I don’t yet have the Hurricane, but that high-pitched sound at full RPM reminds me of a characteristic of their Chipmunk. It seemed as if the engine was revving way too high, and therefore the pitch of the sound was off. This “might” be the same.

@@kennethjameskerr Yep, thankfully Avangel is objective enough to point out sound problems on AH aircraft. Their modelling and texturing are exquisite, I don't understand why they are so sloppy on engine sounds!!?? To me, sound is the soul of the aircraft, if it is not true, the aircraft is a dud...

I was disappointed too. I find the flight model light and twitchy. Compare with the recent Bf109 (my current fav if I'm honest) that's a heavy feeling handful. I'm pretty sure the Hurricane wasn't as ultra-light feeling. Also ground handling is AWFUL. Freaking terrible. I've actually flown aircraft with castoring nose wheels (hello Grumman Tiger) - they were a bit of a handful with a waltz or two getting the initial endorsement but nothing like this. Also, I've flown plenty of tail draggers which needed the odd dab of brake to help them turn Tiger Moth (with added tailwheel and differential brakes for customer charter flights), Pitts and Decathlon - again, it wasn't an issue and it felt natural. You are spot on - and earned a sub from me. Keep up the great work,

The volume was pretty far up, any higher and you wouldn't hear me.
Flyby im sure is great, but not more important than interior in a sim where we fly.
My comments are my own, they're my personal opinion. I've seen Echo19's prior work and it's been generally excellent. This sounds odd in comparison.
      External is decent.
Internal; not enough bass, lacking around the 50/75 range with maybe a bit of 125. drop some 1k out of it and a little 4k.
Re EQing the interior would make it much more accurate to Merlins. The general range is there but its washed out by the higher end.

I think it looks rather good, and I hope AH patch what's necessary. One thing that alarmed me in the review - AvAngel, you say that the Hurricane takes off very quickly. I wonder - is this a return to the AH flight model of FSX/P3D days, where the fully laden , fully fueled SB2C Helldiver and C-46 Commando took off like startled sparrows ? The Chipmunk was the same, and with a few hours in the real aircraft, I know for definite that was wrong. I gave up on AH after that, but their DC-3 is decent enough, as is the Ford Trimotor ( except the prop hub animation ), so being a Hurricane fan, I hope they sort out the problems. They look to be minor and easily fixable.

@@Echo19Audio interesting I didn't think of it like that and I do understand there can be a huge difference in microphones, even down to what type of microphone you use for what you're recording. I've had a few songs recorded professionally and so I totally get what you're saying.
So what do you think is deadening the sound, because typically planes of that era Don't have any soundproofing or even sealing of the cockpit. Some even have big gaps like for instance the Wildcat and quarter inch gaps or so around where the cockpit closes in the back, I think the Hawker is around the same era early World War II.
It seems like a lot of the sound from the exterior would get in but I don't know anything about the cockpit or if it's completely sealed or what. Interesting points and now I'm ever more curious lol

@@Echo19Audio So do you record the sound and then leave a flat EQ as to not alter the sound that was captured? What kind of mics are you running?

    • @Echo19Audio
      @Echo19Audio 11 дней назад +1

@@Burstix No sir, we typically do altar the audio slightly in favor of depth. Everyone who has flown/been in a real Spit/Hurricane has agreed that the audio is actually realistic and authentic - it seems that everyone who doesn't enjoy the sound stems from this video. We recently adjusted some of the internal dynamics slightly, favoring more of the low-end rumble. Hopefully, this satisfies everyone's comments about how "thin" it sounds.
In any case; while there is not a lot of insulation in the older warbirds - neither is there in modern military aircraft. A giant plexiglass shield actually muffles the audio quite a bit, the "tinny" sound comes from all the metal resonating at higher frequencies, therefor making these older aircraft sound a lot thinner inside. The physical sense of being in the airplane is often lost when dealing with flight sims, so we try to over-exaggerate some frequencies to help compensate.
Some pilots refer to the Merlin as the most beautiful sounding engine - on the outside, while the inside sounds literally "like a box of nails" in comparison.

I though ohh, this looks good, nicely weather battered skin, detailed textures inside the cockpit etc etc. And lo and behold this is what you get from Aeroplane Heaven !. A seemingly low textured addon. At least low textured in some places. And why on earth do we have an aircraft with such a shiny skin as if it just popped out of the factory an hour ago. Meh, not so good textures. My take on this is that someone did some fancy pre-rendering for the advert photos. And the sounds, oh dear, not so realistic in my own opinion. Sounds like a Cessna !. You clearly seem to have an agenda with Aeroplane Heaven. You don't read the manuals otherwise you would start and run a Merlin correctly. In this video you left the start magneto ON instead of OFF, you started with the main tank not the reserve as you are supposed to. You ran the engine at max boost when it is not necessary, you forgot to prime, you ignored the differential steering clickspot to enable smooth handling on the ground. I could go on.
So how does this make it a fair review?
You are a texture artist I believe (?) so you probably have an axe to grind there. But do you really think we would release a pink aeroplane?

How that pink textureless aircraft missing its fallbacks is there I don't know... For reference, this is the package at Simmarket. That is as it came.
The texture comments I will hold to, I was polite and honest that was my opinion. Your other aircraft were better. (Also the metal weathering on the doped fabric section is a fair criticism) (Also No axe to grind, I haven't done it for flight sim in years)
I reviewed what I received from the store. I paid my own money, and I created my own content. I did not get this from you, nor have I asked for it. This is the post release version of it, not a prerelease I ought to liase on.

It is quite dispiriting to hear comments which may not be accurate and sweeping condemnations of products which are literally hours old. If people are dissatisified with our products, please use the help desk provided to record bugs and requests. We will always produce upgrades, fixes and updates. I'm an old bugger having done this stuff for nearly 25 year and in my book a review should be clear, concise, accurate and as much as possible unbiased. Yours I'm afraid are not.
I could probably have been a little less harsh in my response too. But then living in Australia so long, I'm used to giving as good as I get!

      The switch... fair, woops.
You also have to see that I, as a creator have a limited window in which to release content. I can't wait days for an email before posting a video. I always claim my reviews are "first looks" not comprehensive. It's first impressions.
I like a lot of your work, I really do, but if you listen to my tone in this video, im excited... and I then start to sound dejected because it's disapointing me.
This is objective, this is my honest take. You've made better aircraft... like the last one. That left the hangar in a far better state.

@@AvAngel Understood on content, I am an ex advertising Creative Director (30 years) . I can't agree re the package, there's a huge amount of passion and thought gone into it. But it is your opinion and I fought 43 world wars for your right to have it.
