But the most important is that you gave me courage to start, because I thought I had not talent enough and now I’m starting to be proud of my work. Next step I buy your books. Thanks again
As a furniture designer/maker in Boston, this takes me out of my normal practice and makes me see things from a different perspective. No pun intended! Thanks!
...between reading and training with the book(s); getting time to start the course online (paid but not done); the others youtube gifts and now these 18 minutes of pure drool I´m almost married to you, David :) More seriously, thank you for you inspiration and teaching skills, you´re one of the responsibles to get me sketch again with hand and arm, after so many years in making draws with only one finger (the mouse finger) Congrats from Portugal
Thanks David. I really appreciated this video. The information about where the sun is at midday and how the shadows will fall in the various seasons is really interesting, and I will look at buildings in a whole new "light" now. I loved Prague when I visited there in 1967... Whoever this sketch was for, I envy them, it's stunning. What a beautiful home they will have.
Awesome video David. I appreciate going through each step and explaining the thought process behind each one. I also appreciate the explanation on sketching a realistic perspective versus a distorted view. I am taking your “Sketch like an Architect” course and can say this has been my favorite video so far!

Hi Juan, As mentioned in the first minute (0:50), the app is Morpholio Trace - check the link in the description ;) I have the iPad 2018. Cheers, David
Hi David, would like to know what did you use for the animated video [motion graphics] ? Was it Morpholio Trace or something else like Ae. Please share with use.
Hi David, just curios what kind of screen protector do you have on your tablet? paperlike? Just curious, if your using a similar media like a matt finish, how does it affect your viewing of actual media on the tablet?
Hi William, yes I do use Paperlike. The truth is, as the protector has textured surface, it reduces the sharpness of the screen a tiny bit. And I mean it, very little so the difference is barely noticable. On the flip side, it also significantly reduces glare and undesired screen reflections. If you use your ipad mainly for note-taking and drawing, then Paperlike is still a no-brainer. If you use it only for watching movies or gaming, then you probably don't need it.
David, just to confirm, if you remove the paperlike screen protector, there will be no scratches on the actual screen? I only ask because I'm a first time user and this is not a glass protector..i.e. more like a film.
@@user-xc4eh4kp9n correct! The paperlike screen protector might get scratches from the use over time and that's why you also receive 2 pieces of it in the package, so you can remove the first one and put there the second one. But of course, the scratches are only on the protector itself, not the screen. I believe you can learn more details here: paperlike.com/sketch

Hi Erika, I'm not the best person to answer technical specs of iPads but I have an old iPad 2018 with the Apple pencil 1st gen and it works just fine. I just think you should avoid any 'mini' versions of the iPad and you'll be fine ;) Feel free to reach out directly to Morpholio (here on YT or on Instagram, or email) and they'll be happy to help you further.
Why do some of the lines come out wavy? Is this communication error between the app and digitizer or did you just choose to throw down a rough/wavy line? You can choose to have a straight diagonal line correct? Really liking what I am seeing with this app save for this issue. I have seen it on other videos as well.
Hi Gary, Thanks for the question - the line squiggle or waviness is intentional and on purpose. It adds imperfection to the sketch and makes it look more 'sketchy' and human (as opposed to straight CAD lines). But of course, you can draw absolutely straight lines in any direction in this app as well.
Hello Priyanka - then I think my Perspective Drawing Made Easy workshop is perfect for you. Learn more about it here: sketchlikeanarchitect.teachable.com/p/perspective-drawing-workshop
pespective is a science, part of geometry... as an artist (painter or visual in general) you can survive with few basic rules- vanishing points mostly. as an architect you need to dive in it- for that you will need an excellent command of descriptive geometry first.
hi.. in your presentation you could have gone step further and explain how to draw in scale in order for your perspective to be perfect... one ov the vertical lines- one that touches horizont will give you a real measurements, from there its easy. it is good advice to use your plan as an underlay while you are developing your perspective (the one with 60 degree field of view). that is how you will sketch with confidence and everything will be spot on. however- nice work.
