The main things I like about the trade is how it benefits both team. Rangers have increased cap space which they already resigned Igor. Anaheim gets another Gudas. Trouba also gives us options to do stuff at the deadline. Whether it’s Gibson, Fowler, Killorn’s god awful contract, or even flipping Trouba while retaining salary we have options.
@@duckmylife if trouba allows us to get rid of traffic cone man then he can play for the next 10 years as a duck I can live with that at least he is useful for brutalizing people great on the penalty kill and wont turnover a puck into 50 breakaways right in the middle of the ice like dumbass traffic cone man
@@dudeco93 I mean 3 years left on that contract seems tough to move, I don't think he's too BAD to move, but that's a lot of cap space for a playoff team to carry. Maybe an offseason trade..? Tho the Ducks dont look to me to be competitive next season so... good luck finding a replacement for him on the open market. 🤷♀
Dumolin is on an expiring contract. He will be traded. Probably fowler too. This also gives additional protection for little Z and minty. His probable d partner.
We need teams to be scared of the blue line. Adding Trouba if he brings the physicality and the violence and he plays like Gudas in his first year this will be a great trade.
This is a tremendous acquisition by the Ducks ..right handed defenseman who is a tough defender with something to prove...less attacks on younger players with him around ...😊
I’m going to think positive on this one. Trouba has been in a miserable situation lately, and before that his spot was stolen by an elite kid coming up in Adam Fox. Fresh start after getting acclimated I have hope he can add a lot to this lineup. That a lot may also end up to be half retained for draft picks. But I hope he gets his game back and the Ducks are better for it
It seems like there isn’t much talent willing to come to Anaheim so overpaying is just the new norm I guess. Fowler needs that trade. The young guys are ready and they need those opportunities.
We will move Fowler , Doumilin has been great imo this year so I wouldn’t mind keeping him. Trouba is. A Good hockey player and let’s see if he can turn his game around
Yeah, this has cap floor retention written all over it "if" the Ducks trade Fowler and Gibson. It does make the blue line tougher, but unless there is a bit a resurgence in Trouba's game probably not much more than that...which for the team right now is still very much needed. At least with Gudas and Trouba other teams won't be able to walk all over the kids nearly as much. They might even get some more room to play with. We'll see. Not the worst trade in the world.
My initial reaction was why the hell are we paying assets for someone else's cap dump. And there is something to that point. But primarily, it all depends on whether we can use him properly or not. He could be an asset in the locker room and with development of our young LD's. Or not. His recent form is not the exactly promising. But we have to wait and see. In either case, cap wise it's a non issue and both assets we gave up are replaceable, so the risk with this trade is not really big of a deal.
I wonder if they don't plan to trade Dumoulin this year - he may be ancient by modern standards but he's still relatively sound as a 7th D for a playoff team, 43 blocks, +1 on a poor team, and cheap..?
I actually really like Dumo and would love for him to be resigned. But he mentioned before he got here that he wanted to go to an East Coast team. So will have to wait and see!
@@duckmylife I think Dumo is like that everywhere he goes, he's a great lunchpail dude that everyone loves, but with half retained maybe he fetches a 3rd at the deadline? But yeah the Ducks could just keep him for culture too, I bet
The Ducks are third worst in the league for goals per game but eighth place in goals against. The problem for the Ducks the last several seasons is that they don't score goals, and Verbeek even said before the offseason that their priority was to get a top 4 forward. I don't see how Trouba helps the team at all. This could be just another example of trading a player for more picks (which everyone knows will could very possibly happen with Dumoulin, Vatrano, and Fowler) if Trouba is willing to waive his clause and allow him to be traded at the deadline. In short: the Ducks acquired Trouba but he doesn't actually address any of the actual problems the Ducks have (scoring goals being the main one) so getting him is pointless unless Verbeek trades him for picks just like he did with Lyubushkin last season and Klingberg the season before. Basically a lot of transactions but with no real tangible outcome for the Ducks at the end.
At first, I was a bit shocked to it because of the same reasons, but if we can trade Fowler out and imo keep Dumo as he's been solid; with Minty/Zelly/Helly pairing up with them its gonna be a good time.
Only bad thing about Trouba is his contract. Guy is light-years ahead of Vaakanainen. Trouba is an actual NHL defenseman while Vaakanainen is AHL level. Vaakanainen will only help Hartford wolfback.
Time to trade Fowler. Give the young Lefties more ice time, especially with another added right shooting D. Maybe pick up another forward in exchange for Fowler.
Pros: I could see the Ducks flipping him for picks later too? Physicality - cap floor Cons: He’s gonna take a ton of penalties now, and take minutes from the new guys.
This is a real test for GMPV. If this is it, then he was taken to the cleaners. If he is moving Dumoulin then fine. Small step. If he is moving Fowler than 🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
no we need dumolin.. fowlers gotta go. i believe we are only keeping him cuz hes a vet and now well trouba. i just wish the trade included kreider for vat as well. We did them a solid taking his cap so they could sign shesterkin. Hopefully they can return it later down the line if needed.
@@duckmylife sign him to 2 year maybe.. but i guess we might be able to dangle him at the deadline.. i would like to see us make a short term deal tho!
NY is the only winner in this one. I guess we were the only suckers to take him with his $8M salary. This only makes sense if we traded Fowler with this high salary…Fowler has NO passion to play the game anymore. This makes no sense. We need scoring and leadership. The Hockey experts are just laughing at us. Hope I’m wrong. Miss the old Ducks that had a bite and solid offense.
If Ducks want to be tougher…we need to move Fowler and I hate say it…Terry. The Wild game…no one wants to step up. I have no issue with penalty on Vatrano roughing the Wild player when he kept trying to score after the whistle. Vatrano gets in a fight and Fowler cowardly skates away like he always does. He just needs to go or limit his ice time. I will take Helleson over Fowler any day!!!
Trade reaction? Well the locker room must be really messed up to bring in an $8 mil fix, I see a 5 game losing streak on the horizon.... Dreading the Z update
I always wonder.......... what goes through Anaheim Duck players mind...... when session after session, its loss after loss.... Bottom of the table, season after season. Do they even care? i mean they still get paid. The Ducks have many talented players but have not managed to get it together in YEARS.
I hope your right ear enjoyed 🤦♀Idk how that happened. I'll check my settings for the next video

I love that you shows Etem’s dangle against Trouba. One of my favorite playoff goals the Ducks have scored.

I’m excited for the addition!.. as long as we can kick Fowler out. It’s no coincidence since he came back the team went downhill
Me personally I like the Trouba trade he could mentor some of the younger D man and bring some toughness into the Ducks squad
Yea, it's looking good!

Trouba has been a really reliable DMan and has that power within him, I'm sure he can rebound and find his game again.
Hopefully he protects our young skill forwards. No more free runs at Leo!
👏
We need HARD HITS! if we gonna lose 60% of the games at least we need lost whith hard hits, no be passive team

@@duckmylife Looks like NYR want Vatrano back too.
I only like this trade if 1 of 2 things happen.
1) we trade Fowler
2)Fowler becomes 7th dman.
Hopefully #1
Well, PV made the Ducks soft by trading away Des and Manson.....he waited a long time to get back some toughness....so that's on him!
True
I personally I like the trade. Now we just need to move Fowler
Agreed!
As long as Cam gets moved out soon (with respect) then this is a good trade. Change of scenery will have a big impact on Trouba I'm betting. Go Ducks!
