- LOT Trip Report onboard one of their Bombardier Dash 8 from Berlin to Warsaw on a sunny summer morning. Our last flight from Berlin Tegel airport.
A very comfortable flight in this regional turboprop LOT Dash8 from Berlin to Warsaw. We had clear skies all the way to Warsaw, allowing us to see lots of places. Both the departure from Berlin and the approach to Warsaw were just fantastic!

Haha I agree with you! The views of Berlin were amazing! Probably we got some kind of shortcut by ATC due to the low traffic nowadays, and that allowed us to have these sights!

Probably I'll try making some kind of Portuguese tour, flying to Porto, Lisbon, Madeira and Azores.

@@OnBoardHD Of course, you can come to Madeira with any company, then Azores with SATA and they lovely Dash 8-400, and then to Lisbon or Porto with TAP, SATA or Ryanair :)

Great stuff as always!! The left turn after takeoff looks like a very nice ATC short cut as the normal standard instrument departure is a right turn. Fantastic views of Berlin. The big windows and slower climb speed of the Dash compared to jet aircraft was a real advantage here!!! Stay safe.

Yep! Actually, LOT didn't stop doing it during all the event! Something that I really value, as I really think it's just an excuse for cutting costs in other airlines, while the ticket prices remain the same...

Lo primero de todo, quiero darte la enhorabuena por haber llegado tan lejos. Debe ser increíble poder surcar los cielos en un pajaro de esos.
Soy de un pueblo en la sierra de Madrid. Ahlra tengo 14 años pero, desde que era pequeñito, he soñado con poder, algún dia, poder pilotar uno de esos aviones que cada vez que escucho, miro con deseo.

jaja Así es, aunque la verdad nunca hablo de ello en el canal porque no quiero que se relacionen de ningún modo. El canal y mi profesión son trabajos completamente distintos y no relacionados de ningún modo. :)

I’ve never flown on the Dash 8 but I have flown on the ATR and I loved it! Really cool airplane!
I've flown both. I think I would take the ATR if I had to choose... but I really don't know why :D

Wow! Love to fly in this kind of airplane !
It's a very nice experience, however, after a couple of flights on them, you start missing the jets, as they are definitely more comfortable and a lot less noisy!

Hahaha, true !!! But, i would say the Dash8-400 is the big champ for landing gear crashes, there have been a few with the classics but less. ATRs had major problems with in-flight icing. Each plane has its own little problems which have been resolved over the years. I am telling you all this, because I myself am a Dash 8 pilot and it is a machine that is fun to fly, especially with the type of air operation we do !!

Hi OnBoardHD! You should definitely make a trip report from Gdańsk. Not far away from Warsaw and last year it was annouced to be in the top five of world's best medium-size airports (probably best in Europe). I wonder if you can agree with that. Alongside with BUD, LTN and KTW, it is also a very important hub for Wizzair, which serves almost 50% of flights from GDN. Anyway, fantastic trip report as always! Keep up good job! Cheers mate!
Currently, I'm not planning any flight from Gdansk, but it was on them some months ago, until the route to Vienna was cancelled...
Let's see what can be done in 2021, when this pandemic should start do disappear, or at least the restrictions...

I miss Tegel. That was my last pre-pandemic flight (Air Malta flight to Malta). However I have recently resumed flying once again

Good that you show the airports; and now I'm asking myself what the purpose could be of these weird balconies of the Warsaw airport, that are not jet bridges at 18:12 min.

I think I know what you are asking about, even that they don't appear at minute you said hehe
Those "weird balconies" have stairs inside, so when the flights are arriving from Non-Schengen area, passengers are re-directed by those stairs to the upper floor for the passport control.
Also, nowadays, with the ongoing pandemic, all flights are using those stairs to avoid the arriving passengers getting mixed with those already on the departures floor. (You can see it, for example, on my KLM CityHopper flight when we arrive in Warsaw).

The Dash 8 is better than the ATR despite of the ATR's cost per seat being lower than the cost per seat to buy and to fly the Dash 8. There's more room and lower noise in the Dash 8 cabin.

De ahi que el aeropuerto Tegel de Berlín haya cerrado el 9 de Noviembre. Todas las operaciones se han trasladado ya al nuevo Berlín-Brandenburgo.

This was quite an enjoyable report to watch, as I haven't seen much reports of LOTs Dash 8. It looks decent and LOT seems to perform well on this route! Sad TXL closed, was supposed to visit in September but flight changes happened.

I have like 4-5 more LOT flights already recorded and waiting to be edited (it will be 1 per month, aprox), including E170, E195, B737 and another on the Dash8.
LOT service is not bad at all, but except now with the crisis, their prices are usually very high.
Sadly LOT is planning to retire the Dash 8 fleet in next few years. On one hand it does make sense - without them the entire regional fleet will be made of variants of Embraer E-Jet family, and that simplifies maintanenance and cuts the costs. On the other, It will be sad to see them gone.

I flew with lot polish airlines long haul on their 787-9 dreamliner from Warsaw to new York Newark airport

I'm 37, I flew the first time in 2005 and in 100+ flight I boarded on jets only: MD-80, A320, A330, B737, B777. I have yet to fly on a turboprop
Ahh! The MD80! I would love to make aTrip Report in one of them... but seems almost impossible nowadays... I flew once on an MD80, but a lot before I started with the channel, so I only have blurry memories about it...

I prefer Dash 8’s over ATR’s, but maybe only because I have flown on the ATR only once and on the Dash 8 already a few more times. But I also love watching the gear of the Dash 8. :)
Some input:
- in the title I would call it “our last flight from Tegel”, because it can be a bit misleading, as the last flight from Tegel was an Air France A320 to Paris.
- the hashtags are wrong (it says #airbaltic and #a220)

About the title, of course, it doesn't try to be misleading. The point is that I think the channel is enough big and known that people can understand that all titles on the videos refer to the channel itself. Nobody told me anything that the title was misleading for now =/

Isn't the connection operated by Embraer 175? Did you previously knew you gonna fly with Dash Q400?
Routes don't have a fixed airplane model, especially with the current ongoing pandemic. The best the plane adjusts to the number of pax, the best for the airlines economy. Also, the Dash is more fuel-efficient for such a short distance. But yes, probably the usual plane on this route is an Embraer.

Yep, that's exactly the info I got. For cold weather, the Dash8 has some better performance than the ATR. In Spain, for example, where we don't have cold weather apart from 3-4 days a year, we don't have a single Dash8 plane and all regional turboprops are ATR's. However, in central and northern Europe, almost all are Dash8, excluding Finnair, that for some reason chose the ATR.

Cool! Both are great planes, but for cold weather it's said that the Dash 8 has better performances than the ATR :)
I have a Questions. Do you find it easy to film around airport? you now, the terminals, all the people and the airline. Once you step into a plane and then you complete you flight, do you let members of the Cabin crew know that you are going to post a video of that airline. Do you give permission and if approved, then you tell the cabin crew were to go and see that specific video??

I've been filming videos for more than 5 years. I don't care about what people might think or say about it. Inside the plane, I avoid filming passenger's faces and I always avoid filming the crew. Unless they are enough far to not distinguish them, I try to not put any crew on the videos.
I don't ask for any permission. It's not forbidden to record on a plane. Just avoid recording the people. That's all.

What editing software do you use? Filmota9 or an app on your mobile phone? I know that I asked you this question in the commets section on one of your videos. You might come up with the same answer but you may also have changed you style of making videos
I edit all my videos with iMovie.

Dash or ATR? Because these aircrafts are simmiliar, I know, that ATR's are Italian-French ones.
I know also that ATR's were operated by operators based on the polish landmarks until 2015 (they were operated by Eurolot.com), but they are still operating by Czech Airlines (because this operator is based in country, which is a southern neighbor of our country).
What I've read is that in icing conditions, the Dash8 has better performances... other than that, they are very similar, as far as I know. However, the avionics of the ATR 72-600 are far superior. :)
@@OnBoardHD The icing issues have long been rectified with the ATR. The Q400 has an all glass cockpit the older series Q300,Q200 and 100 do not. The Q400 is around 70 knots faster than the ATR in the cruise and holds several climb records in the turbo prop class.
