's easily replaceable
Wear the F-91W and they'll think you're detonating a bomb near them
I have one of these and I just love it. I think I paid $17 for mine. Probably the sharpest looking and actually dependable watch you'll find at that price. I often wear it when I'm in situations where my Tag Heuer is a little too precious for the situation and feel good when I'm sporting it.
god damn it Shabazz, stop wasting my money on amazon.
“It’s so geeky, that it is cool”. Thats why I bought this watch 🤓
Extremely detailed, just loved your video even after 4 years after the release of this video. Thank you so much, Sir. Much appreciated.
Been trying to hold off buying this watch for many months now because I just don't need another watch, but today I realized I really like this watch so I just ordered it online! Can't wait to get my hands on it!!
ronch550 How is it? I'm on the verge right now. I know it's a cheap watch but it still not sure.
Taxi Rider I love it! The bracelet feels cheap and hollow but it looks shiny and nice. Works very well and it's very light. Just gotta take care of that paint job and the acrylic glass. My wife thinks it's very nice, contrary to what Nick's fiancee's opinion! :-)
ronch550 Awesome! Thanks for replying so quickly
I've had this watch for 5 months ..a great watch for the price . If Casio made the same watch in a metal case and scratch resistant glass I'd buy two more and willingly pay more
Exactly
It would have been 5x times more expensive or even more if it had a metal case and glass ;)
@@caidee NO!
I have 3 of these. I wish there were a solid steel case, solid link bracelet, and mineral crystal version. I will pay. I'm looking at you, Casio.
me too CASIO
Well I love that look, and have just ordered one! Pays to be one of Nicks Shabitchezz
I'm tempted but thinking I should grow a suitably 1970s moustache before wearing it.
I wear one every day and i love it to death, keeps great time, the world time function's super nice, it looks pretty fantastic, and for $30 it's fantastic.
LOL...'shabitchezz'...lets start a facebook group!
Post global warming map 🗺
This guy is bloody hilarious 😂
Yeah I laughed out loud on that one.
I loved the original back when it was new and I was a little kid. Seemed futuristic and amazing. No wonder I was immediately attracted to this video when seeing the thumbnail just now.
I don't wear watches but I still kinda want one
Thank you for this review. My fiancee just got this watch for me for our wedding gift.
Near glimpse of the Nick in the watch clasp... So close yet so far haha. Great review!
I got the gold or bronze model for $20. I enjoy it very much. Such a fun watch. The metal bracelet and the two green case models are the only three I would get if I saw them in a retail store.
I just added that color one to my little collection as well and I’m wearing it now. Great choice.
For the record im a 7 1/4 inch wrist and i rock the f91w. Super comfortable so its a frequent “at the house” watch.
Just bought this watch and loving it!
There are case (solid metals) and dial frame mods for this watch that kick it up a notch too.
Beauty truly is in the eye of the beholder but I think this watch looks awesome in every single way 👍🏻👍🏻
Also, please, do NOT wear your watch in the shower!
Eago from Aladdin does great watch reviews😎
Knife guy here starting to get into watches. This video was made 6 years ago and you refer to it as a $30 watch and I purchased it today for $32. You can't argue with that!
DO NOT GET INTO WATCHES!
I know! I'm in deep.
It's amazing how great the Casio's are.
GOAT watch, cheap, good looking, multiple complications, 10 yr battery, very accurate and 100m water proof. No other watch, not even patek can tick all those boxes.
Literally wearing one right now with swapped LEDs, I love it so much.
I hit the 5 year mark with this watch in August. No problems with it so far.
I have a few variations of this watch but my favorite is this one but with the grey bezel. 🔥
yeah the grey bezel model looks pretty good
I thought all the printing on the case and dial looked like a cheap billboard you see driving out of town.
I got this watch for my 18th birthday. At first I thought it was metal and glass, but I still like it anyway, I love the geeky look of the watch.
Nice review adam Sandler
I'm 21 years old man and I love this watch so much.
This is gonna be my first serious watch, its a budget one but it suits my lifestyle and general look just great.
Geek chic!
These watches make me happy in a way quartz digitals shouldn't. Getting one the next time I hop time zones.
It's the nostalgia
@@abseiduk Yeahhhhhh
The only thing you missed is that no matter what time zone the display shows, the analog style clock on the top left always shows your hometown time. So no it's not just a fashion accesory, it's useful ...for example if you change timezone by mistake
Got the black plastic model on the way. Thanks Nick. Best regards.
Nick do a calculator watch review your fiancee will love that one too!
I used this watch while diving at 25m and while we were in the sahara walking, it's great!
I rewatch your review just for the comedy , it cheers me up . Thanks 😊
your watch reviews are excellent, love that NY accent
So closed to buying it but to find out its casing is metal coloured plastic instead of steel (in this case, the world time A500WA-1 is a clear winner). I know it's a cheap watch but the imitation metal case really puts me off
Its still a resin case but chrome plated. www.casio-intl.com/asia/en/wat/watch_detail/A500WA-1/
I keep hoping they do an all stainless version like Casio did with their Gshocks. I would be all-in. That said, I own this watch and wear it more than most of my Swiss pieces.
just got this beautiful baby today, fantastic for it price, have to love the world time switching.
I already have casio edifice but I just don't like wearing it daily for its a bit premium for me unless some for some special occasions so I get this for it.
I absolutely love your commentaries, Nick!
Hermoso Casio uno de los más buscados por los coleccionistas aunque Casio hubiera invertido un poco más de calidad como un cristal en vez de plástico. Buen video 👍
I saw one today. Great price. I must buy one.
Nick you are hilarious bro I was laughing throughout the Review. I will be buying the silver and black version for fun wear and to get a bit of nostalgic.
I enjoyed this review, I got this watch today, same day as I got a $500 Hamilton. I love it.
Nice review with a humorous twist which prevents boredom.
Just bought this watch. Love it! Have the rubber strap as well. Both are gorgeous in there own way
Got a lower end casio it's really small on my wrist but I love it when I use it for my clock.
When you show the watch map it's really cool it's functional.
"Forms of modern torture", love it. Nick, you have a great way with words sir. :)
Thank you so much for this! Part of the casing on my old Casio Remote Control Watch (the steel band one) broke over the weekend so it won't hold the band in place anymore, :( therefore I'm looking for a replacement budget watch that still looks "tech-y" and I think you've sold me. This is now in my Amazon cart!
this guys voice is awesome
한국영화애호가 Shurrup!!!
Yes. Hadn't seen your watch videos. And what a fun watch. I'm one of the few that knew the James Bond connection.
I own one and the rattle is the best part, beautiful watch. Yes Polywatch is great.
Hey Nick, what size is your wrist? It's a bit difficult to know how it fits your wrist without context.
Great video! I found myself saying “Badda bing, badda boom” several times throughout as you remind me of Goodfellas 😀
