not entirely true. The MH added Lofting and the P added the DL. Only the Navy used the 7P as they were the only ones who added the datalink required to their planes like the F-18. neither the DL and Lofting would make they compete in any way to an ER.

The 7f was actually such a blessing to get buffed because it brings the F4-J back to fight all of the F5 and the MIG spam at top tier. F4S as well because I have a friend who recently bought it and was pissed at the sheer frustration of losing a lock for half a second and your missile just exploding without any chance to re-lock. I agree with much of what everyone else is saying. As a sim player I’ve grown so accustomed to the TWS of other aircraft like the F-16, F-14 and Mirage 2k so it’s difficult for me to see past that lack of information
As a sim player, the f15 is good... but i really miss having tws. And the 9m and r73 especially usually ends dogfights in 1 or 2 turns. Makes me miss the extra long mig29 vs f14 rate fights i used to love
What i really find useful about this 7f “buff” is that it does not explode instantly. So if you loose lock few seconds before it actually hits target it kinds of follow its path and if enemy does not pay extra attention to it, beside of standard notching, and keep its traverse path aim7f actually hits. Before this update the instant i loose target lock aim7f goes rogue. Maybe it is something bad on my side, it is just observation from perspective of my gameplay. Swagpuppy
DL does make the r-27(e)r's more capable of flying through the air and then gaining speed or just getting closer to the target while you find a juicy target to lock on to then absolutely demolish it
yepp, orbital strike with 9Ms is absolutely amazing. Did it with the 16C and now do it with the 15A. I still think the 16C is better at it, because it's faster and has 2 more 9Ms, but the 15A is pretty good at it too, and it's probably the best way to play it. The sparrows are an afterthought, and if I could I would swap them for more 9Ms in a heart beat.
after getting the f16c after the f15a, i thought i was gonna much prefer the f16c, but the f15a just feels a lot more reactive to input especially at low speeds saxoyoshi
Su 27 is definitely the best aircraft rn. 7M's just arent competetive against ER's with the massive difference in speed and manouvreabilty. 9M's are on par with the R73 with the smokeless motor but the IRCCM is just worse. The best part of the F15 is the flight model but the Su-27's missiles are just entirely overwhelming.
I've liked the F-16C more from what I've played, personally, though I don't have either jet spaded - I do have the 9Ms and most peeformance upgrades on each, though. terrorize
The F-15 is definitely the plane with the best flight performance all around. Unfortunately for it, the mediocre radar, no HMD and 2nd best radar missiles means it really lags when it comes to weaponry. The Vulcan is the best cannon right now, but bringing that to a R-73 fight really isn't conducive to your long term health. The Su-27s, M4K and Gripens just have a lot more flexibility and freedom when it comes to engagements. .sqib

The biggest problem is that the ER accelerates considerably quicker than the Aim-7M, and holds lock better. There are zero positives to using an Aim-7 over the ER. Good balance would actually have two missiles that each have their own positives, more or less like the R-73 / Aim-9M. chrizzyhd

I really i dont have a lot to say since i play with the big 3 nations on top tier, im really enjoying the su27 but since they added a lot of top tier stuff on the last update i havent had the time to play with the f15, something that really bothers me tho is the aim9L as the stock missiles on US top tier vs the stock R73, but other than that i really enjoy playing the game rn notzera1
My question is why is the r27er in the game and not the aim-7p when they (both missiles) came out in 1987. Also why do top tier USSR jets get 1980's missiles and the US is stuck with 1950-70's tech?
I know on the F14B and f-16c you can switch between search modes between PD or normal. The f15a for some reason can not do this. It will just stay in PD mode and switch types? This just me?
If you initially lock with standard SRC/ACM, as in non-PD, you can actually switch between TRK PD and TRK. If you initially lock with SRC/ACM PD, SRC PD HDN or SRC PDV HDN, it will only allow switching between TRK PD and TRK PD HDN modes. I would suggest doing the initial lock with SRC standard then switching ASAP in order to maintain the lock for high altitudes. At low altitudes, they're probably just going to fly 2m off of the ground anyway and explode the missile.
I'll take the F-15 over the 27 in a lot of situations. Just running 9M's purely tends to work a fair bit better than hoping sparrows act normally. Espinas
i think we can be happy that the R27er Datalink only works half. The missile does not need the Radarlock of the mothership, a secound plane can take over and home the missile in, while the plane wich launched the missile can go defence and break an incomming AIM7

Bro I'm so annoyed, I used to play Xbox but don't anymore and have been trying to convert my account over to PC but gaijan hasn't been doing transfers for seemingly a million years so I don't get some of the sales, I can't access the marketplace, and I can't do a bunch of other stuff just because gaijan is to lazy to actually help people out
the 9m is leagues better than the r73 imo. I feel like unless they are fired less than 1km away, the irccm doesnt work that well and I can just flare it easily. the 9m requires you to make a turn that you probably didnt want to make and bleed a lot of speed while you're at it if you want a chance at dodging it. Honestly I think the aim120s are not going to change the game too much. We already have had the competitors to the Aim-120s in the game, the R-27ER and ET. The Aim-120s are just going to be ETs with RWR. I think it will level the playing field and maybe people won't just fly head on into the death cloud. War Thunder needs a quality of life update desperately but I don't think they will ever do anything, or give us a new game mode. .wingwong

I charted, for a friend, the "quickest" way to grind to the F-15A. It's ultimately the USAAF line starting with the P-36G *and* the US attacker line starting with the A-36. Because rank VIII requires 5 vehicles from rank VII, the most efficient way to do it looks to be the two F4 Phantom II and then the A-10 and both A-7 aircraft. Which is a shame because the USN prop fighters "feel" more attuned to what War Thunder Air RB matches require. That, and both F4 Phantom II's feel wildly non-competitive. The F4E simply doesn't have, even with SARH, all-aspect missiles. The 9J isn't as useful as the 9G. The USAAF line is such a struggle. birthday_truck

No, sparrows have their own FOV, if the enemy can be seen by the missile, it can still re-acquire the target

I have been using f15 for a while. Using the 'Orbital Strike' tactic with AIM 9M is really effective. Just gotta becareful with 27ER tho.

Honestly I think the aim120s are not going to change the game too much. We already have had the competitors to the Aim-120s in the game, the R-27ER and ET.
