I love love love this video!!!! No fancy sewing equipment, No fancy fabric weights, not enough pins? baste the pieces together!!! have no dress form? make one from a bucket (or other items) close to your own waist size to drape your garment on! I love the fact that all average household items were used to piece together this beautiful garment! well done! Thank you! Marvelous work!
My fabric weights are heavy books. they work pretty well, as long as the cats stay away with their claws -_- The dress form replacement, for the waist was mind-blowing though o.o
Great job using fabric you found at home! I've used bed sheets, table cloths, and old pants that I cut into strips to make a lot of things since I'm new to sewing and don't want to ruin nice fabric while I learn.
oh i love this so much!!!!!! i been reserching skirts the whole day and been really confused, but i think your video gave me the courage too try... this deserves so much more love omg! it turned out so pretty too!!
I'm so glad your channel popped up in my feed. I really enjoy the style of your filming/editing and that you don't have a fancy sewing room with all the latest gadgets.
This is the first video I saw from you and I am fascinated! This is real creativity, using all you can find in your household. And the skirt is sooo beautiful. Thank you so much for this inspiration!
I made the skirt when my machine broke. Took my almost a full week because the seams were so long and the material I used was pretty thick. Yours turned out amazing
In addition to the possibility of magnetism coming from the action of the needles if you use a magnetic device to hold them temporarily that would influence their polarization. An after thought. 😊
i think you should try making more sewing content! there seems to be a demand for that, and i subscribed bc i sense that you do budget historical sewing very well! maybe you could paint/hand dye fabrics to make a hybrid hobby?
Yes! I have some projects I’m working on. Unfortunately each project takes a long time to complete and edit. However I will try my best to upload them soon!
🤩Excellent video is very good because it does not have a machine😁 but one question did you only use straight stitch and baste🤔? Did you add any stitch to replace the overlock or how did you do so that the fabric and the edges do not fray? and 😅Could I make a video teaching how to put the white lining by hand or the zipper of the skirt more detailed or slower please 👍😅
Judging by the looks of it, I think the lining is 100% cotton or maybe a poly-cotton blend, and the outer skirt is 100% linen. Linen has a relatively rough texture and open weave, and it wrinkles easily but is strong and can take high heat (hence the max heat iron setting), and it's a lovely and breathable natural fibre. Cotton feels much softer against the skin, reduces the transparency of the linen garment, and is still breathable.
This is a dumb question, but could you just measure your waist and use just one piece of fabric for the skirt? I'm new to machine sewing and any help would be appreciated! ^.=.^
I’m trying to sew a skirt with the same pattern, and I am throughly confused on how many of each piece I am supposed to cut. Is each piece supposed to be cut twice? Update: I cut two of each piece but didn’t include the fourth piece in the pattern Bc I wanted the skirt to be casual

Ouuu what great ideas!!!
This is so good! You've inspired me to try hand-sewing my own walking skirt. Fingers crossed it turns out even half as good as yours!

Tysm! Skirts are definitely a good project to begin with. I would love to hear how your project turns out!

Yours turned out amazing
🤯 I also don’t have a dress form but I have music stand and bucket!!!! Thank you so much for that idea~ 😍
Lovely! The skirt came out nicely, and I love the colour.
Thank you so much! I love green too 🥰🥰
I hope there would be more hand sewing garments videos soon. 😍 Only if you want to.
so relaxing to watch❤️🥺 you are so talented !!
I always iron the fabric before laying out the pattern and cutting. It’s so much easier to get a good result that way.
This video is amazing, it made me actually focus on what was happening on screen and was beautifully shot, truly beautiful
Tysm 💕
How long did this take you? I'm considering making a skirt of my own!
It took me around one month. Good luck on your sewing adventures!
Consider how much you will wear it. A month is nothing compared to year of joy. Do it its amazing
So prettyyyyyy
Thank you 🥰🥰
You made me feel like I can do this too! Thank you!
The needles were probably not magnetic to begin with. Repeated passage through fabric in the same direction may have done it. 😊
In addition to the possibility of magnetism coming from the action of the needles if you use a magnetic device to hold them temporarily that would influence their polarization. An after thought. 😊
Ouuuu science!!!
It looks really great. I'm hoping to make one of these myself at some point. It was helpful seeing this.
Yes! Please tell me how it goes!
Only own 6 pins? We need to start a amazon wish list...😁 Beautiful skirt!
FOR REAL sis deserves the fancy looking pins with the faux pearl tops. 💞

@@kei1248 I will be diligently waiting, then! see you soon
❤ You too, have wonderful day❤
what a lovely masterpiece... very talented...may i know what is the fabric's name you are using?
Hi, I found this fabric in my house I am not too sure what it is called but it is a pretty stiff and heavy kind of fabric. Hopefully this helps!
how did you keep the form of the pleats?? just sew the top once you liked it or??? I feel like I missed something

Thank you so much! I definitely will make a video answering all your questions in the future!
@@kei1248 😅👋Thank you very much for taking it into account🤩
What is the name of this material?
This is beautiful 😁 what kind of fabric did you use?
Piper Lunsford I’m actually not too sure I found it in my house lol

I think you should try sewing circle skirts! The pattern is much easier
I’m trying to sew a skirt with the same pattern, and I am throughly confused on how many of each piece I am supposed to cut. Is each piece supposed to be cut twice?

It has been a while since I made this but if I remember correctly there are four pieces and each piece is cut once
@@kei1248 that’s what I thought originally, but the pieces wouldn’t be symmetrical, which is what leads me to think that they’re cut double. Thanks
Hello itß me I'm also making my dress with my hand all my abayas n n frock evrythngs ..😊
ow wait..i just read the comment down below about the name....😁
Um, no offense, but I love this video more than I can put into words.
Very confusing, not at all helpful.
I'm fairly certain this was not supposed to be a tutorial, rather just showing the process of making their first skirt.
There are lots of helpful tutorials on RUclips, I recommend the video I linked in the description
