ICE SORCERER / WIZARD Build Guide: Baldur's Gate 3

- One of my favorites, here is a ICE SORCERER / WIZARD dealing cold damage Build Guide in Baldur's Gate 3. This is pretty much a pure caster, so we can dish out a ton of damage with this, as well as have utility with things like globe of invulnerability, and elementals. The Wizard adds a lot of nice utility to this build, and it doesn't require us to do much other than take the intelligence circuit or put a few levels into intelligence. I really enjoy this build because of the damage output, but it's also really cool theming because ice sorcerers are definitely underrated. You can use the cold brim hat with this build as well but I opted for the int circlet.
This is a fun build, let me know if you have any requests for build guides!

I would just take 1 wizard at the end solely for learning/preparing Conjure Water Myrmidon, doesn't rely on high int so you can still dump, still get all your slots/levels, the Myrmidon is an extra body, can take hits, deal damage and especially it can wet targets for your storm sorcerer's cold/lightning spells.
Water Myrmidon can apply water in an area and the water elemental applies it with its attack! I love them for summons. Minor elemental ice mephits are nice to take for theming too. At the end I mentioned I couldn’t find my elemental scroll but it pairs so well!
What a coincidence! I am running the mirror of this build right now, 1 SOR / 11 WIZ, but the idea is the same, Frost Mage!! The reason why I went wizard instead of sorcerer is because I wanted those juicy abjuration wards up and running that have so much synergy with Armor of Agathys.
That’s so cool! Sorcerer giving the constitution saving throw proficiency and mage armor is nice too. Wizard is strong if you plan around it like this with the abjuration wards
@@JasonDunna exactly why level 1 is sorc, but also because you need it to get AoA spell! :D
I love ice mages! I'm glad it's actually a pretty viable strat in this game due to create water
Surfaces are so powerful in BG3, similar to DOS2! It’s my favorite build in the game
Been wanting to do a ice mage for a while this great inspiration
Perfect!! This one is the strongest version of it, and has access to utility from the wizard. If you don’t want wizard you can add a single level tempest cleric for heavy armor
@JasonDunna ill prob just get raphaels armour to not have to dip in cleric and be ok with good positioning and the shield spell untill then
@@HarryFernandes15 shield spell is underrated. A single level dip in barbarian with the constitution amulet also gives +6 to armor class so that can be really nice too!
Frickin rights hold monster is a game changer-I like to use it on cocky af Raphael in honour mode just to remind him he’s no god :D
Isn’t the newest class isn’t the newest class indicative of what stat your build is going to run on? So this build is going to be running off of INT aside from adding your charisma modifier to your cold spells later on because of the draconic bloodline, right? So wouldn’t it be pretty weak until then? So until then wouldn’t you want to use INT solely?
I love your Tav, is that face with mods or is that an already existing one? I'm going to slightly modify this build to be Sorc/Warlock, but still very helpful.
I don’t use any mods for cosmetics so everyone can recreate these builds!
Here’s a guide on how I make my Tavs

@@JasonDunna Great! And thanks for the guide.
If possible, could you make an eldritch archer build using the eldritch knight subclass? I would love to see that
Yoooo I love that idea. Leave it with me and I’ll get back to you!
did you know you can get 2 quasits named shovel?
This is really just a sorcerer build with a hint of wizard. Just a splash. Honestly, lore-wise allso feels like a sorcerer. Draconic bloodline and all definitely is an "innate" power, not learned. Wizar'ds really just there for the ability to learn spells, eh? I like Lightning dmg more than cold, though, so I don't normally do builds like this, but hey! Maybe i should give it a go.
I mean thats how a sorcerer/wizard build work you take the best of them two
Same goes to death knight build
You only want warlock for the charisma scaling weapon pact and extra attack(also high level spells but mainly that )then all the rest goes to paladin because aura of hate rocks.
Sorcerer 11 gets charisma chain lightning and then the wizard one provides a TON of utility between: globe of invulnerability, conjure elemental, conjure minor elemental, the deva summon and artistry of war! All of those don’t matter what your intelligence is but we have the circlet to prepare 4 wizard spells
If I went 6/6 it kinda makes the build weaker. I currently run this on one of my dark urges and it’s incredibly strong!
@@JasonDunna No, no, I like the build like this! If I may, I think in roleplaying terms, this character is one of those snooty types, "I don't need to learn magic I *am* magic!" but they were dared to so they took 1 Level of Wizard to prove to eveeryone that they *can* if they *wanted* to.
For the build though: I think it's a good build! I will try it out eventually, I'm just more of a lightning person myself, so draconic bloodline lightning is so so fun. But hey, maybe i just need to give cold sorcerers a chance and they'd surprise me!
Yeah I’m roleplaying terms it’s like “FINE I guess I’ll open a book and stop relying on my dragon ancestor” hahahah
Lighting is better, it’s my favourite build but cold is great too! Especially since items can stack up ice surface causing mages to lose concentration / martials to lose their turn. You can also apply vulnerability to bludgeoning, force and thunder damage so it pairs well with other builds!
@@JasonDunna I'll try it out some time! thanks for the guide! I hate doing the iron throne quest but It'll be worth it for Omelumm and the wave mother's dress
The build I'm trying with my weekend group is white dragon sorc 1, druid 1, and currently abjuration wiz 5. I'll be putting 10 into wizard by the end. The goal is to create water from druid before forcing attacks of opportunity on my AoA.
I like it! Armor of Agathys is really good on that build. 60 cold damage when upcast and with create water is crazy strong!
Doesn't taking 1 level of wizard at the end make your consumables use your intelligence instead of your charisma? Seems like a big downside.
@@HoboHunterr1001 you can scribe wizard spells, but if you start as wizard you lose the constitution saving throw proficiency. You’re gaining so much by adding a single level wizard between the conjure elementals and globe of invulnerability
You can also scribe the artistry of war scroll which is like a stronger magic missile, and the deva summon scroll
@@JasonDunna so you lose casting scrolls and such but it's worth it overall then. Thank you for the build, video, and kind, patient response.
@@HoboHunterr1001 you can still cast from scrolls you’ll just be using the 17 INT from the circlet instead of charisma! But the sorcerer grabs all the spells we want and they will be cast with charisma
@@JasonDunna to confirm, wizard spells you learn from scrolls still use charisma, right?
@@HoboHunterr1001 No. Intelligence.
Is your armor/clothes mod?
@@Scrimpyhook nope! It’s the Wavemother’s robe
@@Scrimpyhook I talk about the gear near the end of
@JasonDunna oh sorry I was watching the beginning and I had to go right near the beginning but I really liked the armor and wanted to ask before I left
All good!!
gear?
It’s covered in the video near the middle/end
