Thank you for this. Zappa and the Mothers of Invention were brilliant. Not always easy on the ears but genius with sharp observations. Great song choice!
Been listening to this as long as I've been alive, lol. Very cool. Wasn't expecting to see a reaction to this one! Frank is a guy we sure could use right now. In fact, we could have used him every year since he died in the 90s. Gone WAY too soon.
PS: I forgot to say: GREAT reaction video. Every time the chorus came around, I loved how you relished singing those lyrics. I'd say I'm shocked no one has sampled this track over the years but it probably has to do with copyright. Zappa (and the Zappa estate) is like the Hendrix estate: they insist on getting paid! 😄
LOVE you on Patreon. It's like being invited to a lit after party just chillin' and enjoying one another's favs....not just the bangers but a deeper dive in artists' catalogues. And the personal shoutouts just add to the fun❣️
At 71 years old I have listened to Frank for many years. This is my favorite because it tells a story that just seems to repeat through the years. Unfortunately
Frank Zappa has been gone for at least 30 years. He said He would NEVER do anything that could be played on mainstream radio. He has a huge catalog with tons of crazy good songs. One of the top 10 guitarists ever. Check it out!
Dread. I grew up with this. My skin is white, but as the gentleman said, there are many times I wish I weren't. I am old. But once upon a time I tried very hard to stand up to the powers that be. I played in a mostly white reggae rock band. We were well regarded. Had the privilege of opening for the likes of Mutabaruka,. Aswad, Steel Pulse, and toured for 10 dates with the Burning Spear on his first US tour. I love electric electric guitar. FZ riffs are like Picasso. Analyze them all day. Useless. If you're an artist, BE YOURSELF. Peace.g
Frank raps man. He said one time he used to see the bro's around a firebarrel, on the sidewalks, in the backside of towns and take turns , whoever was the next one to throw their disses on the fire got to get their hands closer to the flames as they spurt out what was on their mind about why theyre feelin bad.
Frank had different ethnicitys in his band and in his early years it was tough getting a gig. Hes been through it all. Himself looking like a creepy weirdo oir momas warned us about. But je, like many of us, were left one time heartbroken, in trouble with the law for some stupid reason, and just keeps persisting in being himself. A very good role model . He made his own record label and all, securing intelectual rights decades before anyone else thought if it. He owns his empire. Period. And hes a genius. Hes still alive. In the sense. Legendary. Once you start listening to zappa music, theres no way out. You will spend tje rest of your life hearing awesome music youve never imagined hearing. And thats just the beginning.
One thing to keep in mind is that Zappa often used the “unreliable narrator” trope. He would sing lyrics that might have appeared to have been penned by a slightly dim witted but nevertheless socially concerned hippy. They were not always meant to be taken seriously. Often a tongue in cheek spoof or joke.
Can you please do a reaction to Gathu Mawula sung by a blind Indigenous Australian man named Gurrumul!!!! Its such a good song and I also reckon you'll like it.
This song is about the Watts Riots that began with a 21 year old black man was stopped for drunk driving. At some point a policeman hit him in the face with a police baton and rumors spread that police had kicked a pregnant woman who was at the scene. That was the spark that exposed police mistreatment of the black residents of the area. The fires burned for nearly a week and that's what Frank is describing.
Not much difference between this and early Rap music. His vocal delivery is flat and monotone, more like talking than singing. And the subject matter was what was going on in the streets at that time. No doubt about it, Zappa was a Rap pioneer, among other things. 😲
Zappa was a brilliant composer & musician as well as a brilliant social/political commentator
YAASSS! And timeless.
Zappa was filth
One of the great musical geniuses of the past 50 years
The whole zappa family, you can throw in the trash 🤣 🤣
Shit ugly zappa was an insult to other composers, musicians
Thank you for this. Zappa and the Mothers of Invention were brilliant. Not always easy on the ears but genius with sharp observations. Great song choice!
Good choice! I would never have guessed that things would get worse instead of better ✌️
My early years this album was played a lot!
Zappa = Legend

He was thinking of running for president until he got cancer.... interviews with him showed how wise he was with politics stuff...
It was written in the summer of 65, but it could have been written in the summer of love (2020). R.I.P. Frank!
SO TRUE! TIMELESS.
@@dianeouellette3571 that's the real point, friend, Eminem might have written that.
@@tessierashpoolmg7776 So true!
Without shit ugly zappa, the music World would be much better 🤣 🤣 🤣
❤❤❤ You guys!! Thanks for picking this one. FZ’s music will be studied 100 years from now….
cool, a Zappa reaction! Loved it! Subbed for more... Peace and love from Bavaria!

Another Zappa Rap!!!!
Beatnik rap and psychedelic music come together not knowing they wrote the 1st rap song..before I was born...guy was a genius!
Zappa was truly amazing, brilliant and ahead of his time.
Cmon, nobody ever rapped like that!
At 71 years old I have listened to Frank for many years. This is my favorite because it tells a story that just seems to repeat through the years. Unfortunately
One of the tamer Zappas, lol.
Tame Zappa still has its edge
Great song. Whenever you get a chance try the live version of More Trouble Everyday on the Roxy or Elsewhere album.
Long live the music of the maestro, Mr. Frank Zappa....."CRANK SOME FRANK".
What a joy to watch you enjoying the Mothers of Invention. They sang truth even though folks didn't want to hear it.
Starting in the basement... like me! Freak Out! Keep going in order. LOTS of love. Cheers. X
The most respected man in rock that most never listened to.
Listen to Zappa every day. Seen him 7 times live
@@andrewhoran7088 I saw him once. Brilliant guitarist. Hardy something people put on at parties.
@@Sopmylo you just haven’t been to the right party
Lucky enough to have seen him once.
Zappa was great. A lot more out there from him
This song was originally titled The Watts Riot Song. It's literally about the riots in South Central Los Angeles that lasted nearly a week.
Also known as the Watts Riot Song, as the Watts riot inspired this.
Frank Zappa has been gone for at least 30 years. He said He would NEVER do anything that could be played on mainstream radio. He has a huge catalog with tons of crazy good songs. One of the top 10 guitarists ever. Check it out!
Keep in mind that this song was recorded in March of 1966. No one else sounded like this back then.
The live version from Roxy and Elsewhere is fire no comparison and hits like it should.
And this doesn't?
Great song.
Zappa was a visionary of how things are, not how things are said to be, and he never wavered in that approach, to the very end. RESPECT.
Awesome bless you. Continue , on you life grow & understand that's what many think. 👍👍🙏. You have a great soul, 👍.

He is so missed
I'm so happy for the public can hear that. A brownie is a Camara from the 50's in case you are not 70 years old ❤
"Without music to decorate it, time is just a bunch of boring production deadlines or dates by which bills must be paid.” Frank Zappa!
Zappas shit music without sense sucked 😂😂😂
Poor Troll , your life does not mean well with you😂😂😂😂

Take these lyrics and put them to a little bit of a modern beat and you have a legit rap song.
1966. So far ahead of its time!
timeless.
Away with the pathetic shit zappa, he has no buisiness there
😂

Ahhh. The watts riots...im glad zappa covered this so it wouldn't get lost down a memory hole.
Jewel “Foolish Games “
702 “Get It Together “
Yes!!!
Some have said that Trouble Coming Every Day from 1965 was the first rap song. Either way, I love the music of Frank Zappa.
Frank spent his high school years here in the antelope Valley
thanks
💝
The first hip hop tune 😎
I'll bet there won't be many here to see it really end....The very first "Rap" song.
Good choice man

Mothers produced this in 1968. 55 years ago.
Frank Zappa made the US Government nervous. Very nervous indeed .

Thats how rap began.
Tim can we here Kodac Black, **super gremlins?** Catchy, even for me who doesn't get into that genre too much. Thanks!
Hows that for The first rap song
Thats what he wanted and made happen.
React to nsync - pop mtv 2001. There's a surprise at the end
Another very early example of what would later be called Rap.
Listen to his Overnight Sensation album
Do I'm the slime
Please respond to “Hi Ren” I promise you will be very glad if you do. It is the most amazing, brilliant song I’ve ever heard in my life.
suggestion: black sabbath, "wicked world" or "paranoid"

Do Tech N9ne-Slacker tho
