    • @mcflyingfury
      @mcflyingfury 11 месяцев назад

      @@akumaking1 I was going to use Wookieepedia for my definitions, but Wookieepedia claimed a vehicle had to be manned in order to be considered a spacecraft. I realize the council made a decision, but given that it's a stupid ass decision, I've elected to ignore it and use the Wiktionary instead.
      The Wiktionary's definition of starfighter is "a fictional type of spacecraft that is intended to be used like a fighter plane in outer space". A fighter plane is then defined as "a military aircraft primarily designed to attack enemy aircraft". Therefore the definition of starfighter could also be stated as "a military spacecraft primarily designed to attack enemy spacecraft".
      Both the Basilisk War Droid and the Variable Geometry Self-Propelled Battle Droid are military vehicles that travel through space (spacecraft) primarily designed to attack enemy spacecraft (space fighter planes --> starfighters).
      I'm guessing you are getting hung up on the fact that the Basilisk doesn't have a pressurized cockpit for the pilot to sit *in*, rather a saddle to sit *on*. However, there were many starfighters designed throughout the eras that weren't pressurized, forcing pilots to wear pressure suits with their own life support systems in order to fly. The Basilisk is unique in that it doesn't have any sort of enclosed canopy, but once again the definition doesn't mention cockpits or canopies at all.
      You say it is more like a rideable mount than a starfighter as if the two terms are mutually exclusive. At the end of the day, a machine can be both. By definition, the Basilisk is just as much a starfighter as anything else, and the Mandalorians certainly seemed to think so based on their use of it.
      Edit: Also, while it wasn't designed for it, a true Chad could absolutely ride a Vulture Droid into battle as a mount

      They're probably under the false assumption that Fett and Boba aren't true madolorians. Which in nonsense. The only person that claimed that Fett ( and thusly boba) was not, was a corrupt senator of the mandolorian government. A government, might i add, that was actively trying to reform their culture from their warrior ways to being pacifists, of COURSE if someone showed up wearing mandolorian armor and doing shady things, they'd disown him. Regardless of the probably fact that they are technically one of their own.

I'd go read that because, though not confirmed yet, im pretty sure that they are the descendants of an ancient offshoot of the mandolorians that has yet to be explored. I like these kind of videos, but they also make me a bit uneasy about the way GF talks about fiction as if it was real, I mean the past tense on Wikipedia is because it is meant to be read in the future relative to the real thing it describes, Star Wars may fictinonally belong in a time "long ago", but the only sense in which it "exists" is right in this moment in our minds, right - so why not present tense? I wonder how much that kind of thing has been done in the past and if my impression that it is a fairly new thing is correct. And then, if correct, does it correlate with the present trend of facts being made to look like fiction and fiction being made to look like facts in news and politics...is this a generational thing? Is it a feature of fiction-fan-subculture or only a specific subset?

      Raphael Rae That doesn’t make any sense. On a basic sense any economic model lifts people out of poverty. The problem with capitalism is the disparity ingrained in the system. Sure people are pulled out of it but there’s still many who aren’t and that’s the basis of class based society. There will always be the haves and the haves not. That won’t change ever. As good as the economy gets those who benefit from it are on the top and everyone else is left to suffer the consequences when it doesn’t. Let me go you something else. About how it works right now. People don’t work for “integrity” reasons. Most work to survive. They work to paycheck to paycheck. Most of what we earn goes to rent. In a socialist society and this is proven I can provide details and links if you’d like about how productive the workers are when they’re basic needs like housing and healthcare are met. Even in a capitalist society a job like being a doctor which is seen as something with high integrity is mired by exploitative practices that include pushing patients on prescriptions and favoring treatments like c-sections and chemotherapy for higher payouts by insurance companies.
