Your enthusiasm for bfs inspired me to model my channel and my style of fishing matt. I “power fish” bfs setups pretty much exclusively now. I love catching ALOT of fish when I go out and this has allowed me to do that. Not only that I’ve caught more 5-8 lb largemouth on bfs than I ever did conventional fishing and there’s not a whole lot more exciting thing in bass fishing than fighting a big fish on light tackle. For example my last trip out I had a 2.75” gan craft glide bait, a mini Texas rig, a 1/16 oz jig, and a 1/4 oz crankbait tied on. And I caught a ton of numbers and a 6 lber on the little glidebait. And I also get way more surprise catches of other species fishing the little stuff! I saw your buyers guide vid in December 2021 and have never looked back 🤘🏽
@@clintonbruning I think you'd be shocked by the Karashi! I've been out of state for 6 months so I had no clue on patterns. I went out for the first time since I came back 2 days ago. I couldn't get bit on anything. I switched to the Karashi, on a Dobyns Sierra Ultra Finesse and Curado BFS. Started slayin em as soon as the Karashi came out. 8 inches of water, straight retrieve with tiny twitches every 6-7 feet. They'd hit on the twitch or right after when it was sinking a slight bit. Karashi's are expensive (for a tiny little bait) but well worth it.
i live up here in indiana and bfs is absolutely a game changer around the smaller fish, as a 6-7lber or larger are pretty rare and uncommon here. You guys got me into it and its been a blast, tiny texas rigs, small swimbaits, and micro cranks, it's all so much fun on light tackle, but being able to use a casting settup makes all the difference in efficiency and accuracy. love it.
I personally love the jet boat vids, as I'm sure most of us do. Not everyone can afford a big rigged out glass boat and a set up like this is more in line with what most people (including myself) can afford to do. Also goes to prove you don't need all that fancy stuff to go out and have a blast. I think you should get in contact with the guys at TBN and have them extend the top deck a bit! I always feel like you're gonna slip off that damn thing! Great video guys.
I like taking my duck boat (with direct drive, no impeller and straight shaft) into skinny skinny water. I was mashing on the Largemouth two days ago in 8 inches of water with the Karashi. I came back to the Carolina's after Momma's passing and was clueless as I'd been in the Ozarks for 6 months. Norman is known for spotted bass, but every skinny water fish I caught on the Karashi was a Largemouth (super silvery with zero markings). I don't like telling everyone about the Karashi, but since we're giving it up, I got all my bites with a slow straight retrieve and then little 6 inch pops thrown in every 6-7 feet. They'd hit it on the pop or the slight drop afterwards. Happy Sunday Matt!
Hey Matt I've been caught up in TB,gezz it seems 10 years already, but when you say ,let's try to catch some fish, it still makes me smile, your an incredible fisherman, well done ,long live king tactical
Matt, you've got me digging through my forgotten tackle stashes. For BFS I am using an old All-Star Shrimp Tail Special 7' rod and a CU-100- DSV with ceramic spool bearings, 8# FC. Have a lot of Rick Clunn 0.5 crankbaits, small Spro shallow CB's, etc. Going out today to see if I can have a little fun. Keep the great videos coming!
I have a similar setup I have a bps extreme finnesse baitcaster on a 7/6 bps inshore extreme rod with 8lb floro which I have been fishing for about 30 years. It is a blast with them small crankbaits and I also caught my pb last March which weighted 8lbs in a small public pond here in NJ
🖤 what you said about boats, kayaks, bank fishing! All of fishing success has been out of that blue tin boat you seen me in (or a roundabout/kayak) and I never feel held back, instead I’ve felt it has allowed me to fish stuff that others couldn’t…… That said I am adding a bass cat Pantera 2 to my fleet soon 🤫
I went down the big bait rabbit hole a few years ago and I love fishing big baits, but the gear often outmatches the fish and for me, that takes some of the fun of fishing out of it. Now catching 5lbers on 6lb line is always fun no matter what. Great video guys
I have just recently bought a zypher baitcaster and have been looking at all kinds of baits . I truly enjoy watching you guys especially when you are fishing BFD.
Great advice Matt! Be happy with what you have to fish with. I enjoy small creeks over our big busy heavily pressured waters. There’s something to be said about wading, kayaks, canoes etc. Here in MO we have some of the most beautiful ozark waters you can imagine. Things are so expensive we need to get back to basics. Everyone have fishing possible this year!
Matt, I used to love to run backwater streams to get away from the crowd. Never found the mother lode but had no competition and piece and quiet. What a great day even though the backwater didn't work out. You have convinced me of BFS so there goes another $400 not including lures. Your videos are so enjoyable and we appreciate TB.
Matt, I love the jet boat! I noticed in the last couple of videos that you added a graph to the front. Would love to hear about the graph and mount. BFS is definitely the future. It harkens back to my childhood when we had small set ups and fished super small baits. We used to throw a Bill Norman quarterback and slayed them.
Strong believer in if not catching. At least it’s super enjoyable exploring unknown water areas. Wildlife and underwater is so beautiful to see and watch.
@@tacticalbassin I can't wait either! I've made a diy prototype, and caught fish on it. Do you guys have any recommendations for a company that molds crankbaits?

Be cool to see a video about getting I to tournament fishing I'd really love to fish some tournaments this year even if they are just smaller tourneys maybe go over how to find them especially for us bank anglers and basic rules etc.
I love the spro chadshad.!! Just bought a new swimbait rod before watching this video. I have a problem and may need help.? Nah… I’m good, I can quit buying rods…reels…. And tackle anytime I want…
How have you liked that SPROxKGB Chad Shad? I know some people are hardcore and spend the $200+ on the original, but for those of us that can't bring themselves to spend that much or can't afford it in general, does the $60 collab work just as well?

Another great video! I was hoping i could get an answer to a quick question; recently caught my first chatterbait fish at Folsom Lake (miss you guys out here!). It was on a minimax using a kitech 3.5 paddle tail as a trailer. I know you're a Spunk Shad guy, so my question is what size spunk shad would you put in the mini max? Would the 3.5 be too small?
man stop talking about that little Karashi. its my secret weapon. I can't have everyone know all about it. LOL kidding (not kidding) another good Video Thanks.
Could you guys explain the reasoning to throw a bait that's 1.5oz heavier than than rod recommendation is? I've seen pros recently go to lighter and smaller rods to throw big swimbaits but always thought the rod wouldn't be able to handle all that.
Which situations or techniques do you consider it an advantage to use spinning over BFS? My spinning arsenal keeps shrinking as I apply BFS to more and more presentations. The main advantages to spinning that still exist are line capacity, drag refinement, and possibly the way the rod and line can be held in your finger tips for better sensitivity. Again, just wondering where you still consider spinning gear a must over BFS.
Spinning has had a lot more time to be refined. We've already arrived at a place where you can choose BFS for every finesse application but we're still some years of rod development away from having "perfect rods" for dropshot, spybait, hair jig, etc. Spinning still has a ton of niche applications covered much better than BFS... but I think they'll be equal in the future.
@@tacticalbassin - yeppers for sure. I used to catch so many shallow water fish of all species erratically twitching/popping that bait. Another overlooked bait is the Beetle Spin type lure, so easy to use and readily available, I just change out the blade to matching Mepps silver French blades as the silver content flashes more white and cuts through dirty and dark water better, along with replacing the factory jighead with a screw lock ~ 1/8 Ned head and thread on simple 2-3" single tail grubs. This is such great cold water early season bait for anything that swims, from panfish to bass to gar and is tons of fun on light spinning and BFS. Once again, excellent work Matt and hopefully we can meet one of these days as I am in Middle Tennessee as well.
