Because like Shell said, some folks have PTSD from stylists that took 4+ inches when only 1-2 inches were to be trimmed. I've seen a lady silently crying after this happened. Her sister came to pick her up, saw her sister's tears & long hair gone & set it off in that salon after the stylist tried to convince them that she did the client a favor. It was a fly cut, but not what the client wanted.

@Ashley-og9ti That's what I always thought, too. And, I also think sometimes they may see that more needs to be cut; but they should just do what the client asks for and they'll see for themselves if more is needed.

Trimming hair is necessary. I used to never ever trim my hair because I was traumatized as a child . I could never grow it past my chin.
In 2020 I stopped relaxing, braids and weaves. I trimmed my hair and it started growing! Trims are your best friend. Get all that thin hair off and the hair looks so much prettier and thicker too.

You can also pull the hair straight out like you're cutting layers to get hairs that don't come all the way down. This way you can still get all of the split ends without unnecessarily cutting healthy hair.

    • @marzi8456
      @marzi8456 3 месяца назад +2

@@shelltalkshairI didn't say rough :D And actually 80% of us 4c types have literally NO idea what good hair care is because it's so specific. That's why a majority of 4c women's hair is short - not because of genetics, but because of damage and breakage from improper care, maintenance, and styling.
Section hair into 10-12 sections and work on each piece 1 at a time. Use lots of detangler with TONS of slip. Let the detangler soak for 20-30 minutes. I like a detangler with a little fat, tons of slip, and a bit of oil, but I'm sure yours will vary because you're pressing after.
Start detangling with your fingers - I start by separating the sections into smaller individual sections first big, then literally, single strand by single strand (YUP).
Then I go in with my fingers and pretend like it's a comb. I actually finger detangle every step of the way because it's effective and the least damaging - the wash phase, conditioning, phrase and detangling phase.
Then untangle using a detangling brush (my favorite) or a wide tooth comb (I've seen you use it on looser type 4). Nothing else unless it's your fingers. Denman is the OG detangler brand and Unbrush is the new kid on the block.
Wash out the detangler, and gently twist the section to keep it from tangling again.
Lastly, you saying shorter hair will help her maintain her healthy hair better is like saying if you run a mile instead of a marathon, it will be easier.
Teach that baby how to maintain, nourish, and grow out her beautiful hair.
Also, why would you press it if you said it were dry? Dry hair is easily damaged, so her hair was was in a weak state and could've used a week or so of repair. I prepare my hair for heat like a week in advance but that's my scary self, not facts.
Congrats of the successful channel and we ALL should keep learning.

It’s alright her hair isn’t airy nor flowy … it looks a bit stiff and dry . I would have given her a hydration treatment before putting heat to her hair . Then on top of that u went down the shaft of her hair more than one time with the flat iron (u must be using ceramic plates) Idk if u cut it out but i didn’t see u grab in between her hair to cut. I give this a 5 out of 10

Question, if I did silk press once a month but did the whole steaming, deep conditioning hair treatment etc by a professional would I still have heat damage l? Would my hair be healthy and grow?

    Hi,
A silk press should last 12 weeks. But I dont understand how it can last 12 weeks. Doesn't wash out after the first shower?

My hair doesn’t revert it just gets really oily after about a week, that doesn’t happen when I got to the salon, I don’t know what I’m doing wrong
