Now that we have clean running water and a well completely powered by solar, we can do two of our favorite activities: not get poisoned by arsenic in ground water, and get in the hot tub! I know we've used it in the past, but now the water is drinkable, and we have enough power and water now to be able to use it inside the house to wash dishes, and outside the house to clean the tub! It may seem like these small day-to-day comforts we take for granted living in big cities is silly to celebrate, but nothing makes you appreciate the smaller things than scarcity when you go without it. Like DOORS! Today is all about doors, both literal and metaphorical. As we close the door to a long winter, we open our literal doors that we built ourselves! If absence makes the heart grow fonder, we couldn't be more fond after all the absence.
And speaking of absence, this week was bittersweet because we had to say a temporary goodbye to Bella and Izzy (nothing bad happened thankfully!!). Not to leave you on a cliffhanger, but we did find our luggage in this episode for a reason that we'll talk about soon. Any guesses?! Comment below!

Our Journey! How did we get here?
In the winter of 2019 we moved in to our self built van full time to begin living, working and travelling Canada. We quickly fell in love with chasing our dreams of adventuring off the beaten path, living off grid and being self sustaining. We drove our van thousands of miles through various countries-Canada, USA, Mexico & Guatemala. All of which we documented here on our channel, be sure to check that out! After many years on the open road we found ourselves 15 acres of remote woods on the East Coast of Canada where we are building a homestead and renovating our fully off the grid cabin. We are diving into this chapter of our lives in no experience, we're so happy we can bring you all along as we learn to do it all with our own two hands. My wife and I have been awaiting each episode for years. I've wanted to make this small point for a long time. We have recommended your channel as a 'fun' Sunday morning watch to a lot of our friends and acquaintances over the years. In our circles it's mostly older, retired people. I'm not sure if you realize it or not but your channel is much more than a travel and building stuff thing. As you are surely still aware, not everyone is comfortable or accepting of a same sex couple lifestyle. What we've noticed in some people is that they start watching two people doing their thing like you do, and the presentation just makes it so much fun to watch. People have thanked us for recommending your channel and have told us they have gotten to know you and just watch you and the content, and forget about the other stuff. In the end they find themselves getting to know you and suddenly see themselves as accepting of just who you are as people. It has altered their perceptions. So, in the end, you and other similar channels are making some people rethink their concepts. Influencers in wide ranging ways. Bravo ladies.

Bravo! Thank you for helping your friends understand that a "same sex lifestyle" is just living one's best life authentically with the person they love. I'm an older, retired lesbian, My wife and I have been together for 30 years. Over my lifetime, nothing has made as big of an impact on gaining acceptance in society than coming out on a personal level to family, friends and co-workers. Not every personal relationship you have survives the telling of your truth, but the ones who stay connected to you spread this acceptance to others. There is always backlash in the process, as we see clearly playing out now but, ultimately, love wins.
About someone telling you to stop 'yelling'... You're not yelling and you're allowed to raise your voice with your enthusiasm. It's contagious and charming. Don't correct yourself bc of someone else not loving your sparkle. Sparkle on, Lady!

Im a home improvement guy and I have not seen that door trick for painting both sides. I got these plastic angles that attached to doors for panels that allow you to flip a door over but your way would have saved me money.

One the best very easy ways to improve your proofing of bread / pizza dough is putting a pan of hot water in over to warm it up a little an put dough in there to proof. Making it a no cost proofing box. Not necessary in summer when house is really warm but I do it. Love watching your build..

When you make bread from scratch, it’s important that you knead the dough for at least 10-15 minutes to develop the gluten to make the dough really stretchy and if bread it gives it a much nicer crumb. Beautifully chewy and crunchy on the outside.
Homemade bread or pizza dough is one of life’s absolute best treats.

I've been watching ya'll for quite some time and I love you both. I'm 68 & straight, it saddens me that there are therapists that wouldn't accept you and or would make you feel uncomfortable or accepted. The more you advance the more we regress..... so, so sad.
I was just reading Craftsman on the lake's comment and I have to agree with him. I am a disabled person and I love watching y'all! I was raised a Christian went to Church school and I was against your lifestyle, But now that I am older and have learned God isn't who I was taught he is and I realized that I was so wrong about Gay and Lesbian relationships! Sharing everything with the person you love is the best thing, unfortunately I nearly lost mine in January. Although her life was saved her recovery is going to take a very long lime, the thought of loosing someone you've spent 40 years with is something I don't ever want to go through again. That's why it's important to enjoy each other and share every day, even on the days when your annoyed or fed up. Oh and love the trick with painting the doors, very good. 👍🤗
Many years ago my dad and me made a wood shed of sort way back in the guarden where it was out of sight, it was basically just a standing roof with enough place under it so we could have two rows of stacked and ready to use wood under it that was 5 meter long and about 150 cm high. The wood there was left alone for a couple of years aand it was wonderful to burn during the cold and -15 C outside. Then suddenly during a weekend we were away all that wood disapeared.
And how had they done it, to get it done they had to drive through a graveyard along a dirt road that went behind the graveyard, but you could get to it without driving across the graveyard. Then they had cut down most of the bushes and trees between our garden and where that road ended and took their time loading up a lot of our dried wood. To even know the wood was there, they had to have checked out our garden and the only way to do that would be to walk into our garden and behind the house to see the garden.
Sadly that wasn't the last time someone stole from us, nor the first time, but stealing all that dried wood always felt like it had been done by someone who knew much about the area and just were we kept that wood.
Maybe they tought we had forgotten it since we hadn't touched it over several years, but we was just waiting for it to get fully dried out due to the wind and air. That moment changed where I wanted to live, and now I live in an appartment so far of the beaten path that I can hear a car coming a long way off unless it's an electrical vehicle. And honestly the silent here is great.
No more do I need to lock and double check that everything that might have a value can't be accessed before heading to town to shop, now I could even leave my door standing wide open and nobody would even show up wondering why. I did that this summer due to it being too hot, but with how few people that can easily see where I live due to how the nature around me covers everything. Frankly if I wanted to I could step outside the door buck naked and not a soul would be able to see it. It's peaceful :D
So build a wood shed, but make sure the air can flow through it as that it's what will dry the wood best if you stack it right.

It looks like your refrigerator doors are hinged on the right side. That makes you go the “long way” around the doors. It’s a fairly simple process to reverse the hinging on your frig doors. You will appreciate the more direct access you will have after you do that. Meanwhile, enjoy your vacation.

Had to have a fire this afternoon. Upstate NY and well-insulated home but rain and clouds means no solar gain. Actually didn't mind the warmth of the fire because I know I soon won't have to drag logs for at least 5 months. Enjoy truck camping and have a great week!
The doors look great! The two of you are doing such a wonderful job on all the projects you have accomplished. I would say you are going to Mexico. I know the two of you love it there. If I were in Canada, I would watch Bella and Izzy for the two of you. I love animals so much. I have a Shih Tzu and he is spoiled rotten. Crystal and Jaz, have you ever ordered from Chewy? We order from them every month and they have everything you need for your furbabies. If you get something you don't like, you just call Chewy and they will tell you to donate whatever you got and send what you want. I love it! Our little Buster knows when the box is for him and he will sit up on his behind when we are opening the box. My profile pic is him when he was a puppy.

I bought the book "New World Sourdough" having never baked before and now my friends and family treat me like a master baker and beg for bread. Best pizza dough I've ever had.

She used a roller on it anyways so not sure why use a paint gun in the 1st place lol
My favorite pizza dough!
3/4 cup warm tap water,
1 tablepoon active dry yeast
1 1/2 tablespoons olive oil
1 teaspoon sugar
2 1/4 cups all purpose flour
1/2 teaspoon salt
I dont measure much so if its dry add equal parts water and oil little at a time you need to need it until smooth texture should be sticky but not actually stick to your hands. let rise for 20 - 30 minutes flatten let rise again for 10 minutes ish in pizza shape, brush oil on it when youre letting it rise for a second time. perfect crust every time

hi, 3 ideas for the bread. When making bread put the loaf it in a large pan away from drafts and put it on the very back of the stove so it's i surronded by warm air. Check the yeast is lively. Add 1 tablespoon of yeast in 1 cup lukewarm water and 2 teaspoons of sugar. Stir and leave for 20 minutes in a warm area. It should be bubbling and ready. If not ditch it for new, better yeast. Finally, patience. Wait for the bread to double as per the recipe and then proceed.

Hey pretty ladies, thank you for sharing all your tricks and home hacks. Heres one for you from me. Get some plant/bird feeder hangers. Pick your fav style( simple double hook or decortive) making sure its the free standing pole and until ground thaws you can temporarily drill hole into a log that will support the pole and bathrobes. Put close to hot, hook facing away from water (lol) stand and grab. no more laying robes on steps 😊 you can also hang lanterns speakers ect.

You girls are great, the first door looked great even without handles. Lol, the other doors had those large gaps until you covered them with the trim, now they are all looking good. whatever you are doing and wherever you are going I hope you both have an amazing time

Occasionally you ask something I know , at least a small amount. I always use bread flower and not all purpose flour . Thats the blue bag and not the red one from King Arthur flour. I think its best. I find that the addition of a small amount of sugar helps the yeast increase the co2 and gives me a nicer rise with greater voids in the loaf. (hence not as dense) Thanks for another Sunday morning video.

key is to make sure your yeast is allowed to activate first before making the bread. Also, put a cup of boiled water in the oven with your bread (with the oven OFF) to help it rise in cold weather.

Making dough is really hard in colder weather sometimes … so my suggestion would be to keep the kitchen or whatever room you’re proofing your dough in, warmer while you’re doing it. It might help anyway

This has to be one of my favorite episode's yet, the ending was fantastic. You both looking at each other in the hot tube with such love in your eyes for each other filled my heart. But most of all just being yourselves and all the literally making me laugh out loud added to the brightening of the day.
Cliffhangers? Jeez, you two really have me waiting on this each week like its a new TV episode of my favorite show

Had our snow storm here too lol. Beautiful day cleaning the yard got a sun burn. And then snow storm like 6in of ❄️😅 thanks Montana, not! Lol
pizza dough should be stretched, not smashed out with a roller. You don't have to spin it in the air, just take your hands and push the dough out into a nice circle. And, if you bake often, nothing beats keeping a sour dough starter

The cabin is really coming together. I love everything about it. What I love most is the smiles it brings to your faces. The motivation level is off the charts with U2.
Give this a try:
"Focacca Bread" Super easy! Makes great pizza dough. I use "Spend with Pennies's" recipe. I let it rise for 4+ hours.

My guess is you're going someplace warm, and you're two beautiful dogs are in great care! Good thing I'm not babysitting your home, I'd put my many years of handyman finish carpentry skills to good use and do some work while you're gone. Enjoy the vacation! Aloha!
If you can’t get the dough to spread right away, do a rough stretch, then walk away for 10 minutes or so to let the gluten relax, then come back to it and it should stretch out easily!!! Not sure if this was the issue but it helped me on my pizza making journey
