Because your hair was dry. That is why they try to tell you to get your hair wet with water before you get in the pool so the chemicals won't absorb into your dry hair
Best thing to do is mix pure purple shampoo with loads of conditioner and put it on after you've washed your hair.. Leave it in for about half hour then wash out like normal.. After 2-3 times in a week your hair is so blonde and all brass has gone! This is what I do :D
Hey Morgan, Thank you for posting this video. Two days ago I bleached my hair and it came out great except for some brassy streaks throughout it. I ordered some Wella T18 toner but it didn't get here and I needed a way to fix my hair before the week starts. I am a user of purple shampoo and the brand you use but 5 to 10 minutes really didn't do a whole lot so I came to RUclips to get help and found your video. I did my hair exactly they way you did yours and left it on one hour. ( Dry hair creates way better results ) I rinsed it out in lukewarm water , used a little normal shampoo and then did a conditioning mask for 20 minutes. I dried my hair and it looks beautiful ! No more brassy streaks and just a beautiful platinum blonde. I won't even need to use the toner right away when it comes in the mail this Tuesday. So thank you again ! I am a happy blonde again. :)
When I had blonde hair what I did to tone it was mix some lavender dye I used artic fox girls night, I mixed that into conditioner and would let that sit in my hair while I showered and it toned it to a pretty white color!
I regularly leave my blue shampoo in for 3 hours - lathered and set. It takes away the brass on the leftover bleached parts, tones my natural mousey regrowth and blend in the huge amount of silver I have. At most, I deep condition afterwards. No dryness, no damage.
@@verklapper the blue is for toning out the orange in natural brunette hair shades . It takes my hair to an ashy colour which blends with my silver and mousy hair. No pearly or orange, it just looks natural. xx
Fanola no yellow shampoo is THE BEST. I can not recommend that enough! Purple shampoo isn't necessarily damaging, but it is drying. So that's why you only use it when you start going brassy and not every time you shampoo.

Have you tried Matrix SoSilver. Its really good. A size of quarter, rubbed on both hands, then put into wet hair, bring to lather, and leave on five min. Only use 1 or 2 times a week, as purple shampoos can be drying. Use a good deep conditioner. To counter the drying. :)
Fanola does that to me. It goes without saying that it does an amazing job at getting rid of brassiness, but I can't keep it from turning purple! I've tried diluting it with plain shampoo, I've tried just doing a quick rinse with it, I can't find the sweet spot! lol

HELLO. Before use the purple shampoo on my dry hair dry. i apply a small amount of coconut oil all over, then the shampoo, cover with a shower cap and leave it for 1 hour(sometimes longer if i am busy around the house) wash the shampoo and add an small amount of purple conditioner, the coconut oil protects your hair from the drying effect of the shampoo and gives a nice shine, have been doing this for a couple of years twice a month and the results are great

I have a keratin 'anti yellow' spray / leave in conditioner. It works great. It needs to be add in dry hair and it also makes your hair smooth and easy to brush. It makes your hair soft. It's handy to apply after using silver shampoo.
Finola no Yellow shampoo and conditioner are amazing i left the purple shampoo on for 30 mins applied to damp hair and it turned my hair white/silver and also left violet/purple/blue tones to it i absolutely love how it turned out ❤

I use fanola & matrix brass off it’s a blue shampoo.. it helps fight the orange tones bc I’m naturally brunette. I find the blue better it doesn’t turn my hair purple as much as fanola.
Hi!!!! So I wanted to share this since you asked....but you should start purple shampoo at the root and ignore the last 2 inches of hair since its the most processed and split. You let the shampoo sit for 10 minutes then drag he shampoo through to the ends as it only takes 1-2 minutes to treat the ends :)
Purple shampoo dries out your hair and I think it would’ve worked better if your hair was wet. I have a darker purple shampoo and I use regular shampoo then purple shampoo, then conditioner. I've used a few purple shampoos and that brand is the cheapest and it really dries your hair out. I really like L'Oreal purple shampoo and conditioner. It also has a nice smell and a deeper purple. Make sure you wash your hands well after applying it and any you may have gotten on your skin. If you have a little on your skin it should wash off in the shower as long as you kind of wipe up prayer and make sure you don't have any that got on the floor or counters. If you do peroxide will help get the purple stain up.

I'm a brunette and I love Fanola No Orange Shampoo. The conditioner is not great. But the shampoo is so potent and makes my hair so beautifully ashey. Some downsides is it makes hair super super dry so wash it out super well and condition. Also, it does stain the finger nails blue. But I can usually scrub them with soap.
Hi idk if you already know but purple shampoo isn’t damaging to leave on for an hour, however it can dry out your hair a lot so make sure to use hair oil and hair masks 🥺❤️

Sometimes washing your hair with a clarifying shampoo before will help your hair absorb the color! But I think your purple shampoo wasn’t very pigmented like you said lol maybe try another brand to get a more drastic result. It still looked good though! ❤️

I will tell u that your hair will keep braking an so suggestion an it works with time ! Get a jar of mayonaise an put it on your hair an then wrap your hair in plastic an then wrap your hair in a hot damp towel then a reg dry towel leave on head for 45 min an yes u will have to wash out an repeat more then once then put on a Moisturizing Protean pack u can buy at walmart . You do the Mayo treatment every other week an u will see a big difference! It is the one thing that stops the breakage !!!! I went to Beauty College an i melted my hair when i was 16 as i thought two months was long enough after i dyed my hair to do a perm , well i wasn't an my hair felt like gum . So i cut off my hair an did mayo treatment an didnt use the curling iron all the time an i used the moisturize protean Pack .And after doing it every other week for months my hair was great an reg cutting of my hair . I went to beauty college at 22 an my Teacher said it was the only thing that stopped breakage ! So try it . And remember to read ingredients in that shampoo ! Be careful of phosphate an other ingredients .God bless
Different brands are more purple pigmented.... I use the Generic brand purple shampoo (it’s generic for the shimmering lights) from Sally’s and it’s more of a deep purple and tones super well!! Just thought you could try that.
I get a Ash blonde, mix with 10 vol slap on head for 5 mins and it works a treat. do it in shower so you can wash it off as soon as you see it working. if your really blonde add shampoo to it.
Highly recommend L’Oréal elvive it’s like $3-$4, but I’ve tried damn near EVERY purple shampoo there is and NOTHING COMPARES to that one. Like it will stain your hands purple after putting it in. It’s legit I promise!!! I use it as a toner as well after I dye my roots

Yes, noticeable difference. I think putting the shower cap on to let the natural heat help lift w/out baking it helped. Very noticeable difference. Like the Sturges Bike Week Shirt.....lol
Purple shampoo doesn’t lift so the shower cap wouldn’t have helped the process, and neither would baking, the shower cap just kept her hair off her shoulders. :) Toner and purple shampoo both do not lift, bleach does and some colour removers do.

Thanks, the end result was a nice color. I too think the more lavender shade of your shampoo was good. Brad Mondo says it does damage your hair leaving shampoo on for hours (but maybe as you did just one hour is not so bad.) He says it would be better to use purple conditioner. For me it just seems like such a waste of product using the shampoo as a coating rather than lathering it up daily (as I do.)
Trying using WEN Bella Spirit. I am 75% white except for the back which is that slate color. I put it on for 45mins.all over my dry clean hair.It' very thick but liquid. Cover with a plastic bag , wait and wash. Nothin else needed. could use any of his conditions just because it's a lovely experience.The color is a very soft lavender blue. Comments are -Is that your color? Slightly tones darker back hair.Fades over weeks. Wen is a world of it's own. Only one Chaz.
oh man, I was using that brand for awhile since it was the only thing the Walmart near campus had in stock at the time. I switched to using Generic's Purple Shampoo and the Loreal Elvive purple shampoo, and it made a world of difference from whatever that brand had been doing before. I think works ok, you definitley dont get the same amount of toning power as other purple shampoos though!

Only thing is you should use... shimmer lights by clariol ... You can get at Sally's and has WAY WAY more deposit in it... Her hair would have been PAPER WHITE In 30 min... Have been using it for 20 years... And please note it also depends on how light you are and what your coming from as far as natural hair vs colored hair... Yes your lighting all this out of your hair but some dyes can leave behind some color molecules that can actually be reactivated...black and red dyes are the worst for this... If your doing this from a natural hair that's been lightened it's all about how light you get the hair... But definitely worth EVERYONE to try cause it's just shampoo so NO DAMAGE... Plus if you don't like it just use regular shampoo over it and should bring you back to what you had... Hope that helps... Good luck you guys and remember have fun with it.... It's only hair....😁😁😁😁
Try Alto Bella Claypac in purple. Is is contains natural clay that will condition your hair and tone at the same time. If hair is really brassy, it will tone it. I had an instance where it really grabbed lavender in my overly dry ends, but it felt great afterward due to the conditioning (and it looked kinda cool.)

I heard that using blue to cure brassiness, aka yellow or orange, can result in greenish hair. You know, like on the color wheel: Orange + blue = green.

Skip the purple shampoos and use a pigmented purple conditioner , life changing . My go to’s are Ice cream no yellow colour mask and b uniq toning purple mask.
Im using milkshake silver shine atm and Lange violet purple toning masque weekly but didn't no to put it on dry hair iv been doing it wet! Does that make a difference? And do you prefer Bold Uniq over Lange products? Needing some advice

It’s hard to say! I would definitely try the purple shampoo, I really recommend fanola or bold uniq purple shampoo. The shampoo definitely won’t be as strong as a toner but it may help!

My hair was an orangy yellowy and after I tried the fanola blue it was a brighter orange also it strips out alot of moisture leaving the hair very dry

My mum is a hair dresser and she lets me put purple shampoo on my dry hair for a hour, she said it’s perfectly safe and it doesn’t ruin my hair 😊

Fanola doesn’t work for everybody. I used it once for 1 minute and my hair was blueish after that.. and my hands too. Too pigmentent.

The most legit purple shampoo I’ve ever used was Kristen Ess. I just used it one time for brassiness and my hair was straight up lavender!

Tammy Alspaugh I recommend toning it with T18 by Wella. Use a 10-20 developer and depending on what the color you’d like about ten-20 minutes.

Sometimes washing your hair with a clarifying shampoo before will help your hair absorb the color! But I think your purple shampoo wasn’t very pigmented like you said lol maybe try another brand to get a more drastic result. It still looked good though! ❤️

I will tell u that your hair will keep braking an so suggestion an it works with time ! Get a jar of mayonaise an put it on your hair an then wrap your hair in plastic an then wrap your hair in a hot damp towel then a reg dry towel leave on head for 45 min an yes u will have to wash out an repeat more then once then put on a Moisturizing Protean pack u can buy at walmart . You do the Mayo treatment every other week an u will see a big difference! It is the one thing that stops the breakage !!!! I went to Beauty College an i melted my hair when i was 16 as i thought two months was long enough after i dyed my hair to do a perm , well i wasn't an my hair felt like gum . So i cut off my hair an did mayo treatment an didnt use the curling iron all the time an i used the moisturize protean Pack .And after doing it every other week for months my hair was great an reg cutting of my hair . I went to beauty college at 22 an my Teacher said it was the only thing that stopped breakage ! So try it . And remember to read ingredients in that shampoo ! Be careful of phosphate an other ingredients .God bless

Different brands are more purple pigmented.... I use the Generic brand purple shampoo (it’s generic for the shimmering lights) from Sally’s and it’s more of a deep purple and tones super well!! Just thought you could try that.
I get a Ash blonde, mix with 10 vol slap on head for 5 mins and it works a treat. do it in shower so you can wash it off as soon as you see it working. if your really blonde add shampoo to it.
You could never leave Fanola in your hair for an hour! The most I can do is 2-3 min. and it already starts to turn lavender.

Highly recommend L’Oréal elvive it’s like $3-$4, but I’ve tried damn near EVERY purple shampoo there is and NOTHING COMPARES to that one. Like it will stain your hands purple after putting it in. It’s legit I promise!!! I use it as a toner as well after I dye my roots

Yes, noticeable difference. I think putting the shower cap on to let the natural heat help lift w/out baking it helped. Very noticeable difference. Like the Sturges Bike Week Shirt.....lol
Purple shampoo doesn’t lift so the shower cap wouldn’t have helped the process, and neither would baking, the shower cap just kept her hair off her shoulders. :) Toner and purple shampoo both do not lift, bleach does and some colour removers do.

Thanks, the end result was a nice color. I too think the more lavender shade of your shampoo was good. Brad Mondo says it does damage your hair leaving shampoo on for hours (but maybe as you did just one hour is not so bad.) He says it would be better to use purple conditioner. For me it just seems like such a waste of product using the shampoo as a coating rather than lathering it up daily (as I do.)
Trying using WEN Bella Spirit. I am 75% white except for the back which is that slate color. I put it on for 45mins.all over my dry clean hair.It' very thick but liquid. Cover with a plastic bag , wait and wash. Nothin else needed. could use any of his conditions just because it's a lovely experience.The color is a very soft lavender blue. Comments are -Is that your color? Slightly tones darker back hair.Fades over weeks. Wen is a world of it's own. Only one Chaz.

oh man, I was using that brand for awhile since it was the only thing the Walmart near campus had in stock at the time. I switched to using Generic's Purple Shampoo and the Loreal Elvive purple shampoo, and it made a world of difference from whatever that brand had been doing before. I think works ok, you definitley dont get the same amount of toning power as other purple shampoos though!

Only thing is you should use... shimmer lights by clariol ... You can get at Sally's and has WAY WAY more deposit in it... Her hair would have been PAPER WHITE In 30 min... Have been using it for 20 years... And please note it also depends on how light you are and what your coming from as far as natural hair vs colored hair... Yes your lighting all this out of your hair but some dyes can leave behind some color molecules that can actually be reactivated...black and red dyes are the worst for this... If your doing this from a natural hair that's been lightened it's all about how light you get the hair... But definitely worth EVERYONE to try cause it's just shampoo so NO DAMAGE... Plus if you don't like it just use regular shampoo over it and should bring you back to what you had... Hope that helps... Good luck you guys and remember have fun with it.... It's only hair....😁😁😁😁
Try Alto Bella Claypac in purple. Is is contains natural clay that will condition your hair and tone at the same time. If hair is really brassy, it will tone it. I had an instance where it really grabbed lavender in my overly dry ends, but it felt great afterward due to the conditioning (and it looked kinda cool.)

An organic option is Kavella Purple Toning Shampoo! They’ve also got Blue for brunettes.
They also have blue and purple conditioner and u can leave that on for a long time and it's actually good for it!!!
I heard that using blue to cure brassiness, aka yellow or orange, can result in greenish hair. You know, like on the color wheel: Orange + blue = green.
Since you are leaving it on your hair long you can also use the purple conditioner. It will not dry it out as much.
Is it weird that I felt like when you were putting the shampoo all over your head, the sound your gloves made could’ve totally been ASMR hahah. I have some purple shampoo from function of beauty and I think it’s pretty good but my all time fav purple shampoo is pravana. 🙌🏼🙌🏼 loved the video!

I was just wondering whether using purple shampoo would tone a level 9 hair (I want to dye my hair pastel pink later on) as that is what I currently have and I don't really want to invest too much in a toner (an also fearing that it won't do anything to my hair). It’s hard to say! I would definitely try the purple shampoo, I really recommend fanola or bold uniq purple shampoo. The shampoo definitely won’t be as strong as a toner but it may help!
