Two comment on greasing equipment - have wiping rags at hand when greasing to wipe off the zerks before and after injecting grease. Makes the job much neater and avoids pushing dirt into the bearing/bushing with the grease. SAFETY NOTE - the grease gun can generate 5,000 psi. Keep your fingers away from the zerk when injecting grease - it can inject grease into your skin which is very painful and can result in the loss of a finger. A fitting like a Lock and Lube that mechanically attaches to the zerk increases safety and makes the job easier!

Guessing North Carolina doesn't have a Union for Heavy Equipment Operators, Lube Tech's, or Heavy Duty Repairmen/Mechanics. I say this because you have an "intern" and not an apprentice greasing your dozer. I looked up the wages for an excavator operator in North Carolina and it says the AVERAGE is about $22.50/hr.! That's absolutely insane, lol! I make $57.71/hr. (plus $5.96/hr. for vacation) as an excavator operator in the Union in California.
I'll be getting a $4.00/hr. raise each year, for the next three years. Overtime pay (1.5 times my hourly) for Saturday work, and double pay for Sunday/Holidays - regardless how many hours I worked M-F. I pay $234 every 3 months in Union dues (quarterly), plus $1.49/hr. in supplemental dues that comes out of my vacation pay.
Not to mention all of our benefits, which include medical, dental, vision and a pension. Plus, all kinds of special benefits through our Credit Union (like college fund plans, low interest loans, etc.), and special add-ons to our medical like chiro, alcohol/drug treatment, etc. None of this is added cost to me out of my wages, except my medical deductible ($250/yr.) and 10% co-pay when I go to the doctor/dentist/optometrist. We also get accidental life insurance at no cost.
Last thing I'll add is that, as a Heavy Equipment Operator in the Union, I'm not required to do laborer work or mechanical work. In fact, it's a violation of our contract, and the Laborers Union contract for a company to require me to do so. Although, I don't mind helping out the laborers or mechanics if I'm not busy.
