What amazes me is that Ajahn Brahm can carry on talking for ever and stick to the topic. Very interesting and inspiring speeches. Great way to mediate and relax.
    Thank you Ajahn Brahm.

Ajahn Brahm, I always appreciate your talks - I follow the Vaisnava faith, but your ability to express deep philosophy in simple everyday language, is so inspiring. This talk in particular I found very helpful, - to be honest, it is what I already KNOW - but sometimes we get so carried away by the material energy, we forget, Thank you

This is a beautiful talk. Brings up small things so easily forgotten. "Don't delay speaking out, Apologize, say I love you, etc. The day will come when its too late."
We always need to be reminded lest we miss the chance.

Watching this again in 2019. Ajahn Brahm and Therevada makes sense and are are timeless. Negative energy is potential energy. Omiget=1.

To see that the "instability" of existence is the natural order of life is truly freeing. Frees me from all my stinking attachments, from my constant wanting to make things " better".

All of a sudden I see it. I've listened to this talk many times and this time, I understand what Ajahn Brahm is saying, how we came from NOTHING and eventually going back to "NO THING". There is no contradiction between science and Buddhism. One explains the other. The other reveals what is explained. The sought and the seeker canceling each other out. Amazing.

About the rip tide story, if you find yourself caught, swim parallel to the shore (with the shore at your side, either side) until you are out of the current. Rip tides are very strong, but not very wide. You don't need to wait until you are far from shore to do this.

My 10 prayers on my knees will now end:
Dear God (God used to signify something I strongly believe in, which is self to help others)..... Help me to look for and use better systems, to make a positive contribution to the world we live in :)

We live in a causal universe however... everything manifest has a cause... even the 'unmanifest'... (negative energy], one cannot exist without the other.. - beginning/ end... manifest / unmanifest
    Cause/Effect --
    Nothing comes from nothing.
This world is temporary - but not illusionary.
There is a cause of all causes...- and there He is..

I know that you wrote this a year ago, but you'd said while watching the buddist video on change, he referenced a glass breaking, & u had a glass break in ur kitchen. Well, I thought it was odd, but as he was walking about it, I looked on my bedroom floor, which is hard, and a glass was there, broken as well. I think one of my dogs knocked it off a dresser while I wasn't in the room. I hadn't seen it earlier because between the bed and nightstand.you had same experience, so I thought I'd share.

Not to be nit-picky, because you are right. However, since the universe is neutral, it gives the opportunity to choose, and this is inherently positive. Therefore, in a sense, the universe is slightly more positive than negative.

Dear Ajahn Brahm, years ago, I was looking to rent a room from a woman who works at the Catholic church nearby. The room was adjacent to her room. On the wall of the room she was renting out to me, there was a picture of a beautiful woman lying down with flowers in her hair as if sleeping. I thought it might be a picture of a saint. It turned out, it is a picture of the woman who used to live in that room. No, I did not want to live there.

@shiftplusone80 Ajahn might be referring to the density parameter. Go to wikipedia and look for this entry called "Ultimate fate of the universe" and there is a section titled "density parameter". Googling for "density parameter" will also point you to current theories and experimental results on what omega might actually be.

    • @tiliniwijeratne1678
      @tiliniwijeratne1678 7 лет назад +6

I think, every time they feel lonely they also know that it is merely a state of mind which is not something permanent. When you understand something is not permanent you dont get attached to it! Hence get over it.

Would it be any more of a miracle to come to this planet twice then to come to this planet once? Are two miracles more miraculous that one miracle? Being born once is a miracle. Science can not explain the Universe or understand the miracle of life and death. Science is great for meaning, money, sex, power, and fame. What does science say about feelings, love, compassion, selflessness, and the Universe? Science does not understand love. Buddhism addresses the things science can not address.

I don't understand why, then, the buddhas doesn't change. Why keep the exact same lifestyle for years versus adapting? Or have they adapted. I have no idea.

I understand now why he chose celibacy and to live far, far away from the 'lunatics' (=the rest of us Lol). Even with all this wisdom, once you engage in any type of close relationship with another lunatic (=human being), you life becomes a total mess and a forever 'fight' , even with your children (no wonder he chose not to have any!). That fight is for your sanity, the ability not to be affected by the human nature, which is impossible if you are constantly surrounded with it. We can mediate as much as we want, but as long as we live in this crazy society and follow its idiotic rules, we can only fool ourselves we reached the kind of sanity he is talking about...If it was possible to live in a reg. society and still feel the calmness and sanity, these monks would be living among us and not far away without any of the bad influences from the outside world!!
