2nd Amendment gives us the right to bear arms; but that doesn't mean everyone can own a gun. We need regulation on who can bear arms in this country based on Not Only backgrounds checks, but also taking into account Domestic Violence & Mental Health issues. These people need help, not guns.

The American citizenry have been given the right to have/use guns to protect themselves against their Govt., and we can clearly see what has happened in other countries where the citizens laid down their guns... mass murder/oppression! I don't know about you, but the few people i know who do own guns, use them for HUNTING to supplement their food, for their families.
You know as well as I, that if criminals want guns, they get guns.... even out of a police-secured, custody locker. Now how does that happen?
When I was in school (rural) you had to provide evidence of a successfully completed hunter safety course in order to even get your first hunting license, so it's generally believed, MOST gun owners use their guns for HUNTING/target practice not with the intent to harm others. Besides, just how many of these mass shooters were "known" by police to be a threat. And, how many are on pharmaceuticals that alter the brain? And, how many have had direct contact with Govt agencies or mental health providers connected to said agencies?
Shall not infringe! Our founding father's had the foresight to see that there could be a time to take up arms. I pray, that America can diplomatically solve it's problems without the need to succumb to civil unrest.

I agree so much with you! I always think that! In Uvalde, Texas 39 people were shot! But we keep hearing that 21 were killed, but what about the 17 who could’ve been killed? They do this all the time and it really bothers me! The Christmas Parade killer in Waukesha deliberately mowed down 62 people! Six died, but dozens of innocent people suffered life-altering injuries and we never hear about them!

I live in Canada. To me it's a peaceful country. Yes we have our fair share of gun violence. As long as there are tools for murder, the tools will be used. That is just common sense. Still I don't think the police in Texas would have been so cowardly if that very troubled 18yrs was carrying less than AR 15 rifles. There is not one single reason for ANYONE outside of LAW ENFORCEMENT or ARMED FORCES to possess such a firearm. NONE! Too much is too much.

Well technically every police department has known since the late 1990's that you should immediately confront an active shooter asap with any force available. For some reason Uvalde police didn't do that.

What has changed? I use to go to school with guns on my gun rack in my truck...even had a gun class that required me to provide my own gun!
The difference is people can't vent/release their anger and frustrations anymore in ways we use to....now people just snap! So worried about bullying but don't let kids fight it out to release all that hostility like we did back in the day, now they come back with guns because they are angry with the bully, the teachers for not doing anything, other kids sitting there watching and letting it happen or joining in, and because if they retaliate to the abuser(s) in a physical way they will also be punished and held accountable. Not saying bullying is right, but most of us had to go through some type of it at some point in our lives, but now you cannot personally do anything about it. We now got entire generations of weak, entitled, soft, and thin skinned crybabies that get butt hurt over the slightest of things.
Then you got videos, social media, and news like this that gives these people that resort to deadly violence and give them their 15 minutes of fame, sounding board! Why the gunman in Buffalo live streamed his rampage with a go-pro. It isn't just about the violence, their is a message to their actions however demented and twisted we think it is but it's their reality.
Time for news outlets, social media, and other avenues of communication to take some of the responsibility and blame...stop giving these killers a platform to sound off by committing these horrible acts of violence!

We had both the Buffalo and Uvalde shooters identities within a coule hours, but I guess because this one was a black male that doesn't fit certian narratives they'll wait for the heat to die down on the story and then quietly release the name.
