@@jared-fitlab1773 Hi Jared. Yes I own a Talon 3. Light trailing the bike it is responsive and light even with all stock parts. I haven't tried a Marlin though so I was biased but I would love to try a Trek one day. Availabiliy is one thing, the 2021 Talon 3 came 6months after it was advertised.

@Vinoth David Hi, this is Jared from Fit Lab. The marlin & does appear to have better features than the polygon xtrada but the polygon is way cheaper and has some pretty decent features, Dave. This will come down to what your budget is and what is your preference is. We would recommend the trek marlin 7.

@@jared-fitlab1773 That's all I really needed to know. Thank you. I've been trying to decide between these bikes but I think my decision is the giant talon 3. Thanks
Because a 21 speed drivetrain is typicaly 14-28 freewheel and 28-38-48 chainrings in the front. So there are 21 different gear combinations but many of them bring the same power output and only 14 to 15 are unique gear ratios. In a 2x8 or 16 speed drivetrain there are less gears and still having a wide range, an 8 speed cassette vary from 12-34 to 11-46 with 22-36 chainrings depending on the bike. This setup gives you a lot of torque (way more torque than the 21 speed) and a fair speed (almost the same as 21 speed) The 2x8 is more concentrated in torque rather than speed, thats why it has such low gears to climb more easely than the 21 speed drivetrain. Thats why the 2x8 is much better in many aspects than the 21 speed, you carry less gears so less weight, less unnecesary or repeated gear ratios and that means less gears to think about.
