Nice intro to both plants and care.
Not low tech, low light plants. Co2, ferts, active substrate, or root tabs. Yep...I love seeing other folks's beautifully grown carpets, just not for me with my low tech, neglect the plants tanks 😂
Gorgeous plants when they are done correctly and happy though.
👍💕👍
This was extremely helpful and highly informative and without this I wouldn’t be able to have made the decision between Monte Carlo and all the other carpets thank you so very much
You are so very welcome! Glad to help :)
Thank you for doing these videos. You manage to be articulate without talking over anyone’s head or appear patronizing - well done - I enjoy your videos.
Thank you! I know i get a bit wordy, but i try to keep things conversational, as if you are actually visiting my house- rather than a bullet point lecture
You live close enough to go to the Coop and The Wet Spot, dang. I'll just sit here on the east coast and eat my jealousy sammies, 😂
4 hour drive to the wet spot... 20 or 30 mins to the coop, sierra fish and pets, and to aquarium zen. I do feel lucky, but honestly i still use aquaticarts.com for most specialty fish and plants hehe....hanaquatics.com for rare plants... and for ultra rare fish, ill drive to Portland's Wet Spot/Cichlid Exchange every 3 or 4 months
Really informative video. You are a natural youtuber
Thanks...i know im a nature youtuber...but to hear im a natural...thank you hehe. Also- thanks for watching and please feel free to check out my archive of nearly 500 videos if you dig this. Cheers!
No what your doing a grand gob there with the aquariums .and you kept .up .the show .good
Good info, thank you
😁👍
Any time! Thank YOU
If you were to establish a root column and a carpet across an area on aquasoil, could you slowly add thin layers of sand on top over time to end up with a carpet on top of an inch or more of sand?
Sometimes it'll work...but usually they weight causes the plants to just push up and while it will colonize horizontal space, often it'll look like someone pull up the hair grass and the roots rise to the sand top... but it's worth a shot!
Good video, now I know why they call baby tears Cuba. Have very good succsess with monte carlo but co2 is essential . ADA dont make amazonia 2 or light anymore, now we have Amazonia version 2 it had the nutrients that you can add. How do send you some pics of my tanks?
Yeah, i liked their old system...and bought several large bags of the old style Amazonia Aquasoils. The link in the description has our channel's Facebook group. Feel free to join and share your handy work!
With monte carlo, how could I keep the detritus from accumulating in the bottom of it? And how will I get rid of that stuff when it gets thicker?
You can always get a wide mouth /large diameter gravel vacuum tube and just press it down a bit on the foliage. Another option is getting some shrimp to pick through the fine particles...and yet another option is to add enough flow to the tank, that it keeps the mulm and debris moving, and thus pulled into whatever filtration you're using. Best of luck to you!
For the Algorithm!
To get ready
Is crushed coral ok instead of sand? Some of the plants i want to plant in my 36 gal bowfront tank requires calcium, or would that burn out the buffering capabilities of the controsoil?
It's okay just test your gh and kh and make sure they aren't crazy high...nor is your Ph / TDS overtime
@@Fishtory i just decided to plant dwarf hair grass instead of dwarf baby tears lol. Also, I have a ro buddi plus di system, so ill be able to make my own rodi water. To help bring down the ppm of the tap water ill be mixing together. My problem now is that I bought a half full 5 lb tank of co2 and it doesn't have all the required stuff for a planted tank. I wish I could show you the picture of it, so you can tell me what to get.

Is it just me or do those plants fit in MUCH better aesthetics wise with ornate rockwork aquariums? A carpet fronting all larger plants...isnt as big an impression. Monte Carlo under Sword plants or Cabomba...not so good. With Dragon stone? Fantastic as we all have seen!
There's some truth to that. It's all about scale. Carpets look so unique or detailed against big rock work...fine needle leaf plants also do....you can communicate a much larger scale, within your small aquarium if you use the plants correctly
Time traveling 😅
I don't need to know anything other than the name. I'm not putting something called "baby tears" in my tank.
*dwarf baby tears*
