Maybe in the next couple years I might give it a try. I love throwing glides and swimbaits and pitching/flipping is my favorite and how I catch the majority of my fish. Besides I have a few rods picked out I have to buy before I can start looking at anything else. It’s a sickness for sure. 😩

I have the Phenix Classic BFS rod and it's a poor man's Megabass P5 Siglett. They look almost identical and have the same lure rating. Really loving it. Got it paired with an Aldaberan BFS reel.
I lucked into a school of wipers that had pushed a ball of shad into a small creek arm. I spent 6 hours catching them on a whopper plopper 65. That bait got retired after that, but it was awesome.

Great video as always. Would live to see a session where you caught on the BFS system. I started last year with a small craw bait 15lb braid and a 6'6 baitcasting rod and fished finnesse pitching and flipping in South Africa. Great fun and caught my PB on that finnesse presentation

Gone full circle. I started out Trout fishing then creek smallmouth fishing all with ultra light spinning gear. Now it seems with all the BFS that it is going right back to where I started.
Ive got two BFS serups. I imported my first from Japan a few years ago for trout in small streams because I was curious. Soon bought a second for my bass boat. Im definitely probably going to pick up a Curado BFS next, but I really wish they’d drop a Bantam version. My Bantam is by far my favorite baitcaster. I have a couple already.
Topwater pencils are awesome. My go-to is the Duo Realis Pencil 65. But there's smaller topwater like the Duo Tetra works Yurapen and the Jackall chubby pencil 55. Despite their sizes, I've caugh 3lb average fishes on them.
Sorry but the megabass pop-x ain’t a bfs lure, It’s just the smaller pop-max. The megabass “baby pop-x” is the true bfs lure. They just launched the whole bfs line up last weekend so now you can get a X-80 jr BFS, X-70 BFS, Baby PopX BFS, Dog-X jr Co-Ayu BFS, Griffon SRX BFS and Griffon MRX BFS. So all the bfs guys should be excited!! I just started throwing smaller lures and it’s so much fun!! Excellent video Tim!👍🏻🤙🏻

Caught a 5.9 lb bass on a Popx on a Catskills NY pond. Killer lure. But I threw it on a spinner, very tempted to jump on the bfs bandwagon cause I am much more accurate with a baitcaster.
I understand the reason for BFS But I believe Randy Blaukat (the intuitive and bass pro legend) along with myself have been throwing finesse lures on spin cast my whole life Rapala 5 deep runner for instance is how old and has remained a go to in ruff times getting a limit Spin cast will have you getting up to 10 more yards on a cast or more
Great video.. just wondering what happens to the soft plastics when they are lost in the lakes/ponds. I imagine there is a lot of rubbery plastic at the bottom of most lakes these days. Someone needs to develop something that helps to retrieve lost baits.. and lures too. Love the videos.. and fishing.. was just wondering about with the explosion of fishing lures and baits in the last 10 years.. that means a lot of trashed baits.. hopefully people are gathering them and disposing of them correctly.
Back in the day, OG BFS all the way back to the mid 2000s includes lots of specialized aftermarket BFS spools from Yumeya, Avail, KTF, ZPI...while today there are even more from Rays and Roro. Also need to add Evergreen JT95 (mag finesse walker) , Yellow Magic poppers, lots of small tiny JDM topwaters for sure. Don't forget about 1/8 oz buzzbaits and the venerable floating Rapalas and floating tiny tail spins like the OG baby Torpedo and like lures. Good stuff.
Talk about O.G I have a eagle claw Featherlite 4ftc10 in pistol grip rod with a bps pro finnesse baitcaster that is great for the baby torpedo and spook

Agreed, the Grand Siglett and the small Siglett also. Sometimes the small Siglett outfishes the GS by a longshot. Not just bass, but big fat bluegills love em too. Catching big ol' stud Bluegill on BFS is a riot!
Megabass has now released the baby pop X BFS. It is smaller than the Baby pop X very finesse. I fish a heavily pressured spot and they have been chewing the pop X BFS. They also have a new dog x jr BFS the I have had similar results with
I throw it on a 6'10" med zodias or Expride. I've landed a ton of fish in my local lakes on the 77.7 since last year spring.Even the dog-x jr is cool with great action. They're not bfs just finesse.
I started with the SLX mgl 70 since first released and caught literally 100s of fish on them with zero problems. Eventually I got the curado 70mgl and l9ve it even more.

Use like to see a true comparison with casting distances from spinning reels to BFS set ups. With everything being identical. Same lures, line, rod blanks. See what actually casts further?

@@maxcole3930 I don't have a so-called "Bait Finesse System" yet, and I do generally prefer baitcasting over spinning. I'm just not sure I want to buy a reel with only a 45-50 yard line capacity of 8 lb. line.
I’ve never seem to have an issue. No more than anything else with treble hooks. They just have the lite subtle action that Tim was talking about. I use the tiny torpedo in bluegill color on the small mouth in my area.

Storm Chug Bugs, Baby Chug Bugs and the Smithwick Devils Horse became my favorite topwaters till this day. Will have to get some of these modern finesse poppers ! For sure ! Billy Westmoreland was ahead of his time and also a visionary. Little poppers do fish Big !

What's your price point? Kastking has rods and reels that are like $80 a piece. Lews has BFS rods for $150. ARK just released a BFS reel for $160. Nako released a BFS reel for $180. The reels aren't that cheap, but you can find some budget rods.
Ha! Don't get rid of those just yet... BFS is awesome but we're still at its forefront. There's are 1000s of spinning rods and only a couple dozen BFS models. That's going to change in time but it will still be a while before BFS rods meet all the technique specific needs.
I bought my first BFS rod/reel about 3-4 weeks ago. Tested in local pond at sunrise. Caught a chunky bass after only a few casts with a baby lipless and could "send it" (as Tim/Matt say) a crazy distance. Since then it's been 105F min daily. Zero rain. Zero clouds. Insane UV. N. Texas area. Can't wait for 95F. Will feel like AC compared to the bs right now.
What are the benefits of throwing these finesse baits on a BFS bait cast equipment? I’m able to fish finesse baits on spinning equipment, no problem. In fact I see no reason for bait cast equipment in Bass fishing, period. I figure if salt water guys catch 100 lb Tarpon on spinning equipment with 4000 size reel, no problem, why is a baitcaster needed for a 10-15 lb Bass? Maybe a video about all the benefits of bait caster equipment.
It's not only that. I use 9' 8000 size spinning reel for 50-100lb rays all the time. Using baitbasters for freshwater is just better all around. No line twist and there is just more power techniques you can use on a baitcaster. They're lighter and smoother and more high end depending on what you get. Comparing tarpon to Shark to bass to catfish is just different techniques and better ways to catch fish overall.
Was really hoping Shimano would bring over the SLX BFS this year, I like my Zephyr but I much prefer my curado BFS. Glad to see you’re still talking about that Dobyns 700, I caught a 20lb carp on it not too long ago that i snagged by accident. That was an adventure 😂
It's funny you say that because we've had many complaints the last 2 weeks that we cater too much to swimbait fishing 😂 It's a constant battle to please everyone. Perhaps you missed all the recent swimbait and big fish content? Maybe not... wither way we do what we can to help everyone.

That showerblows 77 was killer in the phoenix area last year. This year has really sucked for topwater for some reason.

It's the same reel, you can swap parts between the two.
