It's difficult to understand this video. It would have helped tremendously to do a side-by-side comparison along with text on the screen of what identifies the real rice and what identifies the plastic rice. I could not understand if this person was saying if the rice was real or plastic. This video was confusing. He never said "THIS RICE IS PLASTIC," or "THIS RICE IS REAL." Nothing seemed conclusive to me. It's as if the viewer is supposed to figure it out on our own. If that's so then why are we watching in the first place? Yes it is a bit frustrating.

Step 1) Debunked. Some individual grains of rice WILL float in water. It's completely normal and doesn't mean the rice is fake.
Step 2) Debunked. Plastic doesn't dissolve in room temperature water. The only thing you are going to be doing here is getting more starch out of the rice grains, and make the water more cloudy which may lead someone to think the rice is actually dissolving when it's only starch.
Step 3) Debunked. Rubbing rice isn't going to do much either. Your not likely to create enough heat to make the plastic malleable.
Step 4) Misinformation/ Debunked. Regular rice can and will burn, although so far this is the BEST way to tell if rice is fake or not. Plastic rice will melt and burn under flame.
Step 5) Misiformation/ Debunked. Normal rice can stick when cooked in oil. I've seen it tons of times in my life when cooking. If you threw plastic in hot oil it would melt and not retain the pellet shape. Second best way to tell if you have plastic pellets though.
Step 6) Unknown/Unlikely. Plastic doesn't really bounce. Rubber is more likely to bounce but we're not talking about rubber are we? I'm sure there could be a type of rice that might actually have a little bounce in it, like basmatti or jasmine maybe, so it could be possible that rice could bounce a little. Dunno. At any rate plastic rice would have already melted long before you could shape it into a ball anyway, so this step is highly unlikely anyway since you would likely already know if it was fake.
None of your "tests" are really conclusive and you don't show any actual samples of fake rice. All but 1 are easily debunked, and the last one I simple don't have enough info on and never heard of it being used as proof of fake rice, and yet I still can explain it away.

    • @valmontdraconus
      @valmontdraconus 7 лет назад +6

Adding, yes it is CONFIRMED that when cooked in the right way RICE CAN BOUNCE. Let's change step 6 to Debunked,
      "Bouncy rice
But rumours have persisted that plastic is being sold as rice, fuelled by videos which show people bouncing rice balls. Some also purport to show how the rice is made in factories.
Alexander Waugh, director of the Rice Association, a UK-based industry group, says the videos may be authentic - but not because the grains are plastic. Rice - when prepared in the right way - can actually bounce, Waugh told BBC Trending radio.
"The natural characteristics of rice are carbohydrates and proteins and you can do something like that with rice," Waugh says."

He didn't mean plastic in the way English-speakers mean "plastic." They use the word plastic when they mean "synthetic". All your "debunking points" are based on not understanding that.
It wasn't a well made video, but what he was "trying" to get across were actual facts. Another East Indian would have understood his words - if they didn't understand his video. :)

I just went through about 1/4 of the comments and I don't think I've seen such bullying and putting someone down in such a short time. No one makes us watch RUclips videos, so why be so cruel? Just because you may not like something a person is doing doesn't mean that you need to be mean. Clearly "Cyber Bullying" has gotten so much worse. People have committed suicide over less than I saw in the comments. Please people.......be kind and put good energy out into the world. Blessings & 💜 everybody!

There's natural rice and artificial rice, which the latter is made of broken rice and other grains. It isn't plastic rice, but it sure is fake rice.
What makes me a 10000% sure the man in the video is talking about recomposed rice rather than true plastic rice is the 3:56 timestamp: he says that plastic rice dissolves in water.
      Plastic doesn't dissolve in water.
To summarize, let's put it this way: Recomposed rice (wrongfully called plastic rice) is nothing more than a noodle cut into the shape of rice grains.

Based on this comment section, none of you eat and cook rice often.
He was showing examples of how real rice reacts. If you cooked rice yourselves you would know.
First, Real rice keeps its shape until cooked. Real rice can “burn” although it doesn’t retain flames since it’s not very flammable and will not melt. Real rice will not bounce but can be shaped like a ball such as sticky rice and have a bounce to it but not like a bouncy ball or egg rolling on grass. Real rice will keep its shape when burned with oil and even pop but will not melt in the pan.
Second, Plastic rice is the general term for Fake rice. It doesn’t mean all fake rice was made from plastic. It could have been made from clay or flour or other cheap substitute that could look like rice but make you sick. All of his steps help you identify the different kinds. 🙄
Third, the inhumane creation of “plastic” rice was because stupid sellers wanted to scam their poor customers by giving the rice substitute to the poor and selling the real rice to the money makers so they could sell more for less.
If you ate rice and did not need to be rushed to the hospital, then your rice was not rotten and it was not plastic rice. Plastic rice was discovered because people noticed after eating it and getting sick.
The news covered this years ago but it resurged after some product made it out of China. The brands were ruined but likely relabeled themselves under another name. No one shared the brands because the names were gag ordered in China to stop the flow of info because it caused so much shame. You can however find those brands, but you would need to translate them and have the country IP to get the more detailed info. China gov probs deleted it from their server though.

How can you dissolve plastic rice ? No doubt it absorb some water.Cant believe isn't it ?. But it's fact. Plastic is a polymerised form of monomer. A very fine gaps remains between monomers. Water gets absorb in that gap . The process is known as percolation.

Plastic rice is actually called "nurdles". *Nurdles are small plastic pellets (look like white rice) that serve as the base raw material for the manufacturing of plastic products.* Google or Bing "nurdles" for complete info. They were never meant to be edible, and with one moment in your mouth, you'd know they are plastic! No special test is needed.
