I've had this cheap compressor+airbrush set just two years ago when I began modelling and wasn't sure if I was going to practice this hobby for a long time. It did a really honest job for one year and a half and I painted about 20 models with it. Of course, compared to a higher-end compressor, it's noisy and tends to get hot. But it did a real good job for more than a year. I've bought a new compressor a few month ago but I still keep this one and it still works flawlessly :)
I'm just starting my new hobby in building High grades Gunpla and I'm thinking to get one of these kit since I only have time like 2-3 days a month on building Gunplas since I have other things to do, so I don't want to spend a lot for airbrush kit. I guess I'm sold with your testimony. Thank you. How long did it become overheat? And if it overheats, does the compressor automatically turned off?

Hello mate. I've started model building on the same situation. Since march/2020 I have exactly the kit shown on the video and I can't complain. Seven models (1/35 tanks) already done. I'm still learning but have noticed how easily I can use tamiya products and how hard Ammo and Italeri paints are (in my case) to apply because the tip always dry too soon and I have to stop and clean. Might be the wrong solvent but maybe the airbrush/compressor also are to blame.
Same situation, except for me the airbrush that came with the kit constantly clogged and wouldn’t spray no matter how thin the paint was. Bought a siphon feed from harbor freight and it works perfect
I think it looks great, it’s very portable, it’s a good option for beginners who only make model kits occasionally. I quite like it myself, and if you can build 20 models with it without breaking it then it’s worth the money. But since it’s constantly running it might be burned out after painting 5 model kits😂

Bought a similar unit 2 years ago and still going strong and have built many car and aircraft models using it. Had some initial usage problems with things like spray nozzle adjustments (critical) and how much paint thinning was required, but I think that had more to do with the fact that this was my first airbrush rather than any fault of the unit. Had to replace hose but only because I stood on it. If you adjust pressure knob just so, I found compressor (yes, same Harley Davidson sound as the one on this vid) will only run as you're actually spraying and will shut off a couple of seconds after trigger release. Slightly thinner paint with these cheap units is also a big help.
Thank you for your Video I just ordered a kit similar to this yesterday. I am aware that you get what you pay for and I’m looking at this is starting point. As my skill and knowledge increase I’ll up grade components as needed. Thanks again.

Have that same exact one I bought for around US$35 when I returned about 3 years ago. Still using it now even for my professional commissioned work with the only damaged part being the nozzle because i dropped the airbrush.
I have this one for quite a while now. I do occasionally paint when time permits and I think its perfect for smaller scale models like what I mostly do (sd and hg gunpla kits) been wanting to get a better set up tho as it is prone to have moisture build up despite having that moisture trap. Plus the airbrush it came with is sensitive to viscous paint and you may want to thin the paint you are using despite it being ready to use out of.the bottle. A 2½:1 ratio of thinner to paint is advisable based on my experience

Let me know if this kind of video would be useful (how to properly use this kind of mini setup/ maintain airbrush) :)
@@StaticModel no no actually I think it is way too thinned. I tried to add it to a green for highlights and it actually thins the green paint. My friend said it may be due to a certain ingredient was taken out, something to do with lead and poison? idk. I always have maximum pressure at all times, airbrush works fine on all other paints. this happens to my friend too that uses tamiya white. Its very odd. I would like a troubleshooter video on this airbrush, as other odd occurrences do happen sometimes. Thanks
@@StaticModel I had a similar problem when I used this same airbrush for the first time, I dismantled the airbrush and rebuilt it and it was fine. Great video. Thanks. I'm starting this hobby also and bought the airbrush in the video. My worst fear is the paint "liquibility"... Any tips? Thank you.
It's better to make paint too thin at first spray attempt. Cause you can always add a bit more paint till it be perfect mix. If you make paint too thick at first spray, you will clog it... Disassembly and cleaning is the last thing you want to do right after purchase of first airbrush :)
I'm back on this video lol. I just got the new version of this airbrush kit, the one with the auto-off feature. It's a nice addition, not too noisy now lol. Just had a problem as I was cleaning the airbrush (I clogged it 😂) the nozzle o-ring disintegrated as I was screwing it back. Had to buy multiple replacements now just to be sure 😂. Also for the new auto-off feature, it only automatically shuts off if the pressure valve is set to high. When set to low, the compressor runs continuously. Used it for an hour, spray testing outdoors, it warmed up but not too warm. So IMO it would last 2hours max in a session before it really heats up.
@@mateuszpytka1058 I bought this locally so I can't give you a link to a specific one, sorry. Only you know the answer:) If you are thinkerer and don't expect everything just to work magically by itself this kit will do the job. But first you must to learn how to use it correctly:)
Automotive paint require high pressure and spray guns that generate fine paint mist while also delivering high amount of medium in a single aerosol cloud. In short words it will work but it will easily distinguishable, just like touch up markers. Cancel Reply
@@royal_gambit_e4 it will work, but you will have to experiment with thinning ratios and pressure..Also of you own a car, there is a big chance you have a compressor or a tire pump. So you can get only a airbrush without compressor and use tire as an air source. More on that you will learn from other RUclipsrs.
Thank you for making this informative video sir, I bought the exact same airbrush and compressor set from amazon. After using the airbrush for some time, it stopped working. After seeing many online guides and doing a complete deep cleaning, I finally got it working again but it stopped again after 30 second. Now the airbrush sometime works for one minute but the next minute it stops. Do you have any idea as to why this could be happening. Thank You
It is important to understand what part of system fails. Is it airbrush or compressor? See if compressor keeps pumping air without airbrush connected. If it still stops, there is something wrong with compressor itself. If it only stops when airbrush is connected, that means there is a clock in air system or airbrush trigger is faulty.
@@StaticModel The problem is definitely not with the compressor as I have tested it thoroughly. It is most likely with the airbrush. I have not identified a consistent problem but sometimes there are bubbles in the airbrush cup. I have deep cleaned the airbrush, but it is extremely inconstant whether it worked or not
@@thequantumcuber3261 bubbles are usually caused by poor seals at nozzle cap, poor seal also make paint to dry out in awkward areas of airbrush, also "dry tip" issue will occur more often. Maybe your nozzle is split or cracked also, worth checking.
@@DrDreuhh i use coresponding thinners, usually same brand as paint. I believe nail artists use special inks for nails that are pre thinned. Base color comes with more traditional nail polish but than all the intriguing details and transitions are made with thin inks and stencils:)
Can't really guide you on this... Chrome look is hard to achieve even with professional airbrushes... But if you go with it, Alclad black primmer + chrome color is your best bet.

If it's a necessary component to the machine, where can I find it? Anyone who can help, is my life saver.
Moisture trap prevents condensed water from getting into your airbrush ant later into your paint. For example when you paint, big blob of water coming out from air hose can cause paint spit/splatter... Some people use transparent air hoses to monitor moisture build up in air channel. Also moisture traps are commonly available on ebay, alliexpress, amazon ect...
if i want to go one step further ..... what should i go for? any airbrush that you could recommend, just a bit more powerful? thanks. and thanks for this video XD

Rc body paint tend to have flexible additives, those increase paint viscosity and thickness. That's why rc body paint require more air pressure than this compressor can deliver. Short answer - no.

It seems you're not thinning down your paints & primers before putting it into the airbrush. That's something you should do. Always thin your paints & primers before airbrushing them. That way the compressor won't have such a hard time.
I intentionally used pre thinned "airbrush friendly" paint that is marketed specifically for use right from the bottle, because that is what beginners usually go for. If you are experienced and willing to play with thinning ratios, it's most likely you also want precise pressure control and another compressor kit.

How does your white come out so well? I use Vallejo model air white and it comes out in stupid spits and clumps and tiny specks and spots. I also use the exact same airbrush and compressor lol
I guess you are not thinning paint enough ? Or maybe your airbrush is not serviced correctly? Check your nozzle setup and air cap, make sure there is no air gap. Use maximum pressure.
Thanks
@@StaticModel yea do that because i bought this and i wouldn't have a clue.
@@StaticModel I had a similar problem when I used this same airbrush for the first time, I dismantled the airbrush and rebuilt it and it was fine. I did notice a few parts had a bit of manufacturing residue which was just wiped with a dry cloth, once rebuilt it painted perfectly. And really not as noisy as it seems! I love mine!
@@Thebiggestswede That's a good common practice. Recommended even with brand name airbrushes.
I was thinking on buying this just to apply primer paint to miniatures. Would you recommend it?
It will work for the task given, but it won't be a pleasant experience. So I don't recommend it :)
@@StaticModel thanks!
"lol"
😂
Do you have by chance a name or a link for the auto-off version?
@@mateuszpytka1058 I bought this locally so I can't give you a link to a specific one, sorry.
Just put "airbrush kit" on Amazon and many will pop up, different brands but I'd bet they're all the same. Do read the description and reviews to see if it has the auto off feature, because from where I bought mine it didn't say anything about it, so it was a surprise.
@@mosheep Thanks! I found one with auto off, however it said that this feature works only on minimum setting. Could you confirm that? Anyway, much appreciated. :)
Does these mini air brush tools can spray wide?
Not really, 5cm as wide as it will go.
Is it good to use with liquitex varnishes and mediums?
No :)
@@StaticModel ok. Then I have to keep looking.
Can you technically attach a tank on this tiny compressor?
You can, but it will kill it that way very fast.
Possible to use this for sandblast media
No, this one is more for casual painting and make-up with highly diluted paint.
Thanks brother this was insanely helpful!
I use an old testers airbrush and compressor. It's a single action, but it has served me well for what it is. This would be a step up for me.
To be honest it is not worth upgrading from your setup to this, I rather get good compressor and stick with your testors airbrush :)
Is that the 0.03mm one?
I believe so.
hello how to order this machine i live in angola continent africa
Sorry but I am just a scale model hobbyist, not a logistics specialist.
My nozzle is damaged and where can i buy a new one for this airbrush?
AlliExpress or eBay. Just make sure to get same size as your neede.
@@StaticModel thx
Name so i can go look to purchasee
Hi bro, may I know the difference between this air compressor and the white compressor?
Hi! I am not sure what do you mean, but I assume you are talking about specific model? I Couldn't find this "White" brand, would you mind specifying exact model so I could maybe order one for test? Cheers!
@@StaticModel that's kkmoon airbrush.
Is it enough for painting 20 model cars if I use it carefully with taking breaks?
It will work, but be prepared it might not be a nicest experience:)
Do you think it would be good for painting fishing lures
Should do just fine, unless you are painting big batches for sale - than you should invest in more powerful compressor.
@@StaticModel ok, because I will only be painting at most 3 lures in a sitting, which are each about 3 inches long
I want to paint a 1/48 scale m4a3e8. Should i get this?
Only you know the answer:) If you are thinkerer and don't expect everything just to work magically by itself this kit will do the job. But first you must to learn how to use it correctly:)
hello thanks for such a great review. just one question there is another airbrush w compressor from nasedal which one do u recommend .
I can't really recommend something, I have tested only this one.
@@StaticModel thanks for such an awesome review im buyin it
Would this airbrush be suitable for applying paint on car scratches? And eventually lacquer?
Automotive paint require high pressure and spray guns that generate fine paint mist while also delivering high amount of medium in a single aerosol cloud. In short words it will work but it will easily distinguishable, just like touch up markers.

@@StaticModel what about if you spray more layers?
@@royal_gambit_e4 it will work, but you will have to experiment with thinning ratios and pressure..Also of you own a car, there is a big chance you have a compressor or a tire pump. So you can get only a airbrush without compressor and use tire as an air source. More on that you will learn from other RUclipsrs.
@@StaticModel good idea
thanks
Can you install a pressure regulator to this compressor?
It already has a pressure adjustment valve, instaling pressure regulator will make no sense making this kit overly expensive.
@@StaticModel Thank You, I will check
Can this airbrush be connected to a regular compressor?
Yes.
is it for paper to make backround art ?
It will work just fine for that application.
I use this compressor with my iwata Neo
Do you dilute your paint before using? And if so what do you use to dilute it?
I’m looking to use this exact compressor for nails
@@DrDreuhh i use coresponding thinners, usually same brand as paint. I believe nail artists use special inks for nails that are pre thinned. Base color comes with more traditional nail polish but than all the intriguing details and transitions are made with thin inks and stencils:)
I have a simpler compressor it only has one port and that's the outflow is that okay?
If it works for You than its okay :)
Perhaps this could be the thing that finally allows me to restore the Chrome on my g1 transformers.
Can't really guide you on this... Chrome look is hard to achieve even with professional airbrushes... But if you go with it, Alclad black primmer + chrome color is your best bet.
do you recommend this to paint my Initial D model kits?
It depends on your skill level. If you are a beginner - no.
Is this a good for a beginner for model kits.
I wouldn't call it good nor recommended, but it will work.
What brand paint is used on this airbrush?
All tests were made with Tamiya acrylic paints. For primmer test badger primmer was used.
could you buy this kit and replace the airbrush with a better one to avoid the problems
Airbrush is fine in this kit, compressor is what you would want to replace.
Which machine I take for t-shirt?
Not this one for sure, see other options in the description of this video. Go for compressor with air tank. All links are affiliate links.
Thank you :)
I have the exact same model. Brought it last year, and was going to use it now for the first time. I got it to do alternative reborn dolls. I noticed that in my set I don't have the moisture trap.... is it important?! Can my machine work without? I'm once again blocked from finishing a doll.
Do the moisture trap working?
Yes, in my area moisture trap is actually catching quite good amount of water.
They are crap I had two when I started and they both died within two months. Get a compressor with a tank.
What caused this? Using it for too long till it's very hot? Or is it something else?
lol
if i want to go one step further ..... what should i go for? any airbrush that you could recommend, just a bit more powerful?
thanks.
and thanks for this video XD
Compressor with tank AS186 and H&S Ultra airbrush.
I got the same one pot the gun doesn't let the paint go, only air
If thats dual action you have to pull trigger for paint, push trigger for air.
Yeah pull the lever back
Mine doesn't even spray water, does that mean its broke?
Have you tried pulling on trigger also? You have to press down for air and pull back for paint.
Tbh I got it because it's so cheap that even if I will only use it to get the feel for airbrushing I won't need to be mad for throwing it away ... And mine came with a water trap and everything and those parts will be useable eben if I change the compressor later on :)
This is a good portable stuff, it’s personal.
lol true
Can u use on trainers
What do you mean?
Can we use that on Fur?
It will depend from type of your paint. Airbrush system itself has almost no limitation for surfaces it can be used on.
Bought this exact system and it doesn’t work
Thought it would be good for a beginner but now I think I will just buy a top of the line system
Would this be suitable for a spitfire
If you are talking about painting aircraft model "Spitfire", it will work, but it may be difficult to achieve crisp camouflage pattern if you are beginner.
@@StaticModel I am a beginner yes and I am talking abt the aircraft, if I use some kind of tac or tape would that help
GOOD
I LIKE IT
Can it be used for cake?!?
Yes, but for cake you need clear air hose and food industry certified airbrush.
How much is his prize, brother?
Sorry I am not able to answer this question, cause I have not paid for it. It should cost around 60$, anything more than that is not worth it.
Can you use it for shoes ??
Its mostly about type of paint you are going to use. Should be fine for light usage and simple sneaker customizing.
@@StaticModel yeah I seen it said no arylic paint n that’s the type of paint I need to start spraying on my shoes 🤦🏾♂️ and it saiyd in Amazon that the paint has to be thin thin if u ending u using it
Do you think it's good enough for painting shfiguarts DBZ figures? They are about 13 cm to 17cm
Great review btw
If you are building lots of them airbrush kit is helpful, but you can achieve great results only with paintbrush. If you think about high fidelity color blending and shading you will need airbrush a tier higher...
@@StaticModel thanks my friend
Would this be good for paining rc body's
Rc body paint tend to have flexible additives, those increase paint viscosity and thickness. That's why rc body paint require more air pressure than this compressor can deliver. Short answer - no.
@@StaticModel thank you buddy seen as u know more then just a yes or no answer if I was to use automotive paint and thiners would it be possible then or still to thick for the pressure of this and one last thing do u have one u would recommend that isn't a crazy price
@@ogdizzle155 this one is more of a "arts and crafts" item and not a tool you can rely on when going for nice finish. While airbrush is decent, air pressure is way to low. For rc bodies, canvas airbrush drawings, touchup painting in real cars I wouldn't go lower than AS196 compressor and airbrush of your choice. If noise is not a problem, than invest in quality airbrush and get powerful household compressor...
@@StaticModel thank you dude really appreciate the help I will look in to the compressor you suggested see what I can make happen
where is the music from?

It seems you're not thinning down your paints & primers before putting it into the airbrush. That's something you should do. Always thin your paints & primers before airbrushing them. That way the compressor won't have such a hard time.
I intentionally used pre thinned "airbrush friendly" paint that is marketed specifically for use right from the bottle, because that is what beginners usually go for. If you are experienced and willing to play with thinning ratios, it's most likely you also want precise pressure control and another compressor kit.
