I have been to every major and nicer city in Poland, if I were to recommend the top 10 most interesting places in Poland to visit, these would be:
    1. Wrocław,
    2. Tricity (Gdansk, Sopot, Gdynia + Malbork castle),
    3. Krakow (+ Wieliczka salt mine + Auschwitz concentration camp),
    4. Warsaw,
    5. Toruń (+Chelmno),
    6. Zamosc + Lublin,
    7. Sandomierz + Kazimierz Dolny.
    8. Poznan + Gniezno,
    9. Giżycko and Mazury
    10. Zakopane

There is around 38 mln Poles living in Poland and around 20 mln living abroad for decades and centuries. Poles scattered all over the world are called Polonia. It is estimated that in the USA Polonia equals 10 mln people. Poles are joking that the biggest Polish city is Warsaw (1,8 mln) and the second biggest is Chicago (1,5 mln Poles).
This is not well known fact but Poles are a very pro USA society: strong common values like love of freedom, faith in God; common heroes like Kościuszko or Pułaski; implemented deep into Polish soul and character story about American dream.
In my opinion Poles, altogether with British and Irish people, are the most pro american nation in the world and this is important trait of Polish national character.
So if Americans think where in the world they can have honest friends, they should think: Poland.

August 11-17th is Pierogi Fest in Krakow. I love me some pierogi, but the ones they have there... Are just out of this world. If polish cuisine would taste like this on average it could easily compete for the title of the best cuisine in the world. As per what to visit the 1st time: the standard is pretty uncontested, as its Warsaw, Krakow, Gdansk, and Wroclaw. Thats when it comes to major cities, but if you wanna go off the beaten path a bit then Sandomierz, Torun, Kazimierz nad wisla, and Zamosc. They're the most picturesque. Lodz, "the Polish Detroit" is super interesting, but not pretty at all. Still, its fun and different from most of what you can see in Europe. As per nature: (if its summertime) 1000% Mazury (the lake country), then Pieniny, Bieszczady, and the Tatry mountains.

Best pierogi are made at home and they are filled with love :)
My aunt and my cousin make great pierogi filled with beaf or veal, boiled and topped with fried onion and bacon. If there is one meal I could eat for the rest of my life it is pierogi made by my aunt or my cousin (she is a daughter of my aunt so no wonder she make the same, great pierogi).

I will explain to you what is happening with Poland very carefully. Poland is the same country as any other in Europe, but slightly different. Culture and food are the result of the fact that for centuries we have had a different thought identity and 26 nationalities that created this thought. You can find similar food in other countries, but it will taste different. Watch the movie "303 Squadron" where pilots from Poland, Switzerland, the Czech Republic, Russia and even Germany fought in defense of England. But they were all Poles.

the best pierogi are dumplings with cabbage and mushrooms in a 50/50 ratio, the most sour cabbage, so sour that it makes your face twist, plus forest mushrooms from your strange family member who picks them in the forest and is still alive, because edible mushrooms differ from poisonous ones in the smallest details (some foxes or other forest animals are probably pissing on it. but we pretend that they don't do it) cooked and then fried, served with fried onion. That's why in Poland gifts are opened on December 24, because you don't know if you'll live to see tomorrow eating the best dumplings.

Best dumplings are with cooked cabbage (or cooked "sauerkraut" as the google translator says) i like them fried with onion. Not so many people talks about those btw. And that one restaurant he was in called "konspira" you could kinda translate that like "conspiracy" which would fit communist era cause there was no freedom so everything had to be "talked" or "made in" conspiracy i guess

But Poland has never been a communist country - it is very much an Instagram version of history. Poland had never adopted communism. And, by the way, Wrocław is one of the most beautiful cities in Poland and in entire Europe.

Who told you that and what is your definition of communism? It was a centrally controlled economy with one ruling party, so it was a communist state in my book. There were some remnants of free market, for example small farms were not nationalised, and artisans had their own businesses. I remember my grandma had small tailor shop, so it wasn't maybe as bad as some other eastern block countries
You can argue that people were not commies in their hearts, but the country was.

This means that the government controls the economy and makes decisions about how goods and services are produced and distributed.
Communism is a more radical form of socialism in which there is no private property and all means of production are commonly owned. This means that there is no government or state, and the economy is controlled by the people themselves.

Socjalizm to system polityczny i gospodarczy, w którym środki produkcji są własnością społeczną, a nie prywatną.
