It’s so refreshing to hear some positive feedback on TRON! TRON is easily my favorite ride at Walt Disney World right now, and as a TRON apologist myself this coaster checks all my boxes. From the elaborate lighting, to the bumpin’ soundtrack, and the coaster’s thrill and immersion factor I am always satisfied after a ride through The Grid. One of Disney’s best feats of Imagineering thus far!
Hopefully some day Disney decides to make the Western River Expedition. Some day we will be travelling through thunder mesa in our boats enjoying the beautiful scenery of the land.
I really wish they would make a ride like that, but unfortunately that will never happen unless there were some HUGE changes to the way Disney currently operates in regard to its parks and building new attractions. The only possible way that a Western River Expedition ride would ever be made these days is if a Western River Expedition live-action movie starring The Rock was made first. And even then, that ride would likely just be a cheap, projection screen-filled mess that totally misses the mark on what it could have been. Disney just doesn't build new, original concept rides anymore, and they have all but given up on using any creative stories for new attractions coming from the imagineers themselves. Gone are the days of attractions with no direct movie tie-ins. No Haunted Mansions. No Pirates of the Caribbeans. No Big Thunders or Space Mountains. None of that. Every single attraction must now be tied to some already-existing Disney movie IP, and that is a complete shame. I would love more than anything to be able to see Disney imagineering allowed to do their jobs and give us spectacular original rides again. I can't even recall what ride at the parks is the most recent original concept ride that came directly from Imagineering, but pretty much every single new attraction these days simply MUST have a movie tie-in, no matter the quality of the movie. I would truly love to see a full on, 100% innovative and perfectly original Western River Expedition ride be made at the parks, but realistically that will never happen, unfortunately.
One of the things I missed about yearly Disney trips that I didn't really notice till I seen the beginning of this video was that anticipation in the motel room. I used to stay at this Tropicana Inn on Harbour Blvd nearly right across the entrance. Used to stay on the balcony at dusk/night time and just soak it in. Thanks for your videos. It's been almost 10 years since I've been to Disneyland. I miss that magic.
Yup, when the 1 minute 1 second intro of this video is longer than the actual "thrill" part of the "thrill ride", feels bad man. I can only imagine when the virtual queue part ends of this ride and having a 2 hour wait only to only be on the ride for 2 minutes more than half of that is the slow leaving/returning to the station... ouch.
I rode it 3 times on my recent trip and it was incredible, didn't notice that it was short because we had so much fun putting our hands up. My only complaint was that I wanted a bigger drop (because drop rides are my favorite).
I used to be super into tron when there was the disney xd cartoon on air as a kid. Seeing my modern interest line up with nostalgic ones is insane. I hate how it looks during the day though it’s barely tron during the day imo 😬
I rode it a few times during cast previews as the guest of a CM. As a coaster, it’s much more “fun” than it is “thrilling,” but there’s nothing wrong with that, since that makes it more appealing to the average guest who may not want to ride a monster coaster. It’s pretty short, but that’s not really unusual for coasters, especially launch coasters, so I don’t see a big issue there. The theming is fantastic, and the lighting at night is amazing. It’s a great addition to Tomorrowland, and MK as a whole.
Airtime Thrills' "By The Numbers" videos are good for perspective on ride lengths--he figures out how long the "prime ride time" on roller coasters is by removing the time spent going up lift hills and waiting on brakes. It's not uncommon for this to be under a minute on even some very large coasters. Of course, Disney is a bit special in that even their lift hills will be dressed up to function as a kind of dark-ride attraction, which means that just by being a launch coaster, this one cuts out some of that. But I think many Disney fans are comparing this to dark rides, which are inherently a much longer experience... and to the Guardians coaster, which is literally the longest indoor coaster ever built.
@@benisjammin626 it’s the fastest ride at the park- it launches at like 70. It’s just so smooth you don’t realize how fast it’s going. When you watch it from under the dome you can see how fast it actually is.
@@deadyguy2512 disagree. It's the only launch in that park that's ever felt "real"...now, it doesn't compare to Hulk or Velocicoaster, but, it's the best Disney has right now. GotG is the next best one for sure.
My biggest issue with this ride was the length. Everything new that opened has had long ride times over the last five years. I mission rewind was a longggg ride. But tron felt so so short and it leaves you feel like you just got jipped out of a ride
I discovered halfway through the ride you don't really need to lean into the light-cycle -- it was hurting my ribs, but I found the back support did allow me to lean up. I also rode it a couple days after Guardians for the first time, which left a stronger impression.
The look on your face as you were walking up to your first ride and you heard the Magic Kingdom's train whistle for the first time in years is what pure, natural, inward joy looks like. You are correct, however, in that TRON is better than Guardians. mostly because I'm not sick for an hour after riding it, but similar to you, I've been wanting to ride a lightcycle since 1982 and could have powered the ride by the wattage of my smile.
10:53 I feel you SO HARD with this. I also grew up with tron legacy and tron has been one of my biggest interests since it came out... I am so excited to finally get to ride it! Awesome video about it too!!
I was at Disney in February so I wasn’t able to go on, but it was still so cool to look at Tron. I was in line for the Barnstormer at nighttime, and I had the most breathtaking view of Tron. And ever since I’ve really wanted to go on.
I was a cast member in Tomorrowland when the ride was opening up so I got to ride it a ton during cast previews! Probably up to 20 times by now. Absolutely adore TRON Lightcycle / RUN and the TRON movies as a whole ❤️🏍️
im absolutely not a thrill ride person, but the only thing i thought when i got off tron was “i want to do that about a million more times” it’s short but that launch absolutely packs a punch, i was lucky to ride first row.
Yes! These are my thoughts exactly! I LOVE Tron Lightcycle Run too. I just dont get everyone's complaints about it (aside from ride length, because of course I wish it was longer too). Soooo happy you love it too.
At Disneyland in Anaheim, CA, when Tomorrowland is refurbished in addition to Heathrow Pod Tour on the above ground platform, removing the old and unused observatron from the top pylon (as opposed to the old Peoplemover & Rocked Rods), they could add Tron Coaster somewhere in Tomorrowland.
I actually got to ride this on Thursday this week! It was really, really cool. It might even be one of my new favorite rides. Sure the ride is really short, but I still really enjoyed it. I haven’t even watched any of the Tron movies, but the ride was still really amazing
I'm glad I also finally got a chance to ride it. As a big fan of Daft Punk's music and Tron I'm glad some of the soundtrack was in there. Wish I'd rode it at night since it looks much cooler then but its still such a great ride.
We were there beginning of May and we were able to ride it 3 times over the course of our stay. I was really excited that they have the regular seats in the back because it gave my 10 year old daughter the courage to ride it. She tried out the test bike outside the ride and it made her nervous with how it locked you in. When we said she could sit in a regular seat, she was super excited to go. I agree on the length being a little disappointing but as you said, the whole ride experience is amazing.

Loved riding it 10 times in a row during the D23 previews. Not sure if it would be as amazing after waiting in line a few hours. Loved riding it night. The colors are incredible. I would have given you all my night time footage too.
Did anybody else notice the blood curdling screams during the entire ride I had to rewind the section at least three times almost laughing how someone could keep that same scream the entire ride sounding like bloody murder omg 😱
Tron looks great, will ride this next fall. But for me, my top three rollercoasters are The Matterhorn at Disneyland, Ghostrider at Knotts and Cyclone at Coney Island. They can't be beat.
wow, the theming is on point for that attraction. Awesome. :) I wish I liked riding rollercoasters because this would be on my list!! ill admire it from a respectful and awestruck distance.
When we went I rode Tron 3 times. It is a very good ride, but is very short. There are no slowdowns like most newer Disney coasters have. Night time is definitely the time to ride and see the attraction. Would have been better if it was double the length. Guardians of the Galaxy is a phenomenal ride, but I do not get any motion sickness.
I heard that the lore of the ride was that Sam Flynn set up the grid for visitors to race in, but I noticed on Team Orange that RINZLER (TRON's enslaved name) is included. TRON got his mind back at the end of the air battle in Legacy. Why would RINZLER still exist???
Regarding Cosmic Rewind: I also love coasters but I bet I'd have the same problem which is moving sideways fast when your eyes do not have something stationary to focus on. It causes your eye muscles to go into overdrive and if it goes on for a while it causes a very unpleasant queasiness. I can't look out the side car window at close trees whipping past for very long. Closing your eyes can help, or hold out your hand and focus on your finger. A small post it or sticker on the side window of a car for your eye to land on can also prevent this.
Would've been faster going behind Main Street on the right hand-side if they had it open. During a fireworks showing usually is when is it opened up from being a backstage area to a themed funnel exit for the park to help improve efficiency during park dump.
Coasters terrify me, so my wife rode it (twice) without me. She liked it a lot, but she enjoyed Guardians more. (I did go on Guardians and it was probably the most terrifying thing I’ve ever experienced. Didn’t get sick though!)
I doubt Tron is coming to Disneyland it just requires so much space and they’d have to get rid of so much in Tomorrowland to fit it. Glad you liked it, I feel the same way about Guardians growing up with those movies so I enjoy that ride the most even though I can get a little dizzy afterward
It's easier to get a virtual cue after 1pm sometimes there are spaces open for hours and if you time it right you will get a nighttime run. Once I entered MK after 3 and still got into a 8pm ride.
Wild About Safety directed by Disney veteran Dave Bossert- author of The House of the Future: Walt Disney, MIT, and Monsanto’s Vision of Tomorrow. Cover art by me 😄
Unfortunatley I’ve seen so much about how the ride vehicle for tron is super inaccessible for people who are even slightly overweight, thus forcing them to use the wheelchair accessible car (and there isn’t one on every series of cars). I also worry about being in that position while riding a roller coaster, I feel like it would be quite painful idk. I haven’t seen tron so maybe I would feel less negatively about this ride if I had but I really am not excited for another indoor rollercoaster in the dark, especially right after cosmos rewind came out.
Excellent review of Troy Life Cycle Run. I hope to ride someday. On an unrelated note, how about a video about Crazy Larry? WHo’s he? The used spacecraft dealer who advertised during the 1990’s Space Mountain queue.
I went for the soft opening and it was ok. The bike position is a fun gimmick but when it’s stripped away you have a short indoor coaster that took years to build. Cosmic rewind is far better imo.
Instead of Offhanders how about you call your fans "Lefties" as we are less common. Just an offhand idea I had. Loved the intro btw. Saw TRON: Legacy at midnight on opening night at the AMC at Downtown Disney after attending the ElecTRONica event at DCA.
@@presidentfrog4683 I'm just cool that way. Or it could just have something to do with the bit at the end where he plugs patreon and mentions patrons sometimes get early access? Sometimes they're drafts but if it's the whole video he just has them as unlisted and sends the link out early.

I actually went and looked up the Wild About Safety videos on RUclips once when I was feeling nostalgic about the old days.
Cover art by me 😄
I am definitely a fan of tron and can’t wait to ride this.
I stayed in the exact room at Pop Century. I swear to God life is crazy. I love you off hand😎
I find it odd people complain how short Tron Lightcycle Run is when Rock N Roller Coaster is just as short.
Im so exited im going in to weeks i didnt realize it would open so close to before i go
Excellent video. Really enjoy your Disney Parks content.
Just road it a couple of days ago....mind blown!
Great video Dallon! I'm a pass holder, and I've yet to ride it. I'm buying an individual lightning lane next time at M/K!!
Legendary Dalin peoplemover footage
I really think you need to give the OG movie another chance. Also, for that kind of wait-time, I'd expect more than a minute-and-a-half. =\
How on earth did I not see you!? I was not only there on opening day but was IN THE SAME HOTEL TOO!!!
The outside does look really nice and exciting, but it does not make me say "oh i have to go and spend my vacation there!"
Loved the opening of this video!!
You need a 360 camera! hahah The Tron digitization room felt more like a digitization wall. LOL
We rode it on like day four or something and quite liked it.
How did you comment 2 days ago on a minute old video?
@@presidentfrog4683 Doug has been compromised, anomaly control team incoming shortly
@@presidentfrog4683 I'm just cool that way. Or it could just have something to do with the bit at the end where he plugs patreon and mentions patrons sometimes get early access? Sometimes they're drafts but if it's the whole video he just has them as unlisted and sends the link out early.
@@FleshGolem420 I’ve been a patron for years and I just learned this.
YES!!! What a perfect opening to the video! 👊😁👍
11:08 choo choo!
19:05 "Power" must be Disney speak for "shorter"
I Love Tron TOO
Let's go!!! Finally early to a video. Tron was a good time. I was actually there a few weeks ago.
What do you mean finally open? It’s been open ?
I did the soft open back in march got to ride it twice in one day very lucky
I too, love NORT.
