Back in the day.. 50 or so years ago, the 1955 and 1957 Chevy 150 or 210 were most desirable. Honestly, no one would touch a 1956 Chevy if they could get their hands on either of the other two, although powertrain swapping was equally the same (55,56,57) . Body style was ultimate when there was a selection. Guess everything that old has become more and more rare as time goes on. Back then, the next set of "desirables" were the 1961Chevy Impala 348ci with triples and 4 on the floor, following that model was the 1962 Impala SS 409ci. Today, the 2 speed Powerglide transmission from that era is still used on some racing applications.
I find it funny that no one asked any questions about the block, heads, compression, any dyno slips? Trans? What rear end gears? If I'd be forking out money like that for a supposed "new build", I'd want to see receipts? Come on man!
You would “assume” the they talked about that, even though they didn’t show it. I’d definitely want some paperwork. Big difference between a 396, and a punched out 468. I would “assume” it’s got a 2 speed power glide trans, with maybe 4.56’s, or 4.88’s in the rear? Information you DEFINITELY need before buying a race car.
Hey Rick. If you like custom hot rods talk to Earl Gaerte in Rochester, Indiana where I grew up at. He is the father of Joe Gaerte who races World of Outlaws wingsprint cars. I'm pretty sure he built the motor from ground up himself and it's been in many car shows.
Fr, other "experts" would've said it's worth $20k-$30k but Danny was right, it's a great car and has allot of money into it, it's only worth what someone would be willing to pay which is probably around $45k-$50k maybe more but I doubt it.
Y'all clueless lol, the car is certified by the NHRA to run an 8.5 sec quarter mile. 9 second cars usually reach 160 mph so yeah, this thing would reach 150 pretty easily.
From what little I know, based upon my knowledge of my toy cars when i was a kid, dragsters are basically just power ful engines with an artificial body shell. Meaning you can get any body shell that you can manufacture from the lightest materials, glass fiber etc. But this car actually looks like a real car!
As someone who grew up going to drag racing events my whole life not all drag cars have that type of body most do have them made out of fiberglass but those are also the most powerful engines at the event pushing 2-3000 hp maybe more since they don’t tell you. Most of the time especially if it’s not a NHRA event and an small event at a local drag strip most of the cars have steel or aluminum body’s with a big engine to run 9 second quarter miles at least. Right on. The 8.50 cert sticker means that the NHRA inspected the cage work, and gave it the OK. The rest of the car would need to be tech inspected, and be able to pass tech when brought to the track. The 8.50 cert sticker means nothing as to how fast the car really is.

Should have took it to an action he would have gotten way more then $37,000 let’s be real
8.50 E.T on a 1/4 mile! I don’t know if you guys know how fast that is, but that is absolutely cooking!
Dude, the CAGE was NHRA certified for speeds up to 8.50's. The car has never run a 1/4 mile.
That car won’t even go close to that. It’s just a iron headed big block. It’ll maybe do 10s. Don’t forget it’s still on leafs with air shocks and no traction bars. It’s going to 60ft terribly
@@junkyardboost8372 the guy said it runs 8.5
@@duster4386 don’t care what the guy said. He also said it’s never been ran. Cage is certified to 8.50 which any 10 point cage is. An iron headed big block with no power adders isn’t going 8s. That motor makes a maximum of 600-700hp. I’ve been around cars enough to know that car will be lucky to go mid low 10s. I made 750 TO THE TIRE and went 9.90 in a 3600 pound car. That car makes around 600 to the tire. I also had a 1.45 60ft which that car will never be capable off on air shocks and lowering blocks on stock leafs. Gunna have axle wrap and wheel hop problems.
@@junkyardboost8372 tbh huh at makes more sense to me. I didn’t think that thing ran 8’s until he said it. But I get that it doesn’t. But it probably does run low 10’s
