    Art won the match and got his confidence back. Legitimately, though, because Patrick got him in 'the zone' with his reveal. Tashi's plan worked so she was happy. And Patrick took joy in the defeat because he likes the killer side of Art that never comes out usually.

      I agree. I believe this was the fire he needed and most likely won his final grand slam and retires on top. Pat most likely ages out of tennis and finally goes back to his rich family

      i read it as they were both infatuated with each other, patrick somewhat knew it and wanted him, but art didn't and needed that explicit guidance to show him his feelings towards patrick. when they kiss with tashi, patrick leans into art a few times, and when she pushes them together its like she was never there

      Not only was he a late bloomer but it's implied and stated he doesn't know what he wants and isn't honest with himself. How long has he been over Tennis? Why is he mad at Pat for years when he's the one who got off with his gf.
      He moved from one relationship where he's being dominated by pat to another, where he's dominated by Tashi.
      There's a lot of unsolved issues with him, but by the end he gets it and advertises what he wants. And Patrick reciprocates by catching and supporting him.

    Tashi clearly didn’t love either of them, but she loved the power she had over them.
    Throughout the whole movie, both guys have said “I love you” to her and she never says it back.
    All she loves his tennis and being a tennis superstar. Had she not gotten injuries, she wouldn’t have married Art.
    Deep down, Art has always known Tashi only married him to live vicariously through him.. because he got the tennis career. However, you can tell he was hoping she’d eventually love him for him.
    The movie was great.
    Realistically, after the game, Art would’ve asked Tashi for a divorce, finally accepting that his wife never loved him.
    He and Patrick will repair their friendship and retire from tennis. Perhaps both will open a tennis camp together or something. Perhaps Patrick will be an ESPN commentator… something like that.
    Tashi will then turn her ambitions onto their daughter and become an unbearable helicopter mom. Their daughter will eventually have a breakdown, with her mom’s persistence driving her to possibly get harmed.
    Tashi will immediately feel guilty and realize how her behavior destroyed her marriage, destroyed Art & Pat’s friendship, and has trained her relationship with her daughter. She’ll realize not only does she not have tennis, but no longer has the people who loved her.

      @TamESQ 6 месяцев назад +4

      @@counterfeitt Darling… I’m pretty sure you’re of (at least) average intelligence and know what the word “ambiguous” means, right?
      The end is ambiguous and one can derive many different meanings from the ending. Art & Patrick embrace, signaling reconciliation… I agree with that. However, the entire film indicates that Art loved Tashi more than she ever loved him… towards the end, she sleeps with Patrick and says she’ll leave him if he loses, which… yes, motivates him to kick ass… but that final game indicates that he’s found his love of tennis again.
      As I stated, realistically… he’s finally going to accept that Tashi never loved him and yes, he’ll ask her for a divorce and reconcile with his best friend.. the only person who ever truly cared for him out of the three.
      That’s MY point of view. Get it? Good.

    The movie is: “listen to (black) women! She said she’d ruin your life, even wore a shirt saying she would…the material was right there, do better!”
    Okay, maybe a little out of touch 👌🏾

    My question for people that are calling this a bad bish, feminist movie: How different is this from the stereotypical cool girl that men always write about? The one that has no feelings and just wants to have sex and not a relationship? Isn’t that something that ultimately hurts women? I don’t see the difference.

      I don't think she really is a cool girl that just wants sex. She says that, but her actions don't match. Ultimately, she ends up with the guy that asks her to marry him, is there for her and she has a baby with him. She already had a no strings situation with Patrick, and she was so dissatisfied with that they wind up having a huge fight and she cuts it off with him when he isn't there for her in favor of the man who is. She also does have feelings, even if she doesn't state them all out loud, and you can get hints of them through her facial expressions and even moreso through her actions. Her actions are not all rational and calculated in a way that suggests they aren't motivated by emotion.

      @@mechantechatonne idk all the comments are like “oh she was such a bad b she didn’t even love them, her only love was tennis!” Like it’s such a cool thing to use people. I don’t get why people always admire bad people. These situations aren’t realistic in the slightest and I wish they’d stop being so glorified.

      Omg I’m honestly so confused by these extremely positive reviews. I thought the movie was terrible and there were so many questions left unanswered. I felt Zendaya wasn’t believable in that role at all and the storyline itself was kinda ridiculous. It’s like an erotica/romance book made for teens turned into a movie. Great cinematography - that’s about it.

      Yeah it could have been a better movie but the direction was BAD, unnecessarily confusing to seem avant garde

    Gay baiting … 🙄

    • @mechantechatonne
      @mechantechatonne 6 месяцев назад +4

      To be gay-baiting, a movie would have to be selling itself as a gay love story that it actually isn't. This movie isn't selling itself as a gay love story and does actually have a subplot running throughout with a same-sex relationship and they do kiss onscreen, so it goes beyond homoerotic subtext into actual text.
