@@philhahn - I'm pretty sure "in british" (or any variety of English, really) that would be "didn't *use* to be". 😉 "Didn't used" is a very special grammatical form called the "overpast tensed", reserved for time travellers.
I'm so glad I started actually playing along with these. I used to just watch them because I dont have much skill in actually playing geoguesser but even with my terrible guesses its still so much more fun to play and watch rather than just watch.
6:04 "Pomnik" means statue in Polish - not sure why it's been labelled like that on Google Maps in the US, I assume a Polish person added it to the map!
I thought that Tom has his Google account set to Polish for some reason (and may not know about it 😂) but my Google is definitely set to English and it says Pomnik too. Weird…
Lol! Had to check it out as well! And it is pomnik for me too XD So I clicked on edit the location and at the top of popup window it said : "Place name in Polish (required)*"... haha right under that you can give it an english name as well. I added "Statue of John Barry". All you guys should do it as well and we will see how long it takes google to accept our suggestions! :D So I guess your polish person added the spot must be right :)

Love these Play Along's Tom! Keep em coming
The first one I was yelling "Philadelphia!!" at the screen because it's that place where Nicolas Cage's character goes in the "National Treasure" movie, which is basically all that I as a German know philly for 😂
Funny, my association was a few scenes from Trading Places with Eddie Murphy and Dan Akroyd, that were filmed right there at the closest park entrance and also the buildings to the right of the street straight ahead from said entrance.
i was thinking boston first, phily second so found it pretty quickly. have watched national treasure numerous times yet somehow didnt recognise it from that.
Always love to see your thought process as you go through these. Been watching for a while and always love your geoguesser even if you’re not top in the world 😂 Cheers mate
I found round 1 hilarious since I had just visited Philadelphia this summer, and immediately recognized the building. Then I recalled you had been through Philly, and it became even more hilarious.
Hey Tom! Something that I think could make your geoguessing even more engaging than it already is would be to maybe look into some of the things you were wondering about on video, like maybe Wikipedia-ing the bloke from the statue in the first round or translating the words in the South America rounds. I’m sure you’re a curious person just like the rest of us and it would stop the extra curious from having to pause the video and check ourselves ;) you researching the rounds was my favorite part of when you played the “worst disasters” map No criticism here whatsoever, love the videos and keep up the great work man
Tom, love everything you do mate. Came for the classic geo-guesser, stayed for the adventures, love love jumping back into the classic comfy geo-guesser.
Really exceptionally fun video! Loved it! The music choices, the funny comments, everything was great. Love these classic videos, you are still the best at them. Looking forward to the upcoming adventure video
For the Sucre - Bolivia one. I used to work 2 streets away on Calle Nicolás Ortiz at a bar called Bibliocafe. Stayed in the city for 4 months during a backpacking trip about 14 years ago. Absolutely beautiful city with wonderful people, 4 of the best months of my life.
Round 1 - For some reason I thought that "Barry" on the statue was the town/city name and it just felt like Canada to me. Turns out Canada has lots of towns that must be named after people... Ryan, Corbin, Cecil, Glen McPherson, Beverley, Raymond, Olga, Conrad, Oliver... Some have just outright weird names; Killdeer, Climax, Manyberries, Medicine Hat, Lucky Strike, Milk River, Legend, Chin, Skookumchuck, Hells Gate, Shutty Bench, Spuzzum, Big Muddy, Beaver, Big Beaver, Pie Island, Australian... I'm going to stop adding them, there's too many, I'll never make a guess lol
Wow what a coincidence that I went to Philadelphia for the first time 2 months ago, and the first place I visited was the old city. Really cool to see this spot show up where I just recently stood! Also no shame in completely blanking on standing there yourself, I'm sure there are a thousand things you boys experienced on that trip. Can't remember it all!
I got sensational 328m for 4999 in Sucre, Bolivia just because I simply went more "sur" than La Paz is, haha. First four rounds for almost 18K but unfortunately I have never heard about "Nuevo León" which apparently helped you so I failed to find the last one. The Croatian one was also hard, in the end well played as always.
Damn, i found a statue of Commodore Barry in Washington DC in a similar looking park, and the same Baji Industries a few hundred metres away from the actual one
Hi Tom, thanks for the challenge ! If you like this kind of NMNT (No Move No Time) challenges, you should try "A Scannable World", a perfect challenging map (each point is 5Kable). Work is in progress. Enjoy ;)
Well, I know I'm a rubbish Geoguessr player when it's only AFTER Tom finally figures out it's Mexico that I notice the glaring ALTO sign. 😂 (i.e. Not even noticing the few clues I actually know...)
Funny that you chose the same Bolivian city as I did, just because of the word Cruz 😂 I'm proud of myself for beating you in the fourth round though. The sing said Phase 2 and seeing Phase 1 and 2 on the map helped me finding the correct location. Also a perfect guess with 0 metres on the last round 😎
I always enjoy these classic style Geoguessr videos. One cool idea might be to learn the geography/cities of a particular country (one you've never visited) and then see if you can get a perfect score on it. Become a pro on some obscure country.
Me and my girlfriend watch your videos, we knew it was independence hall right away cause that is a couple feet from where I asked her to be my girlfriend! Super fun first round.
8:47 this comment is a guess for VARAŽDIN, Croatia Edit: no fucking way I've never been there, been to Zagreb and Slavonski brod though. Looked quite similar to the residential parts of Zagreb, especially with the vegetation, but knew it couldn't have been, been there too many a times to forget the mountains
It's first time I've clicked the same city as Tom without having a clue if it's correct country. Exactly 4158 points on Bolivia round, just a few streets away from Tom. Feels amazing!
I edged Tom out on this one, and as it often happens my experiences in many rounds were similar - for example, making a nearly identical guess in the second round based on vibes and a paucity of clues. I also 5ked the first and last rounds, but I can top Tom's embarrassment for length of time to find the first round. Not only am I American, but I've also been to the location, and it took me longer than Tom to find it. My only excuse is that I looked there almost straight away but was searching a slightly different spot a short way away that didn't quite match up, and then looked at a number of other U.S. Cities before coming back and discovering the right spot. I made up points on Tom by guessing the right city in round 3, but I was not at all sure of the country, let alone the city, and felt very lucky to get a good score there.
Didn't realise it was only the biggest cities, guessed a random square in Boston as I was sure it was in that city but I couldn't find it - obviously. Though Croatia was the Netherlands too. Not my finest attempt.
Did you see the Jay Foreman/Map Men episode recently where they played Geo Guesser and the loser had to travel to the place they guessed furthest from? Worth checking out for 💩s & giggles.
I found balaji industries but it was another branch that was 1.7 miles away. The sign was probably the address of the main office and the actual place was just a factory or something.

Did go Hungary on the Croatia as well, and La Paz instead of Sucre (btw, Santa Cruz looks nothing remotely like that in Bolivia, a very recognizable city in Geoguessr). So I lost, but still AUSW is still waiting for you, see if you can beat Zi8gzag and GeoPeter and others!
