A good guide on the Nav' side of the Tornado.
I will be revisiting later when I finally get to fly a sortie. I purchased 3 weeks ago, but real life and two young sons are using my valuable flying hours.
Hope you get to fly it soon!
Well that eats my lunch, my nav has never complemented me on my landings all i get is ouch and a lot of swearing. Nice video Steve you've pointed out some useful operations that I've been looking for.
New subscriber here 😁 Great videos on the Tonka! Bought it yesterday but haven’t flown it yet as I’ve been looking through the manual and watching a few YT videos. These have been superb as I’ve been concerned about navigating it. Have you done one on the autopilot/AFDS system?
I've been trying to find a tutorial to show how to tune the Freq's in. Thank you. 👌🏻
Fantastic, helpful and timely video. Many thanks! With your help, I have now achieved a couple of (relatively) successful ILS approaches in the Tornado. Great stuff!
Thank you, I'm glad it was some help.
good guide ,thks Steve ! possible to upload the flightplan to your google drive for download .... nice route in Austria to try , looking forward for more tips & tricks on the Tornado
Thanks! I've added a link to the flightplan into the video information. Enjoy your flights!
@@FlywithSteve thks! 👍
Great video!
How do you switch between front and rear positions?
Cheers,
Stéph.
Thanks! On the camera menu, you'll find a co-pilot camera option in the list of views. It's not strictly a co-pilot in the Tornado, but that one will take you to the rear position.
@@FlywithSteve thanks!
Will give it a try today... 👍
shouldn't your wing sweep be 67 degrees at low level and at that speed, also did you have any problems downloading MSFS,or did you get the 10 Disc box, apparently you have to download it in the uk???
I thought the Tornado’s License was expired?
Hello just want to start by saying thanks the helpful video and clear presentation.
Im just wondering if you could give me some advice on a problem I’m having,I’m very much a novice, I’ve managed to set up the tacans on the HSI but can’t get the glide slope to function, I have the HSI mode on approach1 and lakenheath tacan set so the green arrow which is correctly pointing towards lakenheath and the glide flag is present in the gauge but the glide slope bars remain fixed in the middle. Do I have to have the tacan mode on a specific setting? I’m playing on Xbox which may,I’m not sure, make it not function. Hopefully what I’ve said makes some sense.
Just for context the bar movement that occurs between 12:26 and 13:14 is what isn’t functioning for me.
Hi, just to check do you have the Lakenheath ILS frequency set to the Tacan equivalent, or the actual Lakenheath Tacan selected?
If you are using the Lakenheath Tacan (which I think is 039x, but I'm away from the computer today) you won't get the ILS glideslope.
@@FlywithSteve I have the tacan set manually on the cockpit dial. When you say ils frequency is that done is the tornado menu or can it be done in the cockpit?
In the meantime,I’ll have a look when I’m next on and see if I can figure out what I’m missing. Thanks the reply :)
Upon watching the video again I think I’ve figured out what I’m doing wrong, I’ll come back and confirm when I next attempt it
If you have the glide flag present I think it means it is not receiving the glide slope information. When it picks up the glide slope that flag disappears. For Lakenheath ILS you'll want to dial in 036X on the TACAN (either through the cockpit dial or the pop-out menu). I've just had a go at an ILS approach at Lakenheath, it isn't the easiest place to practise ILS approaches as the ILS seems to be offset from the runway heading.
@@FlywithSteveI’ve managed an ils approach to lakenheath and marham. Thanks for all ya help and for the video :) just practice now.
