Some may say Shohei didn't show up in the World Series. I would remind them that without Shohei the Dodgers _very well might not make it to the World Series._ I'm very happy for the Dodgers and their fans for this title, but most happy for Shohei, who finally has a team he can count on to come through when he's not 100%.
He was great in both series before. They lose to both those teams if he played like he did against Yankees. He absolutely got them there. Then Freddy said I got this kid!!
And even still he contributed this series. Got on base and scored from either a home run, base hit, or a sacrifice. And he had the rest of the team to step up. Something he had wanted as well. When with the Angels it was just him and Trout that really did anything and we saw the results. No playoffs and not titles.
@@bigjoeofthe707his foul ball got caught, but because the yankee fell out of play, runners got to advance, mookie gets intentionally walked since first base 8s now open, freeman gets the slam. Butterfly effect stuff, lol He also had great base running on hia double where a slight misplay allowed him to take off for third so that he could then score on a sac fly from mookie. I dont know how many other people run for third on that play.
I am 71 years old and have lived in So Cal as a Dodger fan my entire life. This season was incredibly special. Shohei Mania was huge this season and especially the 6 for 6 game against the Miami Marlins where he hit the 50/50 mark in home runs and stolen bases. He is a very special player, up there with the all-time greats. The World Series win was the capstone of this season. The Dodgers are a special organization that continuously strives for excellence. Also, as the Yankees painfully found out, is that you need to really cut down on your unforced errors or once you give the Dodgers the smallest opening they will crush you. Very much looking forward to the 2025 season, especially seeing Ohtani pitching again.
At 58, Long Beach native, I had no choice but to be a Dodger fan; my mom's high-school boyfriend was Ron Fairly. My next door neighbor on East 5th st. In Belmont Shore was Steve Sax's girlfriend in the early 1980's.
The scary thing is : This was mabe the best year for the league to get these Dodgers eliminated. Next year, IF Shohei is anywhere NEAR to his Cy Young contender form of pitching, these guys are gonna be BIG TROUBLE. They basically won a World Series with 1 or 2 Starting Pitchers. Next Year, if they stay healthy, they're gonna have 4 or 5 really good starters to compliment that bullpen.
Shohei carried the offense in the regular season. 54 homers says it all. His teammates carried him in the world series. Dodgers dont make it to the World Series without #17.
You got that 100% correct. Without Ohtani, the Dodgers don't make the playoffs. They win 89 games or 88, and have to play a tie breaker to get into the playoffs as a wildcard team. Also: Watch out for next year. 2025 , if they Dodgers stay healthy, they are gonna be BIG TROUBLE. Ohtani got Cy young votes 2 years ago. Glassnow might get some votes this year. Can you imagine replacing Jack Flaharity (ERA 5+) and Knack (ERA 6+) with Ohtani and Glassnow?
This Dodgers team is the next GREAT DYNASTY in sports. We didn't have 2 of our best pitchers in GLASNOW and MILLER. And with OHTANI pitching next season this team is going to be fuggin unstoppable
Without Ohtani, I see the Dodgers occupying third place in their division behind the Padres and the Diamondbacks. I’m not so sure if they would even make the wild card. And how quickly people forget (true Dodgers fans don’t) that if it weren’t for Ohtani the Dodgers would most likely have been swept 3-0 by the Padres just like last year in the Divisional Series. Even in the World Series Ohtani was the catalyst and the driving force behind that very important game 1 win. That hit by Ohtani was the main reason why Freeman even got the chance to hit that historic grand slam. Without that game 1 win this World Series would be a completely different World Series and it could go either way...most likely in the Yankees favor. Freeman may be the World Series MVP and deservedly so. There is zero doubt about that. He was on fire and completely unstoppable. I don’t know about all the other World Series stats but Freeman’s performance in this World Series has got to be easily in the top 3 if not the all time great, and as a Dodgers fan, I’m so happy. Even so and having said that, Ohtani is by far the most important reason why the Dodgers are even in the playoffs, made it through the playoffs, and win the World Series.
Cant wait to be at the parade tomorrow morning!!!! I’ve dreamed about this parade since I was a little kid , didn’t get it 2020 now finally after 25 years of waiting I will be at my first parade!!!!! So excited
I really missed hearing Charley Steiner on the radio broadcasts with Rick Monday this year, but Stephen Nelson did a great job filling in for him! Get well soon, Charley!
Game one of NLDS was the same story we have seen every year. Behind early, no life in the stadium… Sho’s game one HR in that NLDS absolutely changed the direction of that team. IMO that homerun screamed “This team is different than years passed” and that one swing led us to the WS. IMO
Padres were the best team the Dodgers faced. Mets 2nd. Yankees were 3rd. Im so glad the Dodgers won the WS to show the Padres how its done. Kept their composure, unlike SD.
What do you guys think of Freddie Freeman's absolute Beast mode in the world series? I've not seen anything like it since 2002 Barry Bonds hit 4 HR in the series, but he did that in 7 games. Freddie was driving in runs every game.
Lol ohtani's 3 run Homer vs Padres was one of the best calls. And they replaced it with something else. there's a drive, a bullet to right field. Was there any doubt? Shohei Ohtani....ARRIVES IN OCTOBER.
I was there at the game for that moment and missing this epic commentary was such a great surprise when I got to hear it! It really elevated it for everyone watching! Amazing!
@ that pumped me up so much and made me believe in this team again. I've been watching that call everyday since then. Probably the best call this postseason.
Congrats to my Boys In Blue!!!!, it may be irreverent but the looks of Soto after the lost ( my gut) feels like He’s a bit hateful…….a while back the Blue community wanted Him to join The Dodgers. My two cents.. No to Soto( His vibe)
This year's Dodgers won the team play. Everyone was active. It seems that Shohei will be a pitcher next year. It always makes me excited. And will Soto really come?
Jackie, nando, Kurt, Tommy would all be so proud as am I as a life long dodger fan. This was vindication of the Houston robbery that should have been awarded to LA, Covid from 2020, and still silencing all the doubters this season and smoking the Yankees in 5 games to win a very special world series title. Blue and White, fight fight fight. LA ALL DAY!
Rick Monday is a great color man, but the play by play guy, I cant stand him. He just sounds like a sound bite guy who was recorded days after the game. He does the Rams too, cant stand the way he sounds. Plus during the game his first word he says is always the wrong word. he'll say things like "The pitch, it's inside.......for a strike" When you're listening on the radio it really gives you the wrong idea. And this happens time and again

700 million dollars Ohtani and the Dodgers better be in the next 5 WS
Wow. The calls were all so great it brought me to tears the way they narrated the game at the end. Way to go announcers!
Shohei carries the team to the World Series, and the team carries Shohei to the world champion.

The Dodgers can win 5-6 championships with their current strength. If possible, don't recruit Soto. It will create discord among the players.
