It's interesting to read about what is considered the Modern Era in the NFL. Depending on who you ask, and what you read, the year can either be 1966 or 1970. In 1966, The NFL and the AFL merged, and the first Super Bowl (AFL-NFL World Championship Game) was played in January of 1967. Some call this the start of the Modern Era. Then there are stories that the NFL - AFL merger happened in 1970, when all 26 teams were split into two conferences of the now named NFL, and this was the start of the Modern Era. This certainly makes it difficult to follow things such as the highest scoring game, when it seems it can be up to interpretation. By the way, the highest scoring football game of any era was when the Chicago Bears beat the Washington Redskins 73 - 0 in 1940. So to me, that is the highest scoring game.
Incorrect about the score. The highest-scoring game overall was a 1966 game between the Washington Redskins and New York Giants, which produced a combined 113 points with a score of 72-41.
What I also don't understand either is Super Bowl 3 (1968 season) was first time the name Super Bowl was even used so are we defining records by 1966, 1968, or 1970. But then in 2019 the "NFL100" was all over the league so I don't get why it's so split & inconsistent Start from 1920, plain simple
In 1966, the AFL and the NFL agreed to merge. The first part of the agreement called for a final game between the two LEAGUES champions (the first Super Bowls) and some inter-league exhibition games (pre-season). The two leagues didn't merge into the AFC/NFC NFL until the 1970 season.
We had 2 known Sun Devils in this compilation. Danny White for the Cowboys was obvious, but I was pleasantly surprised to see Art Malone be a part of the Falcons highest scoring game way back when in 1973.
Saddest thing about the Patriots 2009 game was they took out the starters after the first drive of the 3rd quarter when Brady had 380 yards and 6 TDs, 5 of which came in the 2nd quarter. Had they left the starters in for the entire game they probably would have come close to hitting 100, especially since the Titans QBs went a combined 2-14 for -7 yards, 3 fumbles and 2 INTs, and the RBs and WRs added another 3 fumbles.
At 20:20 it says Miami 726 yards is 2nd most in history but when I Google this to see who is first it says the 2023 Miami Dolphins with 726 yards so wassup wit it

The funniest part about the Dolphins dropping 70 on the Broncos is you literally have to go back to the dinosaur era of football's lifespan to find anything comparable to it. 😂😂
I remember The Bucs 55 win over the Rams, that was a good birthday. Both the Bucs & Seahawks won. The Saints putting 62 on the Colts was the first time I seen an NFL team ever make it pass 59 points
I know it wasn’t the highest points they scored, but the 49ers put up 55 on the Broncos in Super Bowl XXIV just 1:13 into the 4th quarter. If they really wanted to, they could’ve put up 70. But George Seifert’s like, “yeah let’s take our foot off the gas pedal. We don’t want to humiliate them more worse than it already was.” I’m sure that’s what he was saying, and I’m sure that Mike McDaniel was saying the same thing to his team when they were also lighting up the Broncos this past Sunday.
Crazy to think the bills took the starting offense out at half time and still dropped 56 on the dolphins!! Also crazy to think the dolphins are about to drop 80 on the bills this week! We're about to get molly whopped
With all of the rule changes, over half of high scores came recently, with the older scores from the 70s 80s having defensive help to run up the scores...
Its comical how big the shoulder pads were just 20 years ago. I played in the 90s and our pads were so big we couldn't lift our arms over our heads. Imagine trying to catch a pass over your head.
i don't know if the other teams took their foot off the gas but Miami sure did take theirs off and they still scored points with their backups, plus they kneeled without kicking a fieldgoal or go for it lmao insane.
@@TheItalianMafias it was, it hasn't been done since 1966 lmao funny thing is, they could score 80 plus points if they keep playing with the same intensity all game :) the two teams before the dolphins didn't hang a 70 pts on denver ;) lol
With all of the talk about the highest score in the NFL after Miami's 70 - 20 win Sunday, I think what you just mentioned might be what they were talking about, the Super Bowl era. The 72 - 41 score you mentioned comes up as the highest scoring NFL game. But the Chicago Bears beating the Redskins 73 - 0 in 1940 also came up, so I was a little confused. The Bears game was also a Championship game, and I was thinking maybe they were talking about highest regular season game score. But if they are talking Super Bowl era, the Redskins win in 1966 would be the highest for this era.
@@FusionCyborg Technically there were two mergers, though. The first was in 1966, and the AFL - NFL had the World Championship game in January of 1967. The second merger was in 1970, when they divided up the 26 teams of the AFL - NFL into conferences.
Later in the season where the Browns beat the Steelers 51-0, the Steelers beat the Browns with a back up QB, made the playoffs, and beat the Oilers in the Wild Card.
I was at the game when the Bengals beat the Oilers 61 - 7 in 1989. I got free tickets from a season ticket holder because of the weather, it was like 10°.

The Patriots have surrendered 50+ points only one time in franchise history, and that was to the undefeated 1972 Dolphins. The Patriots have not allowed an opponent to score more than 42 points in 30 years.
6:55 If it weren't for Mike Cofer, they could've used Super Bowl XXIV footage but that turd of a kicker we had for YEARS just had to miss an extra point.
You wanna know what's so crazy? The broncos prompted this video because they gave up a total of 10 tds (70 points) being scored on them this past Sunday by the Miami dolphins. And the Miami dolphins are the only franchise to have a perfect season ever. Even crazier? The 2013 broncos, featured on this list, were ranked dead last on this list in terms of the most points teams scored ever in their franchise. Yet they are regarded as the best offense ever statistically. Crazy!
Kind of weird the way they put this together. They weren't discounting postseason because they included the Jags playoff game. And didn't count the original merger in 1966, but instead started with the official merger in 1970...
That Eagles Monday Night Massacre against the Redskins was amazing. They would have scored 70 points with ease if Andy Reid didn't take the foot off the gas in the second half
Wait a second, everyone (including the media) was saying 72 points was the highest...... so any record that was pre-1966 and/or postseason doesn't exist 😒🙄

That's not the bill bellicheat, I mean bellichek way though
At 20:20 it says Miami 726 yards is 2nd most in history but when I Google this to see who is first it says the 2023 Miami Dolphins with 726 yards so wassup wit it
Packers had 2 games where they scored 55. The one not listed was a 55-7 win over Tennessee on 12/23/2012
There are so many games left off here it’s unbelievable
They wanted to show mercy. The titans/oilers are on here plenty of times
7:27 He’s gonna go in WHAT sir??? Lol
High Score In NFL History Dallas Cowboys 59 Points Beat San Francisco 49ers 14 In 1980 Thanks For Uploading
Honorable Mention- 1989 San Francisco 49rs scored 55 points in Super Bowl XXIV which is still a Super Bowl record .
It's wild seeing the background in that Colts game @9:58 . Can't really see many bleachers. It's all trees. Like these dudes were playing in a park at a family reunion 🤣🤣. So cool to see that though.
Yea that 51-0 makes me understand why we beat up on the browns every year , that was beyond embarrassing 😭💯
The Bengals when the Houston Oilers exist: "So you have chosen death"
Some one is Anti-Dallas, not showing any of the numerous times they scored over 50, including 56 against washington in 2022 and 54 against Indy in 2021
I rememeber that Houston game where we dropped 57 on the titans. The only highlight of what was a terrible season for us.
Edit: Not to be that guy, but it wasn't 52-10. It was 52-20.
2017 texans could've been something with Watson for the full season :( but he showed his capability in 2018 and 19 for y'all
@@vikramarora6434tbh Watson wasn’t ready for playoffs at all mind set was celebrating while losing to the colts
@@ghoste94 That game sucked. He did well in the bills & chiefs games even with that 24-0 lead evaporating in 10 minutes.
@@HTJason_S12 idk man I felt if Watson really wanted to win he would’ve argued with bill to keep the pedal going but that’s just my take I’ve seen qbs call their own plays. Bills game he did well enough to hold the lead but no matter what I will always say Watson choked while having Hopkins as his wr and had a decent defense. The same way we shitted on shaub is the same way I’ll shit on Watson.
The funniest part about the Dolphins dropping 70 on the Broncos is you literally have to go back to the dinosaur era of football's lifespan to find anything comparable to it. 😂😂
LoL... Then Dolphins get smashed and gashed for 48 a week later. Can you say Broncos suck?
The funniest part is, a week later Bills hold them to 20 and gash Flipper for 48. They had to cheat to get to 70. 😆
Video suggestion... Highest scoring games by season in the modern era.
Good suggestion.
With all of the rule changes, over half of high scores came recently, with the older scores from the 70s 80s having defensive help to run up the scores...
Just me, or were the Falcons on the wrong side of a disproportionate number of these games?
I love this channel ❤
Its comical how big the shoulder pads were just 20 years ago. I played in the 90s and our pads were so big we couldn't lift our arms over our heads. Imagine trying to catch a pass over your head.
Yo what did he say at 7:25 ??? Lmao that can’t be what I heard
Always nice to see throwback post a video
Classic panther highlights i love it🖤💙
0:15 Hard work pays off. Dreams come true. Bad times don't last. But BAD GUYS do!
@@prestinhurshberry8417Did you see it?
That Miami Dolphins game that scored 70 points was just incredible!!
i don't know if the other teams took their foot off the gas but Miami sure did take theirs off and they still scored points with their backups, plus they kneeled without kicking a fieldgoal or go for it lmao insane.
It wasn’t that incredible to beat a weak ass broncos though
Absolutely Incredible Indeed
@@TheItalianMafias it was, it hasn't been done since 1966 lmao funny thing is, they could score 80 plus points if they keep playing with the same intensity all game :) the two teams before the dolphins didn't hang a 70 pts on denver ;) lol
@@ivespoken8902 no it’s not if it was the bills then yeah but the broncos nah they weren’t good at all that’s why I said that wasn’t even impressive
Video was made because of the recent feat of our MIAMI DOLPHINS!!! I just wish they got one more dang touchdown for the record.
Fuck the Dolphins. They will get their comeuppance. Their defense is still shoddy. Wait until the Chiefs light them up in Germany.
No chill for denver bro i feel bad😭
3:15 side note: the panthers still haven’t recovered from this game
Patriots 59-0 is legendary. Highest victory margin.
Thanks To Tom Brady The Goat🐐
If you mean “Modern era” as in Super Bowl era, Washington beat the Giants 72-41 in 1966. So they have the record.
I'm pretty sure Modern era refers to 1970-present (Post AFL-NFL merger era as it is also known) in this video
@@FusionCyborg Technically there were two mergers, though. The first was in 1966, and the AFL - NFL had the World Championship game in January of 1967.
The second merger was in 1970, when they divided up the 26 teams of the AFL - NFL into conferences.
17:30 the exsistance of this name is the only thing I came out of this video caring about.
Both of the Chiefs highest scoring games in franchise history didn’t include Mahomes, they’ve always had good running backs
hey ya all jesus loves you! Hope that news makes your day better have a good one!
3:08 Both of these teams missed the playoffs. I find that so endlessly funny
I like how Miami has more blowouts in this vid while also having a 70 piece
Later in the season where the Browns beat the Steelers 51-0, the Steelers beat the Browns with a back up QB, made the playoffs, and beat the Oilers in the Wild Card.
Smitty played a huge part in the Panthers' 52 point game! :) :) :)
Bengals twice to score 61 points against the same team, the Oilers. Wow.
I was at the game when the Bengals beat the Oilers 61 - 7 in 1989. I got free tickets from a season ticket holder because of the weather, it was like 10°.
Anyone else a child and laughed at the name Dick Shiner?
Rusty Kuntz
Kinda crazy that both times Chiefs scored 56 didn’t include a game with Patrick Mahomes.
We all knew "Monday Night Massacre" was on this list lol and "Kurt Vs Rodgers".....but who can forget "Patriot slaughter of Titans" game, "Ravens Opening Massacre" was awesome but damn Dolphins "70point" will live forever
This video got outdated thanks to the Las Vegas Raiders dumping 63 points on the LA Chargers, who then fired Brandon Staley.
Crazy!
I believe the bills scored 58 points in a game a long time ago.
Such a cool lateral play at 10:06 !!
12:30 We can change that now, new record for Raiders Franchise 63-21 to Chargers week 15 2023
Redskins be like: we scored 72
The Bears be like: We scored 73.
What da hell
But wasn't in regular season like the real stuff
Kind of weird the way they put this together. They weren't discounting postseason because they included the Jags playoff game. And didn't count the original merger in 1966, but instead started with the official merger in 1970...
We live in Denver and wow! 70 points, they’re still talking about that crazy score here on the sports radio channel!
My grandpa Dave hampton was the running for the falcons . I need to call him
raider’s highest is now 63
Now Raiders put up 63 against the chargers
Pretty funny how several teams have 2 games with the same score
Yeah patriots in 2009 and 2012
I dont think they ever planned on making this video lol
That Eagles Monday Night Massacre against the Redskins was amazing. They would have scored 70 points with ease if Andy Reid didn't take the foot off the gas in the second half
Your Videos 📷 Never Disappoint Me NFL Throwback And Keep Up The Great Work.
Denver Broncos: exist
Miami Dolphins: …and I took that personally.
Definitely not the Rams squad I expected to see on here.
The Packers and Lions achieving their most scored points against the Bears is just sad.
A surprising number of the teams on the wrong ends of these blowouts made the playoffs.
Wait a second, everyone (including the media) was saying 72 points was the highest...... so any record that was pre-1966 and/or postseason doesn't exist 😒🙄
I predict the records going to be beaten this year!
By who? Vs who?
@@bluescale8626 cowboys will break it against hmmm rams maybe
@Lightninboltyf if they could only put 16 against the cardinals I highly doubt it..maybe they should've tried to break the record week 1 when they dropped 40 on the Giants.
