Yeah the Harley CVO has a 110 but it is still air cooled if it overheats your going to have a problem the Honda VTX is liquid cooled your going to get more life out of this engine and Honda is almost indestructible.

got a 2003 VTX1800 and... absolutely love it. 25k mile strong. i may never change bikes until I'm too decrepit and need a trike. it should NOT be your first bike as it is over 700lbs/319.7kg and very.. very powerful. if you know what you're doing on a bike, choose this over a harley any day and slap a set of Vance and Hines pipes on it. you'll sound good, feel good, and blow past any Harley. even a 2020 fat bob with their 118.

Have a 2006 VTX1800C2 which I purchased for $5,200. It had exactly 5,000 miles on it. In 6 months it now has 12,000 miles. The odometer reads 3-4 MPH fast, similar to my 2002 ST1100. Both Honda bikes have rock solid engines. Really enjoy riding it both, except the ST1100 with a 7.4 Gal. tank gets me 330 miles before filling up, while the VTX gets only 160 miles to a tank.

Voz Anderson Voz, still riding the VTX. I may get another bike in the future at some point, but I will never get rid of the VTX. It’s such a beast of a bike. Only complaint is that the suspension isn’t the best but it doesn’t really bother me much. So nimble as the rider in this video said.
And as an ‘02 bike, I purchased it with 6k miles on it... I would be crazy to get rid of it.

I’ve got about 700 or so miles on my new to me 06 VTX 1800 Neo Retro. I also had a 1300 love them both. Though the 1800 is a much smoother ride over all, imo. And yes cruise at 80, in 5th gear. Need to get around someone just roll on a bit more and it’s there, and you’re doing a cool 100. Very fun bike, including scraping the floorboards.

I've never seen a more dependable Big Bike than the Honda VTX 1800. Over the last couple of years, I have been blessed with the opportunity to be able to ride whatever bike that I choose. I went from a Suzuki M109R2 to the VTX 1800, both bikes are truly remarkable in their own way. As far as my personal experience the VTX is just a smother riding Motorcycle. I can't tell you which one is faster because they are really that close.

I just bought a 2003 vtx 1800c and I was watching that portion where you show how quickly it speeds up and you commented that it did not seem to be going that fast. I drove behind one of my coworkers the other day and he set his cruize to 75 and my speedometer showed I was doing 80. I do believe there is a bit of a difference. I plan to zip tie my gps to the handle bars and get out on the highway in a couple of days and compare the gps MPH to the analog needle just to see how far off it is. But you are correct on the power. you have to hang on. I had it in overdrive and simply pulled back on the throttle. It is spooky how fast it slips from 70 to 110 to 120. No shimmy or shake on this ride.

Nice channel and reviews Sir. In other videos you did say that well Maintained it would outlive it owners 🙂 so I would like to know is there any HD model of similar type that would be as reliable as vtx1800 and I am not about brand new ones? Also so Good lookong. I though of HD heritage 2005 before vtx 1800 but sound like Honda is cheaper to maintaine.

I don't have a crash bar on mine just like the one your riding and I have pretty much given up trying to find a set! Another person sent me to kuryakon but all I found on there was the flip outs they only give an extra a couple inches. I'm 6' 4" please message a link!! Thank you!!!

incase your still looking the vtx 1300 is a great bike for bigger people to start off in my opinion since im 6'2 around 300 but its not baby fat either. theres a few big differences 1st is the 1300 is a single pin motor instead of dual like the 1800 which most people will say sounds better and not so much like a lawn mower, 2nd is that its carbed so its a bit more forgiving as well starting out. its got plenty of power to get you going and keep a smile on your face. i wouldnt be afraid to take it on a long trip either. something id look into tho after getting one is a more comfortable seat

I have a question. I've never drove a bike before so I was thinking starting off with a Honda Shadow 750 and later move on to a bigger bike like... well exactly this one. However, i'm 235 at 5'8'' and was wondering if the 750 would be enough?

    • @What-bx1xw

i started on a shadow 750, second bike being the shadow 750 ace. perfect for city riding IMO. only time i wish i had a bigger one is when rockets are in the group.

While shopping for a used Muscle Cruiser, I narrowed my choices down to the VTX 1800, The Yamaha Warrior 1700, and the Suzuki M109. After riding a few of all three, I bought a 2006 Warrior and LOVE IT. If you are looking at this bike, keep your options open and go ride a Warrior!

    • @dfhowes
      @dfhowes 5 лет назад +3

I've owned my 2005 Warrior for about 5 years now and I love it. It's my daily commuter and weekend drag racer (at the strip, never on the street!). I just came across a 2007 VTX1800 with less than 5500 miles for less than $3000. For once, I actually had the finances to cash in on a good deal so I bought it. I had no intention of buying another motorcycle so my original plan was to flip it. But after riding it for a bit, I decided to keep it.
While both are cruiser bikes they are very different. The VTX has a larger motor (1795 vs 1670), higher compression (9:1 vs 8.3:1) and produces more HP and torque (107 HP, 120 ft-lb vs 84 HP, 99.5 ft-lb). The VTX has a larger fuel capacity (5.3 gal vs 4 gal)* and weighs more (804 lbs wet vs 658 lbs wet). Shaft drive and water cooled vs the Warrior's belt drive and air cooled. Both have 5 speed transmissions and are fuel injected.
I've only ridden the VTX a few times so far but here's what I've noted. It's more comfortable but doesn't corner as well. That's not to say the VTX handles bad, not at all. The Warrior has been lowered and even then it takes a lot more to scrape pavement than the VTX. So it's just something I have to adjust to. And I can definitely tell the 150 lb weight difference in the parking lot and slow turns. But even with the weight difference I can tell the VTX is faster. I plan on taking it to the strip next season and see just how much faster. And while the VTX is a great looking bike, IMO the Warrior looks more bad assed. It'll be nice next summer to be able to choose between the bikes, depending on my riding mood.
*I found out the hard way that the VTX low fuel indicator doesn't work (apparently it's a common problem). The first time I found out was at the end of my shift. I had to push that heavy-assed bike across our huge dirt parking lot, across a busy four lane and up a slight hill to get to the gas station. I've since then ran out of gas two more times (I know, I know, I'm a dumbass :-P ). New bike, give me a break.

@@randylarocque1694 Thanks Randy. But perhaps I didn't specify the problem adequately. The low fuel light on the VTX flat out doesn't light up when it's low on fuel. And being as it's a new-to-me bike, I have no idea many miles I can ride before it's empty. But I'm going to find out, believe me! I don't want to be pushing that 800 lb bike again!

@@dfhowes My worst similar case scenario was i had a dead battery and jumped the bike. Figured I'd ride it to the station and it will recharge and ill get some gas. Had to stop the bike to use the key to open the tank, filled up nice and heavy and then went to start i and it was dead lol. Pushing a bike upto jogging speed then jumping on it to kick start it was no fun. Several times too. I almost sh$t my pants with the effort.
