  • It's time to protect the paint from physical damage like rocks, for this we need PPF (Paint Protection Film). Film and installation is not cheap but it's worth it on such an expensive car. Ryan from Auto Paint Guard lets me ask my stupid questions so all of us can learn about the process of applying PPF.

    This guy is a wizard. I have watched countless hours of PPF installs and this guy takes the prize. I didn't see a seam anywhere. I just about fell off my chair laughing when he asked who did Matt's PPF install on his car. You could just see the guys brain say "Esoteric Who"? Then again im sure hes busy working at his craft and not watching RUclips videos all the time.

  • @scottcampbell10
    @scottcampbell10 5 лет назад

    Something I don't understand - When you wrap a panel with vinyl, it's crucial to start at the middle and work out to the edges in straight lines across the whole panel to avoid trapping any bubbles underneath. This never seems to be the case with PPF, because obviously they have to make sure the edges are correct first, but how then can the film be squeegee'd smooth when the edges are down? Mainly those hood vents - surely sticking them down first would only cause problems when trying to squeegee the rest of the hood?! Baffling 😂

    • @milaskilathelab
      @milaskilathelab 5 лет назад +3

      @RICARDO Oh yeah. Standard New Car Prep details can cost 2-4 Grand. PPF takes time to create each panel piece, it's a whole other level. Hence the price. Don't discourage it if you don't understand. Or won't..

    • @ryanott6763
      @ryanott6763 5 лет назад +4

      RICARDO try installing it yourself, then you’ll see why it costs so much

    • @milaskilathelab
      @milaskilathelab 5 лет назад +2

      Let me know when you've sat down on your arse for 40 hours polishing a vehicle. How do you think they put PPF onto a car? Just get a square piece and cut it to shape with some scissors? You shape each piece to the panel of the vehicle. It's like a vinyl, you peel it off the backing and apply it to the area. Like anything, it takes time. Which justifies the outrageous cost, you have materials cost (high end ppf), labour (never cheap), and many have overheads to pay for. 8 Grand isn't expensive when you compare it to the price of the car. @RICARDO

    How come they just don’t use a big sheet of PPE why do they custom cut every piece

  • @AndyGarton
    @AndyGarton 5 лет назад

    The downside to not doing the whole car is that over time you'll see a bigger difference in the finish. No matter how carefully you wash, you'll get minor swirling in the non-PPF sections. The PPF will self heal, so won't show these. Not a big deal arguably, but it's why I favour doing all, or nothing.

    • @ObsessedGarage
      @ObsessedGarage  5 лет назад

      Self healing is not all it's cracked up to be. The PPF will oxidize and show wear anyway.
