This gotta be the cleanest looking UI of all the EFIS on the market. Still have my reservations using an iPad for this though.

Thanks! iPads have a few potential gotchas, but we've built some pretty good solutions for those. The FlightDock cooling mount handles the heat issue. We're based in Austin, TX - known for hot summers - and I have yet to have an iPad stop working due to the heat. Touch screens can be challenging to use in the cockpit, but the FlightBar knobs / buttons add-on makes it much easier to use FlightView even in turbulent conditions.

Please tell me you're working on or have a IFR solution.

In fact, we've just heard from Steve Sokol. He says he'll be showing a bunch of updates at AirVenture this year, including an ARINC 429 adapter, which you'd need to display vertical and lateral nav data from an IFR GPS. We'll know more in a couple of weeks. We're planning an update video from the show.

@@KitplanesMagazine Hello, I saw your reply, as to the above message. I too, am interested in the IFR functionality feature. Typically, you would be required to have a NavCom radio or a unit like the Garmin 375 to gain IFR capability But, Falken indicates their system has a WAAS GPS capability, in their specs. This feature set, if not depending on an independent would meet the requirements of those regulations, correct? Thanks for any updates you can provide.

I fly with a basic 6 pack, and an Ipad mini (5th gen) with Foreflight. My problem with the ipad is the screen brightness. I often find that I can't see the screen very well, even on full bright. Does your system make the screen any brighter?

We're using the current iPad Air (4th generation) in our testbed aircraft (an RV-6A) and haven't had any problems with visibility. They're noticeably brighter than older iPads, though not quite as bright as the much more expensive displays in traditional fixed-function avionics. The latest 12.9" iPad Pro has a new backlight design that can apparently push 1200 nits. If you have the panel space, it's gorgeous. Hopefully Apple will bring that technology to the Air or even base model in the near future.
