    Hey, good thinking, Batman 🤗. Put some glass in when it has paid for itself a bit more. I have a polycarb greenhouse and it walked down the garden twice in the wind. However, I still have it 5 years later. I held it down with ratchet straps right over the top and into ground stakes, and then to save the pannels I used silage tape. It's fabulous stuff because of what it is used for, and so it is waterproof. I have had no problems with it since. Where there's a will there's a way. It's looking great, JB! 👌Well done to you!

      Thanks for the support Amanda! I've had problems where it's been used in the roof before, but my side panels have held strong for 3 years! That was quite nice new stuff though so we'll see how the other stuff does 😀

    Hi JB try using strips from a coke can you can cut them with scissors and they bend easy then put a small screw through the clip, polycarbonate sheet and the clip on the other side you could also use a thin piece of wood 6mm-10mm wide and 3mm -4mm thick, if you put then at the top and bottom of each sheet it will help to stop blowing away great video and yes I've cut my polycarbonate sheet under size and then had to turn them to make them fit that why I used a small piece of wood on every joint

    A little tip that may work for you to stop the panels flexing and blowing out. At time 1:55 if you drill through the poly and diagonal cross member, then put a (longer than normal) greenhouse bolt through with a 1" ali washer on the poly side, you trap it there and it allows the normal W clips to hold. This does not work on every panel and its not pretty ... but it works

    Polycarbonate works sort of OK, until a storm! if you use a single piece per bay. If you use two pieces like glass sometimes is, that’s where problems always used to happen for me. Use glazing clips but then seal round with clear mastic to give you a fighting chance!

      YOU CAN HEAR IT TOO!! I actually noticed this a while back and then thought it had gone away. I can't remove it in post with a low pass without majorly distorting the sound. I found if I didn't have the video really loud it wasn't too noticeable but thanks for letting me know.
      I've been thinking about it for a while and I think it's some kind of electrical interference with the gimbal when the mic receiver is shoed onto it. Very difficult to hear it on location but thanks for pointing it out, I will try and get it fixed!

      @JBNat neither had a base. Did a wooden base for the one we put up in my garden 5 yrs ago. And last year the one in the allotment we put on concrete blocks (the heavy ones). Levelled the ground, then weed membrane then the blocks. We screwed metal home made brackets to the blocks and frame to secure it. Although all the glass weighs it down, I rather attach it to base too. After the flood I'm so pleased we didn't use wood😱

    Hello JB,
    The best way to cut poly carbonate is with a 14 per inch tooth saw.
    Finger cross that you have the sun screen film the right way round for the poly carbonate.
    There is if you search a place that is doing a pack of 10 off , 610 x 1220 in 4 mm poly carbonate in the UK for under £60.00.

    • @JBNat
      @JBNat  Год назад +1

      Ahh yes that makes sense, looks like a much finer blade! The screen is definitely correct on the large blue pane I held up that I purchased for the old greenhouse, but who knows with the old recycled stuff! I'm thinking it will be a bit of a temporary fix for now and maybe as time goes on I can replace it with glass (hopefully some that I can find, or cut, second hand!)

    • @JBNat

      Yes if its not wide enough that will do it! It could just be your clips though. Some are much stronger than others. I recently bought Wilko w clips and they are so so soft and flexible, they hold nothing in! I recommend trying some which are deep. They should be quite challenging to actually get into place in my opinion.
      Good strong clips and three or four down each side of the pane should definitely hold it in!
