The volume peaks at times, due to post-production compression - apologies! I've readjusted my microphone gain so hopefully It won't blow out any ears going forward.
Nice to see you, Lydia. Glad you had a nice vacation. I always enjoy your enthusiasm for reading. I've been in a bit of a reading slump too. I feel like I need that Wes Craven book asap! I love Dead and Buried too, and I also have the book. As always, you inspire me.🥰
Aww thank you! I'll let you know how the Wes Craven book is. I bet you'll have good luck finding it and I'll cross my fingers for it haha. There are so many good used bookstores in PA :)
I’m usually not huge on hauntings, but your rapturous response to The Haunting of Velkwood makes me curious to check it out. It’s a slim volume so I just might… her story in American Cannibal was one of my favorites! A new video from you always brightens my day :) currently tearing through Monstrosity by Edward Lee and it’s like meeting up with an old friend. So glad your videos turned me on to him!
Aw, thank you! And so glad Edward Lee has found a squishy home in your heart - he is maybe underappreciated, or an acquired taste, or both! Velkwood is really that perfect length where it takes just long enough to get through it that no time is wasted if it does not hit the spot - and where I look forward to reading it again right away because it did :) Hope you dig it!
Awesome haul! Ed Gein really interests me, my wife thinks I have an unhealthy obsession with serial killers, I reassure her that she is the only one for me. 😂 The Haunting Of Velkwood is high priority on my tbr. The Worm and His King is on my wish list after reading an excellent collection by the author. You have to read Roald Dahl, some of his adult fiction is quite dark. The Boris Karloff's anthology looks and sounds wonderful. Looking forward to any future hauling/unhauling videos in future.
I grew up in a house where true crime was only second in entertainment to good movies rented on VHS. At least by my mother's standards, but I'd say my dad and your wife think alike. He thought my my mom was a little weird too haha. I feel like I missed a bus when it comes to Roald Dahl! Knowing he had a darker, adult bent but never reading any. I'll be fixing this! Hopefully you've been able to get a copy of the Haunting of Velkwood as I found it so very good.
Roald Dahl is less scary horror than a nasty sting in the tale. Lydia, I would love to have a live chat with you sometime in future, please let me know if this would work with you.
Awww! I miss going to Black Squirrel Books! A video on graphic novels about serial killers?? YES PLEASE! Please let us know your thoughts on the Wes Craven book! This was a fun haul- thanks for sharing.
I hope it's good! He was a creative dude so if he wasn't a good writer I hope he got someone to help haha. We'll chat soon and maybe plan some kind of Black Squirrel date!!
I read the Karloff anthology a long time ago (the late Seventies) and remember it was very good. I'm not sure how much impact Karloff had on this volume, but he did edit an anthology in the Forties, "And the Darkness Falls," which is very highly regarded. (And also very expensive, so I haven't read it or even seen a copy.)
Ah, that is one I'd like to keep my eye out for. It is a little oddity, like a Vincent Price cookbook, that would be nice to have. Glad it was an enjoyable read for you, as it will be keeping me company through the heat of summer!

"The Landlady" is the most frightening story I've read by Roald Dahl.
Oh yes! We had to read that in high school. Very creepy story
I will keep an eye out for this one then - thank you!
I’ve had my eye on Dead & Buried. Great finds! You have me intrigued on Velkwood 👀
Thank you! Velkwood was a really great read and made me wish there was a sequel or prequel already :)

I haven't read the book by Wes Craven but I've read a book about him. He was a interesting amd fascinating guy.
He truly was! I think he and Tobe Hooper are directors I would have loved to have lunch with and just hear them ramble on about nearly anything :)
